It looks as though this week is game update week as earlier we told you that a Skyrim patch was being worked on. Now we can tell you that the Gears of War 3 tile update is now ready to download. The update brings with it a whole host of new features and other improvements and fixes.

There is now the new spectator mode option that has been added to private versus matches for broadcasting by gaming leagues. Now one player from each team can choose the spectator mode during the setting up of a match. Now matches will be four versus four with two spectators, and now you have the option of disabling the HUD during multiplayer games for machinima and video creators.

There is also a number of Exploit fixes that include the Onyx Field Engineer medal can no longer be prestige among others. The update is bringing with it a big number of general fixes as well that include during Horde if there is a host migration the match will resume at the same wave. There are potential fixes for the rare lost progress issue and the rare profile freezing issue.

Now the Beast leader board screen will no longer refresh while sending challenges and the game will still pause in the Beast, Campaign, and Horde. Epic have said they will launch the Versus Booster Map Pack for the game on November 24th. This will come with two maps that have been refreshed from Gears of War 1, Clocktower and Swamp, as well as Azura, Rustlung and Blood Drive.

For all the new content head over to Epic and let us know if you have already downloaded the update and how it went.

The rumors and speculation surrounding the release of the next generation of games consoles from Sony and Microsoft won’t go away. Most gamers don’t want to see any new hardware for at least two years, as many feel the current models still have a lot to offer. Today we have news that Gears of War 3 developer Epic, knows when the Xbox720/PS4 are coming.

With the focus mainly on the Xbox 360 that is now in its sixth year, and currently no new model on the horizon. The Telegraph are reporting that Epic’s Cliff Bleszinksi was recently talking about the launch of Gears of War 3, and was asked if he knew anything about any new consoles in the pipeline.

He said that if the developer brings out any new titles for the Xbox 360, they will “be able to squeeze more water from that stone”. This was in response to being asked if the company felt restricted by the Xbox 360. But he did add “there is a huge amount of room for improvement in graphics”, and feels the next generation of console will allow for “Avatar-quality”.

When asked how far out we are from seeing the next generation of consoles he replied “Who knows. I could tell you.” “But I’d violate an NDA.” He may have just been joking, but may truthfully know what Microsoft and even Sony are planning. It is obvious tough that he would seriously upset either company if he revealed secret information that may have been shared with the developer.

We probably won’t see any new hardware from either company before 2013 at the earliest, and the current models continue to be updated and tweaked. Sony and Microsoft will undoubtedly be working on new consoles, and have probably have been for a while. Both companies are likely to be in no rush to bring them out yet as current models continue to sell well.

When do you think the next generation of consoles will be with us?

I have to say I’m quite impressed with some of the apps that have been released onto the Apple App Store over the past few days. Yesterday for example I brought you news of two new apps that are now available to download – one being DJ Music Mixer and the other being Star Wars Imperial Academy.

We now have news of another app that has just arrived, one that has been receiving positive reviews. The app I am talking about is Epic Games’ Infinity Blade, which was given a very impressive rating of 9.0 out of 10 by Hilary Goldstein over at uk.wireless.ign.com.

Hilary describes the Infinity Blade game as beautiful and addictive, and even goes as far as saying that it’s easily one of the best games that are available for iOS devices. Although this reviewer says that it can be rather challenging and frustrating at times, the Infinity Blade game is still fun to play.

Another article I came across that praises the Infinity Blade app is from Roberto over at padgadget.com. According to this report, Infinity Blade takes handheld gaming to a completely new level. The graphics are described as the best they’ve seen so far, and the interface is said to fit nicely with iOS devices.

If you want to know more about the Infinity Blade app, which costs $5.99, then you may like to head on over to the itunes.apple.com website. Do you think you’ll be purchasing this new app?
