Hands-on Review: BenQ W5000 projector
August 12, 2008 by Mark

The BenQ W5000 projector priced at £1470 seems a little high, but does the good weigh out the bad? The image quality is superb and is more than bright enough to work in most rooms plus with the multiple of connections on this projector all seems very good indeed, on the bad side of this it does lack in the way of zooming and only has HDMI 1.2, and with no horizontal shift makes you wonder if this is a projector you should choose.
Personally the good weighs out the bad making the BenQ W5000 projector a perfect choice for your home. Some of the main specs on this projector include high-def 1080p HD, 492 x 180 x 420mm, weighs 9.6kg, 2-8m range giving a 40-300-inch image, HDMI inputs, S-Video and Composite inputs, RGB HV source, five BNC jacks, Component video input and 1200 lumens.
Now being a lead audio and visual engineer fitting this type of project is pretty easy to the ceiling, obviously you would have to by the correct mounting plates and of course the right fixings dependant on the ceilings material being it plasterboard, concrete or wooden beams etc.
Personally the BenQ W5000 projector is not one I would choose, but everyone has their own opinion. Anyway please read the full hands-on review over on pocket-lint.

Timex TS70B Clock Radio for Sansa e200 & c200
August 4, 2008 by Peter
Filed under Audio & Video Gadgets, Gadgets

The Timex TS70B is a clock radio that is compatible with all Sansa e200 and c200 players. Normally clock radios are a bit on the boring side, but I have to say that once these players are docked they look very cool.
The Timex TS70B Clock Radio has a tower design and comes complete with remote, meaning you do not have to rush from your bed once the alarm goes off.
Do not worry if you do not own a Sansa e200 & c200 player as Timex have included a 3.5mm mini-jack, allowing you to connect other brands of MP3 players to the radio.
There are a few downsides to the Timex TS70B, the first being that you can’t wake up to your tunes on your MP3 player. You can only wake up to AM/FM radio or buzzer. The other downside is the sound, it does not like going loud but what do you expect for a clock radio.
Woot has the Timex TS70B Clock Radio on a one day special for just $29.99
Review of the Zalman ZM-M2020W Trimon 3D Monitor

When people mention 3D they think back to a few years ago when we had to wear a pair of stupid glasses while watching a movie in the cinema. However, that will not do in this day and age as we want to be able to view 3D images in our home without looking like an idiot, and let’s face it the old 3D movies looked very poor when you think about it.
Well Zalman have been trying to bring an improved 3D experience to the home, and I think with the release of their ZM-M2020W Trimon 3D Monitor, they might have just give us a 3D product that we can now enjoy. This 22-inch monitor according to Zalman will help to reproduce a 3D environment; I know what you are thinking “we have heard it all before.”

The first thing that we have to point out is just how nice the design of this monitor is, and that is a great achievement from Zalman as they do not normally produce monitors. The bezel is slim with rounded corners and has a matte black finish.
The 2D performance of the Zalman ZM-M2020W Trimon 3D Monitor is truly superb, but it is the 3D feature that we are more interested in and it certainly performs well however, you have to note that this feature will work best when using nVidia hardware.

Bendy silicon chip paves way for flexible electronic devices
![]()
In just a few short years we will be seeing a range of flexible electronic devices thanks to a new bendy silicon chip. US scientists have designed these new chips and are made from ultra-thin silicon that has been bonded to sheets of rubber and have been folded like a concertina.
According to the Science Journel these flexible stretchy chips will be ideal in a number of products like smart clothing. US scientists are now working on a design for a smart latex glove, which will then be use by surgeons. The glove will be able to measure vital signs as well as blood oxygen levels; this could prove invaluable during an operation.

Hands on with the Chimei CMV 633A: Strangely a 16 Inch Monitor
March 13, 2008 by Peter

Years ago the size of monitor that everybody was going for was a 15 Inch, then it moved to a 17-inch. However nowadays people are buying 20 and 22 inch desktop monitors. So what I would like to know is, “why would someone bring out a 16 inch.”
The Chimei CMV 633A although nice still has one thing going against it, and that is it’s strange. But hold on a minute, this must have been done for a reason so let’s find out why.
What we know is that the Chimei CMV 633A will not suit every home user, however as we work foe companies who need to cut down on space, this monitor will help in that area. And you can’t help but notice how easy on the eye his little monitor is.
