The latest egg recall affects Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., who get their supply from an Ohio farm. Thankfully there have not been any reports of illness.

The FDA found salmonella during a routine inspection, and the worrying thing is, the farm has ties with the two men behind a previous egg recall. 24,000 eggs in all will be recalls, which were packaged from October 9 to October 12.

These eggs are shipped under different names these are as follows: Sun Valley, Sunny Meadow, James Farm labels and Springfield Grocer. The Julian dates for these are 282, 284 and 285. For more details visit the Iowa Independent.

Another scare like this will not give the consumer confidence in the food that they purchase. Recalls have been getting more often, which is certainly a worry, why has the rate of recalls increased over the past couple of years?

As reported from the NYTimes, the number of eggs recalled has now risen to 380 million. As we previously told you, these are divided between a variety of egg suppliers, some of which include Mountain Dairy, Dutch Farms and Pacific Coast.

The culprit behind the voluntary recall is Wright County Egg, who reside in Iowa. New York Times reports that the owner of this company is constantly used to health and safety visits by regulators, they even have a history of poor or unsafe working conditions.

It is obvious that this is a huge problem, one which is unlikely to go away for a while. For those who have contracted salmonella as a result of consuming the eggs, what are your thoughts on the whole story?

We now have some fresh details from the Egg Safety Center, in relation to the recall issued by Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa. It has now been revealed that the affected eggs were sold to distribution centers, foodservice companies and food wholesalers, across a span of different areas.

Some of these places include California, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. If you think you have spotted these eggs, you’ll find Julian dates ranging from 136 to 225 and plant numbers 1026, 1413 and 1946 as stated in our previous report.

Furthermore, the affected eggs will be packaged in 6-egg cartons, dozen egg cartons and 18-egg cartons. More information on salmonella risks can be seen in our previous article here.

According to this report by USAToday, the recall is due to an ongoing outbreak of salmonella, which has sickened hundreds of people since May, according to the CDC. Worst of all, the problem appears to be still ongoing, but has now been tracked to in-shell eggs from Wright County Egg in Galt, Iowa.

Wright County Eggs sell their products to a number of brand names. These include Albertson, Lucerne, Sunshine, Mountain Dairy, Dutch Farms, Ralph’s, Hillandale, Boomsma’s, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund and Kemps.

If you have recently bought egg products from one of the brand names listed above, you should look out for plant numbers P-1026, P-1413 and P-1946 which are contained on the packaging. You can return the eggs to where you bought them for a full refund.
