Those of you who are still upset over EA’s decision not to bring the Ignite Engine technology over to the PC version of FIFA 14, are not likely to be impressed with some new feedback from the company. This week, we’ve heard how one of the main reasons for the new engine’s absence, is because EA believes that there isn’t enough consumers out there with high-end PCs to justify including it in the game.

At the moment, EA’s brand new engine will only be coming to the Xbox One and PS4 versions of FIFA 14. While some consumers will obviously be running a system that they believe would ‘destroy’ any console hardware, EA Sports chief Andrew Wilson has said that the average PC consumer would have a problem running their new engine.

When speaking to Polygon in a recent interview, he even cited FIFA 11 as an example of a game that could run perfectly fine on consoles a few years ago, but would have problems running on PC for the people who wanted to play that game. His comments are unlikely to go down well with those running a top rig, but then again – we all know that high-end PCs cost a substantial amount of money, so perhaps he has a valid point.

The overall meaning it seems, is that EA first needs to see a rise in the number of consumers owning high-spec PCs, for them to consider putting their new engine in future PC versions of FIFA. There’s also the argument that the majority of FIFA players are console owners as well – so we have a feeling that this played a big part in the decision as well.

The bottom line: Do you own a ‘high-end PC’? If so, let us know your thoughts on EA’s consensus that the average consumer doesn’t. Will you still be picking up a PC version of FIFA 14 or not now?

We have some promising news for future Battlefield 4 owners now, especially those who are pondering the decision on waiting for a next-gen PS4 or Xbox One version of the game. We all know that the game is due out this October on current-gen platforms and PC, but many console fans are considering waiting longer so that they can pick up a graphically superior version compared to Xbox 360 and PS3.

The good news, is that there may be a solution in place, which will allow you to still pick up the game on October 29 during launch. DICE has revealed the excellent news that they are currently in discussion on methods to allow players to transfer their Battlefield 4 data from current-gen over to the next-gen consoles.

This will obviously be a god send to many players, as it essentially will mean that they won’t have to start another career when playing an Xbox One or PS4 version and will be able to keep all of their stats and vehicle unlocks in tact. Nothing is confirmed yet, but DICE revealed to MP1ST at E3 that it is definitely under consideration.

At the same time, there are also some potential doubts over this move, as those picking up a next-gen version and starting from scratch may find it very difficult when they are coming up against players who have been willing to buy Battlefield 4 twice to keep all of their stats.

DICE could choose to just allow certain stats to be kept, like kills and deaths, but require players to start from scratch in other areas such as unlocks. This way, it would allow first-time next gen players to have a smoother introduction to multiplayer, whilst those buying the game again shouldn’t find it too long to unlock everything again anyway – since they would have mastered the maps and weapons on PS3 or Xbox 360 versions.

What are your thoughts on this move – would you support a game data transfer system between current and next gen versions of Battlefield 4 or not?

There has been a lot of complaints on how FIFA 14 on current-gen consoles may end up looking largely the same compared to the core FIFA 13 experience. As a result, next-gen versions of the game may be your best option and this week we have a very useful video for you to watch coming out of E3 2013 – showing a real time look at some of the graphics of FIFA 14 running on the Xbox One hardware.

As EA announced at E3, FIFA 14 is playable on the show floor at this year’s event, but only on current-gen platforms. However, EA managed to provide a sneak peak look at how FIFA 14 will run on the Xbox One console and we have the video for you to watch, courtesy of IGN below.

Unfortunately, EA are not ready to show off an actual match yet, but what we do see is evidence of the new gameplay changes that will be possible thanks to the next-gen Ignite Engine that will be available on next-gen console versions of FIFA 14. EA stresses at the start of the video that everything is ‘realtime’, so what you see here is what you should see on the final version of the Xbox One game at launch.

Examples of the new Ignite Engine features include better AI awareness during player collisions. Players will also now be able to identify the moment when an incoming opponent is coming in for a challenge, resulting in new features such as jumping over tackles – rather than the stoppage of play which usually happened on FIFA 13.

The graphics shown up close look incredible – just look at how realistic the crowd has become now. If you watch further on into the video, you’ll see the new physics engine being applied to headers, with players now able to perform new moves and effective headers depending on the current situation.

It all looks fantastic, but we would like to see a live match next. This video here could also be a good indication on how the game will end up looking on PS4 as well. Hopefully EA won’t keep us waiting for an actual uninterrupted gameplay match without replays.

Will you be picking up FIFA 14 on the Xbox One or PS4? It looks like the true package won’t be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

EA and DICE had been teasing prior to E3 that they were bringing something special to the event in the form of Battlefield 4 multiplayer, and boy they didn’t disappoint. A live 64-man battle took place live during E3′s press conference and if you were previously fearing that BF4 would end up as a “BF3.5″, these fears alone should be gone after watching a replay of the live match.

As big fans of Battlefield 3, we too are expecting big things for the new game, especially with the game coming out so soon after Battlefield 3 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. We knew that Battlefield 4 would obviously increase on battlefield map sizes, but just wait until you see the carnage that is possible on the map Siege of Shanghai.

During the video, we see confirmation of five man squads, the ability to counter knife attacks with a melee of your own and also increased destruction in a big way. By that we mean the live destruction of a skyscraper building that we’re assuming can crumble at any given moment on a map, depending on the damage it takes.

The graphics look amazing on the PC version of Battlefield 4 and hopefully Xbox One and PS4 owners will finally see a similar experience on console thanks to the upgraded hardware. We can also confirm that 64 player maps will be available on next-gen consoles, running at 60FPS – although the set resolution on console hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Look at the graphics when the skyscraper comes down – it looks epic and we just hope that it was a random event, not pre-set on that map. We also love the new way to take down tanks, by setting C4 on pillars underneath on lower levels – this could become a massive tactic when the game goes live in October.

Some may have thought that EA were moving too soon on Battlefield 4, but who can honestly say that they are not going to be buying this game upon release? We think the actual debate will come when players have to make the decision on whether to pick up on current-gen consoles, PC or the new Xbox One and PS4. 64 players on next-gen versions now makes a massive difference of course.

Do you think EA has firmly silenced their critics with this Battlefield 4 multiplayer reveal? It looks amazing and we can’t wait to get our hands on the game in October. Tell us what version you’ll be buying – current, next-gen or PC?

A few weeks ago, we told you that EA were planning to end their much debated Online Pass system, a move which unsurprisingly shocked many gamers who thought that this moment would never come. Now, we can confirm that EA has already taken the first steps in this new initiative, by removing Online Pass schemes from a vast list of Xbox 360 titles.

It means that the Online Pass removal is also affecting existing titles, not just future titles from EA which you may have thought at the start. As a result, those who happen to pick up second-hand games such as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIP on Xbox 360 will now be able to play the online portion for free without any prompt for an online unlock code.

EA were initially asking for 800 Microsoft Points for an online pass for Bad Company 2 VIP, but you’ll see on the Xbox Live Marketplace here that no such fee is needed any more. It’s also the same for games such as Mass Effect 2 with the Cerberus Network and also Bulletstorm, which previously needed an online pass first as well.

It is strange that EA are targeting Xbox 360 games first? As far as we’re aware, Online Passes are still active on the PS3 versions of these games. It could just be that Xbox 360 games have been highlighted first, with a gradual removal across all platforms to happen in the coming months.

To take advantage of this while you can though, you’ll want to see the list of games over at Neogaf here, to see which online passes have been removed on Xbox 360. It also has to be said that it doesn’t really help rumors emerging that EA and Microsoft are about to partner in a big way at E3 2013.

What is your reaction to the removal of Online Passes on existing Xbox 360 games, but not PS3?

Last week we spoke about the possibility of highly anticipated title Mirror’s Edge 2 ending up as a Microsoft exclusive. Now, we have some more evidence to bring you, which suggests that this could be a definite reality after E3 2013 is finished. Another listing has appeared for the game, for Microsoft’s new Xbox One console only.

In our previous report, it seemed that there was a low chance of Mirror’s Edge 2 re-appearing into the limelight as an Xbox exclusive, but now it doesn’t seem so farfetched anymore. Mirror’s Edge arrived on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2008 of course, but has Mirror’s Edge 2 become one of the big exclusives that Microsoft were teasing during their Xbox One event?

The company has said that they have a ‘ton’ of exclusives lined up for their console and don’t forget what happened with Bayonetta 2. Everyone expected the sequel to come out on multiplatform like the first game, but Nintendo coughed up the cash to make sure that didn’t happen.

Microsoft may have done the exact same thing with EA and made sure that Xbox One is the only console where you’ll be able to play Mirror’s Edge 2. A new screenshot captured by Eurogamer shows an Xbox One listing over at Amazon Italy – another listing that has since been removed rather quickly.

If you put the pieces together, it suggests that the game has become an Xbox One exclusive. Give us your thoughts on that and how highly you rate the Mirror’s Edge series. Is this a huge blow for Sony or not in your opinion? Microsoft’s E3 keynote is not one to be missed we feel.

After initially wowing the gaming world with their 17 minute Battlefield 4 single-player footage, DICE has now confirmed that they are ready to show off Battlefield 4 multiplayer for the first time.

By ready, they have confirmed that they will be bringing multiplayer to E3 2013 next month and will provide lucky attendees with the chance to participate in some live battles directly from the E3 showfloor. Perhaps even better though, DICE has also said that those who are unable to attend will not miss anything – because they will be streaming the entire thing.

Live streams will be available, showing the Battlefield 4 multiplayer action as it unfolds live from E3, with DICE also revealing that matches will take place with commentary. We had the chance to play some live Black Ops 2 multiplayer matches in London prior to the game’s release, and we have to say that the included commentary does really add to the whole experience.

The first Battlefield 4 multiplayer footage will be available for viewing on June 10, during EA’s pre-E3 event. EA has promised ‘hours’ of streaming footage for those looking to watch online, so it really is shaping up to be a special week if you are a fan of Battlefield.

Some BF fans are fearing that gameplay could end up the same as BF3, but hopefully EA will show enough of the game at E3 to ease some of these fears. It should also serve as an excellent appetizer as Battlefield 3 premium owners patiently await their chance to enter the BF4 beta as part of their subscription.

How excited are you about Battlefield 4 this year? Are you a little cautious this time, or still fully on board the Battlefield bandwagon?

EA has just confirmed a solid FIFA 14 release date in the UK, as well as revealing that there will be as many as three special editions of the game, aside from the normal version.

Each of these versions will come with free Gold Packs, for players to use when entering the FIFA 14 Ultimate Team mode. For those buying from the UK, EA has announced that GAME and Amazon will be offering different versions of the game which give the player various incentives depending on where they order.

For example, GAME will give consumers access to the FIFA 14 Collector’s Edition, which will include 24 FUT gold packs, EAS FC bundle items, an Adidas bundle including an all-star team, 3 new celebrations, historic club kits, pro boosters and the grand offering – a limited edition Adidas EA Sports Glider football.

The price for the Collector’s Edition will be £84.99, but you can put down a £20 deposit right now at GAME if you are interested in reserving one for either Xbox 360 or PS3. Alternatively, you can pick up the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 14 at Amazon for £60, with all of the above except the football and GAME exclusive Steel book.

EA has detailed all of the information that you need to know, over at the FIFA 14 product page here. Without further do, you’ll want to know that FIFA 14 launches in the UK on September 27 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 – three days before in the US as usual. As announced recently, there will also be next-gen versions on the Sony PS4 and Xbox One, although EA hasn’t revealed release information on next-gen versions just yet.

How does the £85 Collector’s Edition of FIFA 14 sound to you – worth the extra cash or not? The standard version of the game will only be coming with 4 FUT gold packs.

Earlier on we spoke about FIFA 14 and the fact that certain Ultimate Team features are now going to be made exclusive on the Xbox One version of the game, as part of EA’s newly announced deal with Microsoft. Now, we have an update on the PC version to share with you, although it is definitely not the update that you’ll want to hear about.

If you tuned in to Microsoft’s Xbox One event, you would have seen EA take to the stage to unveil their brand new Ignite Engine, a new enhanced engine that will power games such as FIFA 14, Madden, NBA Live and UFC now that they have taken over the franchise from THQ.

EA has said that Ignite will offer ‘human-like intelligence’ to their upcoming sports games, whilst also offering “ten times greater animation fidelity” and more accurate environments. The company has also said that using this new engine will allow AI athletes to compute calculations four times the speed that was previously possible on their old engine and current-gen consoles.

While this sounds amazing for FIFA 14 fans, the big disappointment is that EA has said that Ingite engine isn’t coming to PC – only PS4 and Xbox One. Perhaps even worse, is that EA hasn’t offered a specific reason why they are not bringing their new engine over to PC either.

This has already caused mass anger from PC gamers who believe that they make up a big portion of EA’s community and following, aside from console. Combine this with the fact that next-gen consoles are now featuring PC-like architecture, so it is a somewhat strange decision for EA to completely alienate PC gamers in this way.

Who will now pick up FIFA 14 on PC, knowing that it won’t be built using a next-gen engine like PS4 and Xbox One? Let’s hope we get some clarity from EA regarding this issue soon. As a PC gamer reading this, are you surprised by this latest snub from EA?

If you are looking to pick up FIFA 14 on the Sony PS4, you may have been worried by the events that unfolded earlier this week during Microsoft’s Xbox One event. EA has signed a new exclusivity agreement with Microsoft over the EA Sports brand, with initial reports suggesting that FIFA 14 Ultimate Team would become an Xbox One exclusive.

FIFA 14, Madden, NBA Live and now UFC are all on the way to the Xbox One, with EA announcing that they will run on a brand new engine called EA Sports Ignite. As part of this unveil, EA seemingly confirmed that FIFA 14 Ultimate Team would now become an Xbox One exclusive.

However, EA has now clarified the situation for angry Sony fans, by reiterating that Ultimate Team is still going to be available on the PS4 version of FIFA 14. It now means that a likely situation will come, where the Xbox One will instead feature exclusive elements of Ultimate Team, that will only be available on that platform.

Considering that FIFA hasn’t been part of the exclusivity shenanigans down the years though, the fact that EA Sports is now setting up base on Xbox is still unlikely to go down well. The big question now, unsurprisingly, is just what exclusive Ultimate Team content EA plans to give Xbox One owners, ahead of PS3, PS3 and PC FIFA fans.

Microsoft had promised that tons of exclusives were on the way, so this could only be a taster of what is to come during Microsoft’s main E3 2013 press conference, where the company has already confirmed will primarily be all about the games. Are you still willing to pick up a PS4 copy of FIFA 14, knowing that exclusive content is headed to the Xbox One version instead?

At least Ultimate Team will still be there on PS4, in some capacity. Do you think we will ever see an end to console exclusivity deals?
