Just moments ago we received word that the day that MMA and console fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. EA MMA is now ready for download in the Xbox 360 Marketplace and also on PlayStation Home.

Gamers and fighters who chose to play the demo will be able to get straight into the action by selecting the ‘Fight Now’ mode with two weight classes at your disposal, heavyweight and middleweight.

Representing the heavyweight class, you can select from STRIKEFORCE champion, Alistair Overeem and former professional wrestler, Bobby Lashley. Jake Shields, and the entertaining Jason “Mayhem” Miller make up the choices for the middleweight class.

EA MMA promises that this game is different from any other in it’s class by enabling you to step outside the cage, travel the global while fighting in numerous different fighting arenas and envoirnments with different rules and training locations.

One added bonus of playing the demo will also net you the chance to unlock a playable classic version of Randy Couture, that can be obtained by sharing the demo game with friends. Other features covered in the demo are Live Broadcast mode, Career, Fight Card, Create-A-Fighter that features Photo Game Face, Fighter Share and Online Belt Race.

EA MMA is released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 19, 2010, but in the meantime why don’t you check out the demo and see what the fuss is all about.

Played the demo? What are your views? Better than the UFC Undisputed game released previously this year?

If you are not fully satisfied with UFC Undisputed 2010 you may be intrigued to see what EA Sports have up their sleeves for their upcoming MMA game, well from the look of their recently release World Collide trailer it looks like the UFC have nothing to worry about.

To hardcore MMA fans EA MMA’s roster will appeal greatly, mainly thanks to playable fighters such as Fedor Emelianenko and Randy Couture, however beyond that the game looks extremely poor.

The trailer video (embedded at the end of this post) shows a wide range of fighting, however in my opinion looks very unrealistic and slow, it could be that the game’s code is unfinished, or perhaps the game will just suck.

I hope that the code is in it’s early stages as having two competitive developers up against eachother usually results in better future games for the end user, and that is surely what it’s all about.

Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section, if you prefer you can see the video in all of it’s glory via the link below.

This year will be the first year (to my knowledge) that there has ever been two competing MMA video games launched, one will be UFC Undisputed 2010, and the other will be EA Sports MMA, up until now I have been looking forward to both, however a recently released gameplay video of EA Sports MMA has put me off.

The video (which can be seen at the end of this post) shows fighting between Gegard Mousasi and Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, obviously the game is an early version, however even so the action is less than impressive (in my opinion).

Punches, kicks and all other movements seem very lethargic, the graphical quality is pretty good, however I feel that the game has a completely different look and feel compared to the last trailer we posted.

Personally I don’t quite understand why EA would release such an unimpressive trailer, hopefully the final product will be a lot more impressive, it will have to be to compete against the now established UFC Undisputed games.

It has been a while since we have heard anything from EA Sports regarding their upcoming MMA game, however a new trailer video has shown up on JoyStiq, this video has been embedded at the end of this post.

The trailer features ‘actual gameplay footage’ throughout, prior to watching this trailer I was under the impression that all fights would take place in the octagon, however this trailer shows fights in a ring which is what Pride FC used before becoming defunct in 2007.

Another thing which impressed me about this trailer is that the ground-game and take-downs look particularly realistic, hopefully the control-system will perhaps make the gameplay better than UFC Undisputed 2009.

At the end of the trailer some release information is revealed, no definite release date is stated, however we should expect the game to launch in late 2010.

Do you like the look of the EA Sports MMA? Or will you just buy UFC Undisputed 2010?

If you have been looking forward to the release of EA Sports MMA you may want to check out JoyStiq’s recent article, 5 new screenshots have been posted of the game, these can be seen here.

It must be said that the detail of the fighters looks absolutely great, four different fighters are shown in the screenshots, these include Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers.

Sadly these screenshots do not reveal any new fighters who will appear on the game, I wonder whether there are any more big names which may appear on the game.

We are still not sure of a release date for EA Sports MMA, however as we hear details we will keep you posted, for more information check out JoyStiq.
