Previously EA Sports president Peter Moore suggested that Fight Night and MMA releases would alternative years, recently we have seen the release of Fight Night Champion, however last year’s EA MMA game didn’t sell as well as EA had hoped and reviews weren’t all great, therefore a sequel is by no means certain.

A recent article posted on VG247 features quotes from Fight Night Champion’s producer, he hopes that another EA MMA game will be released next year and also suggested that if it is released it will be bigger and better than the last.

When the EA MMA demo hit Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network last year we received lots of feedback suggesting that the game was a disappointed, therefore we wonder if our readers want to see another EA MMA game.

Obviously for every bad review there is a contradicting good review, GameShark scored it 91/100 suggesting that it was a serious contender to UFC Undisputed 2011, whilst Eurogamer say “Although it gets a lot right with a well-structured fighting system – which has a solid mix of subsystems to master – it doesn’t have the same level of hardcore appeal as the current champion”.

Gamers and fighters who chose to play the demo will be able to get straight into the action by selecting the ‘Fight Now’ mode with two weight classes at your disposal, heavyweight and middleweight.

Representing the heavyweight class, you can select from STRIKEFORCE champion, Alistair Overeem and former professional wrestler, Bobby Lashley. Jake Shields, and the entertaining Jason “Mayhem” Miller make up the choices for the middleweight class.

EA MMA promises that this game is different from any other in it’s class by enabling you to step outside the cage, travel the global while fighting in numerous different fighting arenas and envoirnments with different rules and training locations.

One added bonus of playing the demo will also net you the chance to unlock a playable classic version of Randy Couture, that can be obtained by sharing the demo game with friends. Other features covered in the demo are Live Broadcast mode, Career, Fight Card, Create-A-Fighter that features Photo Game Face, Fighter Share and Online Belt Race.

EA MMA is released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 19, 2010, but in the meantime why don’t you check out the demo and see what the fuss is all about.

The demo will be freely downloadable from Xbox Live / PlayStation Network as of September 28th, it will be interesting to see how it compares to UFC Undisputed 2010, which was released earlier this year.

From what we can see the demo will allow you to fight as one of four fighters from the game’s impressive roster, these are Alistair Overeem, Bobby Lashley, Jason Miller and Jake Shields.

I am looking forward to the demo, however previous gameplay videos seem less than impressive, let’s hope that developers have speeded up the action and smoothed out the graphics.

The full heavyweight roster has now been revealed, you can see all of the fighters in the image embedded at the end of this post, big names include Fedor Emelianenko, Randy Couture, Andrei Arlovksi, Josh Barnett, Bob Sapp, Alistair Overeem, Ken Shamrock, Brett Rogers, Bobby Lashley and Fabricio Werdum.

If you are not that clued up on MMA there is a picture below the other image which puts a name to the face, I must admit I cannot wait to get in the octagon with Fedor, perhaps up against Couture.

As reported from Eurogamer, EA MMA will be available to buy on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 on October 19th. EA didn’t specifically mention a date for the UK, but we are betting that it will be out on Friday 22nd October – we’ll let you know if that date changes.

Detailed game features are still unknown at the moment, although EA did release a trailer which focused heavily on two of the all time MMA greats – Fedor Emelianenko and Randy Couture.

This does not seemed to have put off too many fighters so far, and now we are hearing that 7 new fighters have agreed to be part of the games roster.

These 7 new fighters are ‘Cung Le, Gilbert Melendez, Robbie Lawler, Ronaldo Souza, Matt Lindland, Scott Smith, and Josh Thomson’, out of all of these fighters Matt Lindland has had one of the biggest UFC careers, however has not fought in the UFC for over 4 years.
