For those of you planning to pick up the Nook Color, you’ll be pleased to know that the final piece of the puzzle has been revealed a few days after it’s unveiling – the all-important processor powering the device.

As Engadget reports, the processor detail was interestingly left out of the official spec sheet during the unveiling of the Nook Color, but we’re pleased that the information has now been released.

The Nook Color will be powered by a ARM Cortex A8-based, 45nm TI OMAP3621 processor – which will run at 800Mhz according to Texas Instruments. Just to give you a quick reference, the TI OMAP chip also runs on the Motorola Droid X smartphone, and the ARM Cortex A8 has been used on a variety of recent hardware.

Is the Nook Color fast enough for you to warrant a purchase though? More details over at Engadget.
