If you haven’t yet had a chance to play Duke Nukem Forever we have some great news for you, we recently got sent two copies of the game to give away to our loyal readers, one for Xbox 360 and one for PS3.

So what do you have to do to win a copy? Well it is very simple, head on over to my Twitter account and then retweet this tweet for the Xbox 360 version of the game, or this tweet for the PS3 version of the game. The cut off point is Saturday 6th of August 2011, so get on Twitter asap to be in with a chance of winning, good luck! We will contact you for your address if you are lucky enough to win, hurry up and tell your friends, family colleagues etc, even if they don’t want the game they could give it to you if they’re lucky enough to win!

It would be fair to say that Duke Nukem Forever has received mixed reviews since it arrived back mid-June, therefore this is the ideal opportunity to play the game without spending $40 on it, we will send the game to U.S. and UK addresses so make sure you live in an applicable region.

We posted our first impressions of the game here, so far we haven’t been blown away and the game lacks the finish of some of today’s first-person shooters, but for fans of previous Duke Nukem games we have to admit that you should get some enjoyment out of it, especially if you play online.

This is one of the first times we have given away products on Product-Reviews, therefore we will perhaps look into making this a more regular occurrence if we receive a positive response, feel free to email me if you have a product which you would like to give away to our readers.

Recently we were sent a copy of Duke Nukem Forver to review, we were keen to test it out for ourselves as we were hearing lots of poor reviews from game critics, however we must admit after 2 hours of gameplay we have to agree that the game is lackluster to say the least. Today we will post some of our first impressions, however we will post a more detailed review for our readers to check out at a later date.

As soon as you load up Duke Nukem Forever you are reminded of the franchise’s over-the-top nature, obviously this is not a problem and quite frankly it is nice to load up a first-person shooter which wasn’t trying to be ultra-realistic or too serious, but once you start the game’s campaign you can see why the game is getting slated by critics. Obviously graphics aren’t everything, however it is not just the game’s visuals which dissapointed us early on.

Early on in the game you have to navigate through some corridors while a battle ensues, you see lots of soldiers and enemies, all of which have a white glow around them (see below) this does not help the game in terms of visual. Also we noticed that when the game autosaves it causes a very slight pause in gameplay, this is nitpicking, but something which doesn’t affect a lot of other games. Other things which failed to impress us include the obviously low frame rate, the poor animations which you see throughout when characters are moving and the fact that you smoothly glide when moving around.

Early on in the game you have to battle it out with a Cycloid, this huge boss lacks any intelligence and is easily beaten, we had a little difficulty aiming so whacked the vertical and horizontal sensitivity to max, this helped a little but still we are not overly impressed by the game’s aiming system. Once you beat the Cycloid you learn that Nukem was just playing a video game whilst two women “attended to him”. For a few seconds we hoped that game’s visuals early on in the game were so poor due to the fact that you was in fact playing a game within a game, however this was not the case.

We then played through the game and we found that it was very linear and when you thought your detective skills would come in handy points of interest glow orange to show you the way, we think that it would be better if you had to work things out for yourself. At times we see glimpses of clever development and map design which makes you have to think about you are doing, one example of this happens early on when you need to find and item which is in a locked room, here you must use a remote control car to push the item through a gap in the wall, this was quite fun and mixed up the action for a while.

Now that we have had a few battles on Duke Nukem Forever we have to admit that it is not all bad ,but with game set to regular we have yet to be tested. Until we complete it we will hold our judgement and we will publish a fully detailed review when we do, so keep checking Product-Review.net for the latest news.

We have some surprising news to bring you now, and you’ll probably want to look away if you’re a Duke Nukem fan, as it has been revealed that the latest game Duke Nukem Forever, has received a 0/10 score on aggregate review website Metacritic.

If you’ve taken a look at the Metacritic review page for the game, you’ll have seen that the reviews are not too favorable for Duke’s long awaited return unfortunately, but we still didn’t expect to see a 0/10 right at the bottom of the pile.

On closer inspection, the 0/10 score provided by 1UP actually seems to be a result of Metacritics scoring system, rather than 1UP just being blatently harsh towards the game. They actually reviewed the game an ‘F’, and Metacritic took this lettered score and translated it into a 0.

With the terrible score aside, do you really think the game is that bad? We do realise that the graphics are pretty shocking considering how long it’s been in development, but are all the criticisms justified? A few quotes from reviews we’ve picked out include the lines ‘embarrassing‘ (GameTrailers), ‘Duke deserves better‘ (PALGN) and ‘This game takes an icon and turns him into a laughingstock‘ (Gamespot) – ouch on that last one.

What are your thoughts on the miserable scores for Duke Nukem Forever, did it really deserve a 0/10?

As the new Duke Nukem Forever is out for consoles and PCs, there is the view that it is needed on the Apple iPad iOS.

In an article by Tim Conneally on betanews his general review was the idea of Duke Nukem Forever coming out on a console first was stupid. Not that it is a bad game but just on the wrong platforms. Duke Nukem Forever by 2K Games is the latest in the Duke Nukem series.

As far as first person shooters go this is not a bad game. Near the start you get to bring down a spaceship with massive laser gun, you also get to drive a remote controlled car to gain certain game upgrades. At one point, you will shrink to about the size of an action toy and have to move obstacles to flee rooms.

With great puzzle games, this is a fun game but lacks the capabilities available with touch screen devices. An example is given as to gaining ego points by doing a finishing move, playing pinball, shooting balls through hoops and hitting a bag to get you ego up; this would all seem easier by movements instead of buttons.

At one point to obtain ego points you, have to sign an autograph, with a console this feature is not an easy or preferable task. The mini games will also show a need for touch screen capabilities. Maybe many first person shooters have the qualities ideal for devices like the iPad. By the looks of it, Duke Nukem Forever is definitely one.

Do you think Duke Nukem Forever is better suited to the touchscreen or do you prefer the feel of the console? For more details, head over to betanews.com.

We have some good news for those of you with a copy of Duke Nukem Forever and are struggling to locate the hidden phone messages aspect of the game. We have a video for you to watch now, which will show you the exact locations for the phone messages.

For those of you who aren’t aware, collecting these phone messages in the game will lock a secret achievement called Call Waiting, which will add 25 gamer points to your score, or give you a silver trophy if you have the PS3 version.

The video has been provided by YouTube user SSDD2K, with the help of Rogue Ghost providing the gameplay. There are a total of 14 phone messages hidden in the game, and you’ll need to pay close attention to the video, including the description if you want to find them all and unlock the achievement.

You’ll have to spend a bit of time in Duke Nukem’s ‘Titty City’, as there’s actually 4 phone messages hidden in this part of the game. The phones themselves are not hard to spot, but it’s easy to overlook a particular area, especially if you are concentrating on taking out bad guys all the time or taking a look at all the eye candy.

Have you found any other secrets in Duke Nuke Forever? Let us know if the video helped you. We’ll inform you if we spot any other notable secrets for the game that you might be interested in.

Duke Nukem has been a classic character to many of our hearts, best known for his derogatory quotes and testosterone-fuelled stature. He had begun to fade after a few hit games in the early 90s as the world evolved and gaming took a new turn and became more realistic. IGN’s review of the latest revival shows that the decision to bring back Duke may have been a mistake.

IGN say that Duke has not taken very well to the ageing process, it appears that most reviews say the game is haggard and past its ‘best before’ date so to speak. So what was it about the game that made IGN score the popular icon an embarrassingly low 5.5 score in their review?

They said that the lack of detail in the game’s graphics accompanied by the poor frame rate were reasons enough to send the score shooting downwards. Would you believe that this was the game’s peak aspect according to the review? The sound and gameplay aspect all took a beating alongside the graphics.

So overall, it looks like Duke shot himself in the foot big time with this release. IGN has rated it low and labelled it mediocre with their score of 5.5. What are your views on the game and will you be buying it still?

If you live in North America and you’re one of the many gamers that have been waiting to hear about when the much-anticipated Duke Nukem: Critical Mass game would be arriving for the Nintendo DS, then I’m pleased to announce that we have just the news you have been waiting for.

According to a recent justpushstart.com article by Josh Garibay, the publisher Apogee Software has recently revealed the North American release date and the great news is that you don’t have to wait very long at all. In fact, you can start playing the new Nintendo DS title as from May 25th.

The upcoming Duke Nukem: Critical Mass game – which has been available in Europe since last month – features 9 different chapters containing a total of 27 missions. However, the game also includes additional Boss Battle and Jet Pack levels, with bosses to battle against in every chapter.

It also features five different styles of gameplay including third-person / cover fire, side-scroll, jet pack mode, sniper mode and boss battle mode. Players also have the choice of 15 different types of weapons, as well as plenty of babes to rescue and multiple and secret ways to earn in-game points.

Do you live in North America? If so, will you be buying the Duke Nukem: Critical Mass game?

Although you might not realise it, there’s another Duke Nukem game coming out, aside from Duke Nukem Forever. It’s called Duke Nukem: Critical Mass and it’s coming to the Nintendo DS this week in Europe, although US DS owners will have to wait until next month to get their hands on it.

We have the latest trailer from the game to show you now, and it gives you a good look at the type of gameplay you’ll be up against – and in our opinion it doesn’t look too pretty. We would have preferred a Duke Nukem 3D approach to the game, but Critical Mass is a side-scrolling 2D 3D platformer, with graphics that certainly don’t impress from where we are standing.

Then again, this is a DS game we’re talking about – don’t get confused with a 3DS game, because it definitely isn’t. However, the game will feature the trademark Duke quotes and familiar scantily clad bikini girls and pigs dressed in police uniforms that we all grew up loving back in the day.

If you can get past the graphics, the game is due out Friday April 8th in the UK, May 11th for US gamers. Watch the trailer below and tell us if you think Duke deserves better.

Since Duke Nukem Forever was surprisingly revealed at PAX 2010 there has been a huge buzz surrounding the franchise’s revival.

Today we have come across 14 screenshots from 2011 release, we have embedded a couple below, however you can see them all here.

The screenshots do not really reveal anything we didn’t already know, however they do at least show that the graphics are up to standard. This should mean that the final product should look great.

One of the screens (embedded below) shows a very formidable opponent called Cycloid, another of the screens show that you will be able to drink beer and throw pipebombs and tripmines. You can see the Xbox 360 controller config here.

Do you like the look of the Duke Nukem Forever screens?

Back in 2008 we asked you if you would want Doom 4 or Duke Nukem Forever first, and our readers made it clear that they had been waiting “forever” for Duke Nukem Forever. In April 2009 was the sad news that Duke Nukem creators (3D Realms) had closed, and this led to many unanswered questions.

Then in April 2010 we had more positive news, which showed some leaked screenshots and video for the apparently binned Duke Nukem Forever. The story is one of the longest running we have seen, and it’s sad to see it unfold the way it has.

Duke Nukem Forever gets a graphics upgrade it deserves – PAX Prime 2010 had a surprise reveal of Duke Nukem Forever, and visitors were lucky enough to get hands-on time with the game, yes-REAL gameplay.

The video below shows an exclusive interview at PAX Prime 2010 with Brian Martel, from Gearbox. He explains that the game has been a long time coming, and because of so many let downs over the years, what better way to show Duke Nukem Forever than an unexpected demo.

They have let gamers play a couple of levels; one is a really early beginning level. Watch the video below to learn more. For some extended gameplay (over 13mins) see this article.
