We have some surprising news to bring you now, and you’ll probably want to look away if you’re a Duke Nukem fan, as it has been revealed that the latest game Duke Nukem Forever, has received a 0/10 score on aggregate review website Metacritic.

If you’ve taken a look at the Metacritic review page for the game, you’ll have seen that the reviews are not too favorable for Duke’s long awaited return unfortunately, but we still didn’t expect to see a 0/10 right at the bottom of the pile.

On closer inspection, the 0/10 score provided by 1UP actually seems to be a result of Metacritics scoring system, rather than 1UP just being blatently harsh towards the game. They actually reviewed the game an ‘F’, and Metacritic took this lettered score and translated it into a 0.

With the terrible score aside, do you really think the game is that bad? We do realise that the graphics are pretty shocking considering how long it’s been in development, but are all the criticisms justified? A few quotes from reviews we’ve picked out include the lines ‘embarrassing‘ (GameTrailers), ‘Duke deserves better‘ (PALGN) and ‘This game takes an icon and turns him into a laughingstock‘ (Gamespot) – ouch on that last one.

What are your thoughts on the miserable scores for Duke Nukem Forever, did it really deserve a 0/10?

As the new Duke Nukem Forever is out for consoles and PCs, there is the view that it is needed on the Apple iPad iOS.

In an article by Tim Conneally on betanews his general review was the idea of Duke Nukem Forever coming out on a console first was stupid. Not that it is a bad game but just on the wrong platforms. Duke Nukem Forever by 2K Games is the latest in the Duke Nukem series.

As far as first person shooters go this is not a bad game. Near the start you get to bring down a spaceship with massive laser gun, you also get to drive a remote controlled car to gain certain game upgrades. At one point, you will shrink to about the size of an action toy and have to move obstacles to flee rooms.

With great puzzle games, this is a fun game but lacks the capabilities available with touch screen devices. An example is given as to gaining ego points by doing a finishing move, playing pinball, shooting balls through hoops and hitting a bag to get you ego up; this would all seem easier by movements instead of buttons.

At one point to obtain ego points you, have to sign an autograph, with a console this feature is not an easy or preferable task. The mini games will also show a need for touch screen capabilities. Maybe many first person shooters have the qualities ideal for devices like the iPad. By the looks of it, Duke Nukem Forever is definitely one.

Do you think Duke Nukem Forever is better suited to the touchscreen or do you prefer the feel of the console? For more details, head over to betanews.com.

We have some good news for those of you with a copy of Duke Nukem Forever and are struggling to locate the hidden phone messages aspect of the game. We have a video for you to watch now, which will show you the exact locations for the phone messages.

For those of you who aren’t aware, collecting these phone messages in the game will lock a secret achievement called Call Waiting, which will add 25 gamer points to your score, or give you a silver trophy if you have the PS3 version.

The video has been provided by YouTube user SSDD2K, with the help of Rogue Ghost providing the gameplay. There are a total of 14 phone messages hidden in the game, and you’ll need to pay close attention to the video, including the description if you want to find them all and unlock the achievement.

You’ll have to spend a bit of time in Duke Nukem’s ‘Titty City’, as there’s actually 4 phone messages hidden in this part of the game. The phones themselves are not hard to spot, but it’s easy to overlook a particular area, especially if you are concentrating on taking out bad guys all the time or taking a look at all the eye candy.

Have you found any other secrets in Duke Nuke Forever? Let us know if the video helped you. We’ll inform you if we spot any other notable secrets for the game that you might be interested in.

The long-awaited (14 years to be precise) Duke Nukem Forever game finally made its way into stores across the world last week and although it was possibly one of the most-anticipated games of this year, the title was unfortunately met with a rather disappointing reception.

However, as Ben Parfitt from mcvuk.com reports, despite its poor reviews, the Duke Nukem Forever game has managed to top the UK All-Formats Games Chart. This of course means that the hugely popular L.A. Noire game has been knocked off the top spot after holding the position for 3 weeks.

Meanwhile, Sucker Punch Productions’ PlayStation 3 exclusive InFamous 2 debuted at number 4 in the charts, and THQ’s Red Faction: Armageddon claimed 8th position in its very first week of release. 505 Games’ Zumba Fitness showed just how popular it still is by climbing from fourth place to third.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean took fifth position in the charts, while Codemasters’ Dirt 3 took 6th place and Splash Damages’ Brink took seventh position. Call of Duty: Black Ops is still hanging on in there in the top 10 at ninth position, while the first-person puzzle platformer Portal 2 finished off the top 10.

Are you surprised to see Duke Nukem Forever at the top of the UK Games Chart?

Duke Nukem has been a classic character to many of our hearts, best known for his derogatory quotes and testosterone-fuelled stature. He had begun to fade after a few hit games in the early 90s as the world evolved and gaming took a new turn and became more realistic. IGN’s review of the latest revival shows that the decision to bring back Duke may have been a mistake.

IGN say that Duke has not taken very well to the ageing process, it appears that most reviews say the game is haggard and past its ‘best before’ date so to speak. So what was it about the game that made IGN score the popular icon an embarrassingly low 5.5 score in their review?

They said that the lack of detail in the game’s graphics accompanied by the poor frame rate were reasons enough to send the score shooting downwards. Would you believe that this was the game’s peak aspect according to the review? The sound and gameplay aspect all took a beating alongside the graphics.

So overall, it looks like Duke shot himself in the foot big time with this release. IGN has rated it low and labelled it mediocre with their score of 5.5. What are your views on the game and will you be buying it still?

The long-awaited and much-hyped Duke Nukem Forever game may not be arriving in worldwide stores until the end of this week (early next week for North American gamers), but that doesn’t appear to have stopped information regarding DLC plans from being leaked before the game’s release.

As Tom Phillips from eurogamer.net recently noted, details of the DLC plans were discovered within files in the upcoming video game’s demo. If the information is to be believed, then the Duke Nukem Forever game will be receiving at least 3 different packs of downloadable content.

The first pack is said to contain four new weapons including a sticky grenade, a mini-gun, a ‘noob tube’ and the ‘BFG,’ a large plasma weapon found in Quake and Doom. The second downloadable content pack is said to provide players with three new deathmatch maps: ‘Map 3,’ ‘LKR’ and ‘EDF Base.’

As for the third DLC pack, this is believed to include fifteen new single player maps, a karaoke machine, the ‘Impregnader’ weapon and arm wrestling. The latest information tallies up with what Jon St. John (the voice of Duke Nukem) previously said about there being add-on packs and features.

Are you waiting for the Duke Nukem Forever game to arrive? What do you think of the DLC that’s been mentioned?

Back in February we announced the special ‘Balls of Steel Edition’ of the long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever game, which as some of you may know includes a Duke Nukem collectible bust, a 100-page hardcover artwork book, a Duke Nukem comic book and some stickers and postcards.

However, if the ‘Balls of Steel Edition’ didn’t appeal to you in any way, then maybe you will like the recently announced ‘Fully Loaded Package.’ According to Bryce Wilson at ripten.com, the Fully Loaded Package includes a Limited Edition EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Duke Nukem graphics card.

The limited edition graphics card isn’t the only cool thing that gamers will receive either, as it also comes with a custom Duke Nukem ‘Radioactive’ belt buckle, a limited edition Duke Nukem Forever mousepad, The History, Legacy and Legend of Duke Nukem Forever art book and the full game.

As noted in the reipten.com article, the GTX 560 comes with a number of inputs and a Core Clock Speed of 810MHz. Unfortunately we have no word on exactly how much you would have to pay out for the special ‘Fully Loaded Package’ of Duke Nukem Forever.

Do you like the sound of the Duke Nukem Forever Fully Loaded Package?

We have some interesting news now for those of you that haven’t quite given up on the long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever game yet, as we’ve just heard that the upcoming demo has now been dated. However, it isn’t all good news, as it looks like it’s only for pre-order customers.

According to an article by Terry Lucy at godisageek.com, the developer Gearbox Software has recently released a new announcement video, to let fans know that the demo will be arriving on June 3rd across all platforms – in other words, the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

There is a catch however as we mentioned above. Those who want to be a member of the First Access Club (as the developer is calling it) will have to have pre-ordered the Duke Nukem Forever game at selected retailers. Those who buy the Borderland GOTY Edition will also gain access.

Several retailers are offering customers entry into Gearbox’s First Access Club. UK gamers can pre-order highly anticipated game at GAME, Play, Amazon, Zavvi, TheHut and Gamestop (Ireland only). Meanwhile, US gamers can order it from GameStop and Amazon.

The actual game is due to arrive in UK stores on June 10th and North American stores on June 14th. You can view the announcement trailer via the godisageek.com website. Have you pre-order Duke Nukem Forever?

If you own a PC and you’re looking forward to playing the long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever game, then we have some important information for you. Gearbox Software has just announced both the minimum and recommended PC system requirements for the upcoming game.

As Andy Robinson over at computerandvideogames.com recently noted, the minimum system requirements for the Duke Nukem Forever game – which has been in development for a record 13 years – include 256MB video memory and 10GB of free space on your hard drive.

The minimum specifications also includes a DirectX compatible sound card, an NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or ATI Radeon HD 2600 video card, 1GB memory, Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, and either an Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz processor or an AMD Athlon 64 X2 2GHz processor.

Meanwhile, the recommended system requirements are pretty much the same as the minimum in regards to operating system, hard drive space and sound card. However, recommended specs include either an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.6Ghz processor.

Other recommended system specs include 2GB memory, 512MB video memory, and either a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS or ATI Radeon HD 3850 video card. Will your PC be able to run the Duke Nukem Forever game?

We recently told you about Duke Nukem Forever had been delayed again, after being in development for over ten years. There have also been leaks of the multiplayer mode of the game recently revealed. Today we have news of more details about the actual game play before release.

Andrew Ramadge over at News.com has details of the Australian Classification Boards report which was made when awarding the game a MA15+ rating recently. In this report there are some spoilers, and obviously the content is pretty strong. The game will not be to everyone’s taste with strong violence, sex, and references to bodily waste.

The violence is strong throughout as you battle robot-like alien creatures, and has strong visual impact. In one scene Duke has to shoot women who are carrying alien babies to stop their suffering; the ones he doesn’t shoot are seen exploding as the alien baby grows.

Unsurprisingly there is a lot of strong sexual content throughout the game, with strip clubs and nudity a regular feature of the game. To read more about the content of the game from the Australian Classification Board use the link above.

Will you be getting Duke Nukem Forever when it is finally released?
