Within the last few day’s we highlighted a possibility that the new Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 / 5 could look almost the same as an AT&T version in 2011, but the hardware inside should be very different thanks to the different network systems. The idea of a chip that could run both AT&T and Verizon on one device is better for the user, but complicated for the hardware maker.

We have listened to user feedback and feel the pain of some users, which includes the idea that the new iPhone or Droid on a CDMA network might not reach full potential while cell service providers are not on the same standard. We don’t understand those that feel they should not upgrade a phone every couple of years thanks to being “forced” to trash an old phone, cell phones should still make calls two years later but may not support the latest features, you should always have a choice to upgrade.

Some people feel that technology should “slow down a little”, do you like smartphones improving at the current rate or do you feel that you have to upgrade more than you want to? Cell phones using the same charger and adapters are welcome improvements, and so would cell services working on the same standard, but to say you are forced to upgrade can be seen as a little extreme when you always have a choice.

Let us know your story. What would you like to see in the future for a Verizon iPhone and Droid, and what annoys you about cell phone design today? Has your phone ever been non-usable after technology progression?

We have some interesting news to bring you now, and particularly good reading if you are a Motorola Droid 2 owner on Verizon as it has been reported that the handset has the best dropped calls and return rates.

In BGR’s exclusive article, their source has informed them that out of all the current smartphones on the market, the Motorola Droid 2 on Verizon has the lowest dropped calls rate – which is pretty impressive if true.

We haven’t had an official comment on Motorola about this, but BGR also big up the Droid 2 by saying that return rates for the handset are the lowest too.

If you are a Droid 2 owner reading this, then you can afford to smile today – but for everyone else, maybe a move to Verizon is on the cards?

Let us know your thoughts on this – Are you a happy Verizon owner at the moment?

We have some good news to report now, as it has been confirmed that some Verizon Wireless customers are receiving a free Motorola Droid 2 handset, as a replacement for faulty Droid 1 devices.

The question is though – has it happened to you? We know it is definitely happening, as Droid-Life has posted the very letter that Verizon are currently sending out to customers, which apologies over shipment issues for the original Droid.

Here is what Verizon are telling customers: ”We apologize for the inconvenience as you have waited for your replacement Droid 1 (A855) to arrive. Due to a shortage in supply of the Droid 1 replacement devices, we have upgraded you to a brand new Droid 2 A955 device.”

How exciting is that? We’d love to get that letter from Verizon in the post. Just don’t go braking your original Droid on purpose, okay?

Can any of our readers confirm that they have received a free Droid 2 from Verizon?

We’re sorry if the title is slightly misleading but we couldn’t read this, and not share it with you guys. It looks as if a Motorola Droid knock-off is currently making the rounds over in China, but it is nothing to get excited about.

Sometimes, Chinese knock-offs can produce some high-quality devices, in some cases even better than it’s official counterpart, but with this Motorola Droid ripoff – this definitely isn’t the case.

As Phandroid reports, it is available to buy now from Chinese website M8Cool, but rather than having Android as it’s default operating system, it just runs a basic version of Windows Mobile 6.5.

Other specs include a a 3.2-megapixel camera, 533MHz processor, GPS, WiFi and 256MB of RAM – so nothing special as we said. The supplied picture of the device even shows a Motorola logo – they certainly aren’t shy over in China are they?

Unlike the Chinese iPad clone, this Droid knock-off isn’t anything special.

For those of you who are planning to update your Motorola Droid X to Android 2.2 Froyo using the recently released unofficial update – we have some bad news for you. Motorola is already on the case and has issued a C&D letter to the website responsible for hosting the update links.

As reported from Engadget, the cease and desist letter can now be viewed in it’s entirety over at My Droid World – the website which exclusively obtained the new Froyo update.

For those of you who already updated over the weekend, it is unclear what Motorola plans to do knowing that most of their users updated to a leaked ROM.

Will this make them push out an official version more quickly? Or are they planning some sort of punishment to those who updated to Froyo. We’ll give you an update on this story later.
