Earlier this week we confirmed that Crytek would be releasing an update for Crysis 2 which will add DirectX 11 support, now we can also confirm that an update will soon launch for Total War: Shogun 2 which will add DX11 support to the title, this news comes roughly a month after the game’s release date.

A recent post on the Total War forums says that substantial fixes are coming in the week and months ahead, patch 2 should arrive in early May and will add DirectX 11 compatibility, this allows compliant PCs to feature enhanced shadowing and hardware tessellation, also we have heard that it will bring anti-aliasing support.

The statement posted on the forum suggest that the game’s makers are aware of ongoing issue raised by the community and the developers seem keen to smooth out lots of multiplayer problems, however there was no mention of issues being resolved for the game’s single-player elements.

As we hear more about the changes this patch will bring we will keep you posted, the good news is that visuals should be better (for DX11 compliant rigs) and the multiplayer elements should be improved, what other changes would you like to see?

Crysis 2 was released earlier last month and with it good reviews have come, however there have been some dissapointments made vocal by buyers of the PC version when they found that the game only supported DirectX 9 software instead of the more up to date version DirectX 11.

The game has already been noted by Softpedia as having extremely good graphics even for today’s standard of games (and the PC version is the best-looking of them all), perhaps the DX11 support will make things even better.

Crytek recently posted on the MyCrysis Forum, here they said: “We would like to announce that there will be a DX11 patch released for Crysis 2″, this news is great for PC gamers who want the best out of their high-end gaming rigs, it will be interesting to see how noticeable the difference will be when the patch is rolled-out.

Softpedia make a point in saying that the game’s graphics are already very impressive so is there really any need to make a patch? But let’s face it everyone wants smoother more realistic graphics, so we doubt there will be any complaints about this news.

Would you prefer Crytek to fix / improve other aspects of the game rather than visuals? If so, what would you like to see?

Back in 2009 BioWare released Dragon Age, this game was popular with RPG fans, however PC gamers were a little disappointed to hear that DirectX 11 features were not supported, we can now confirm that Dragon Age 2 does support DirextX 11.

DirextX 11 support will result in much better visuals this time around, spell effects will benefit from DX 11′s lighting features and silhouettes and edges will appear smoother thanks to the tessellation features. Finally DX 11′s diffusion depth features will give the game a much more realistic look and feel thanks to objects very close to the camera looking blurry and objects far away being out of focus.

To be honest with you it is no huge surprise to hear that Dragon Age 2 fully supports DirectX 11 seeing as how it has been out for roughly 18 months, we just wonder whether the PC release will look better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

According to the BioWare forums the game’s requirements are pretty high, you need at least 7GB of free hard drive space, a DVD ROM, XP or later OS, 1GB of RAM (1.5GB with Vista and Windows 7), in terms of CPU you need at least a 1.8Ghz dual-core chip (AMD or Intel) and as for graphics card you need at least a Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB or NVIDIA Geforce 7900 GS 236MB.

Obviously to get the best visuals you should meet the game’s recommended requirements, these consist of at least 2GB RAM (4GB for Windows Vista / 7), Intel’s Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz or AMD Phenom II X3 Triple core 2.8 GHz (or equivalents), if you want to see all the DirectX 11 features you should opt for at least the NVIDIA 460 or ATI 5850 graphics cards.

Will you be upgrading your PC for Dragon Age 2?
