If you were to go back about 2 years, then many of you would have been active Digg users, it now seems that a huge percentage of those have become inactive. Now I am not certain if Dig is getting ready for Halloween, but they have sent out emails, which asks for you to “Resurrect Yourself.”

In the email the social networking site informs inactive users that much has changed since the last time they were active, so why not give them a try again. We have to wonder if this is real, or all part of Halloween as I suggested above.

Why would they use an image of someone trying to climb out of a coffin? Leena Rao from TechCrunch has an issue with the image in the email, saying that it is still morbid even by Halloween standards.

Maybe Digg is going for scare tactics in getting people to come back to what they once loved – but can the social networking service claw itself back from the recent slump?

After months of testing, the new version of the Digg website is up and running, and brings in some major changes to try and bring it back to the top of the social networking cycle that it once stood on top of.

Digg used to one of the pinnacles of the internet. A social link sharing website that spread all the gaming, social, tech, global or any other type of news around to friends who also used the website, or even didn’t. Things have changed since the rise of Facebook, Twitter and other social networking websites. I hardly even see a ‘Digg It?’ button anymore. This is all about to change (hopefully) with the new version of Digg v4.

One of the biggest changes to come from the website is no surprise. They focus more on the social, and as soon as you sign in, you will be asked what users you want to follow by curating a set of lists from your friends on Facebook, Twitter and Google. The site itself, looks quite a lot like its older child.

Another feature that has been upgraded is the link submission, whereas before you had to pre-load an image and description to go with the link. Those times are way behind us, as it now does all the work for us just like Facebook does when you submit a link on someone’s wall.

As the site is new and improved, and a lot of power-users still exist in making the website work, it will take sometime before new users discover Digg, and start Digg’ing it.

Do You Digg the new Digg website? Are you having any problems or issues? Let us know below.
