While Ninja Theory has been teasing users who insist on having old Dante back, by putting an amusing easter egg in DmC: Devil May Cry, it turns out that old Dante will be making a longer appearance in the game for those who are willing to pay for it. The first batch of DLC has been revealed in the form of three new costumes for Dante, one of which is his appearance from Devil May Cry that should make some of you a little happier with the situation.

Earlier this week, we’ve seen complaints over new Dante reach new levels by a White House petition, while the low scores on Metacritic are still coming in thick and fast from users who won’t be happy until a completely new game is made which returns things back to the old Devil May Cry roots.

We have a feeling those days are over though, and there’s no reason for them to return either with the new game receiving very positive review scores from official critic reviews. Enough on the ongoing debate though as there is new DLC on the way for the game, which could improve things for disgruntled gamers.

A costume skin pack will be available on January 29 in the US, January 30 in Europe and will cost £3.19, $4.00 or 320 Microsoft Points to download. For that you’ll get Neo Dante, Dark Dante, but more importantly ‘Classic Dante’ which is modelled on his DmC3 appearance.

As you can see from the image above, it looks very slick, although some of you may be unhappy that you’re having to pay for this. PC owners won’t however. Capcom has said that when the PC version of the game releases, these three costumes will be included at no extra charge for those that choose to pre-order.

It is only $4 we are talking about here though, so we think it isn’t too much of a big deal with two other costumers included as well as the return of Classic Dante. Will this now end the barrage of hate aimed at Ninja Theory, or will it continue to happen throughout the year?

Let us know if you plan to pick up the game or purchase the costume pack, now that old Dante is returning via a DLC costume.

DmC: Devil May Cry may be taking a battering from some gamers who will never be happy with the new look direction of the game, but that hasn’t stopped Ninja Theory’s reboot from storming straight to the top of the sales charts, replacing the likes of Black Ops 2 and FIFA 13 in the process. What will be the next step to try to bring the game down we wonder?

We told you in the past that the game is receiving zero mark scores on the Metacritic website, in the user review section where any member can sign up and post an opinion on the game. A quick glance again on the page, and it’s still a sad case on the user reviews section, with a score of just 4.0 out of 10 compared to the more positive 86/100 score for critic reviews.

With the game top of the UK charts, it’s clear to see that a lot of you are still enjoying the game and enjoying the fact that Dante has now taken on a new lease of life and will probably be seen once again in his younger form in a potential sequel. Capcom has said that they are fully behind Ninja Theory on the reboot and even the original Devil May Cry creator has pledged his support as well.

There will always be the minority though, and in this case – one individual and 25 other followers who have decided to ask the White House and President Obama for help in overturning Ninja Theory’s decision to create a young Dante. They complain that it ‘violates their right to have a choice’ between the original games and the reboot, adding that Obama should ‘pull it off the shelves due to its insulting nature’.

Good luck with that. At the time of writing, they still need a further 99,974 votes to get an official response from the White House. Let us know if you have bought the new Devil May Cry game and what your thoughts are on this attempt to get Obama’s attention.

Earlier this week we told you how DmC: Devil May Cry had been positively received in the collection of official reviews for the game which have now gone live. The ending result so far was a score in the 80s on Metacritic, but unfortunately the game has now taken a battering on Metacritic’s user reviews section, with countless ‘fans’ uploading scores of 0 for the game.

If you have played the new Devil May Cry game or at least played the demo, you should know that the game definitely isn’t zero marks quality as many users are suggesting. It’s a classic case of fans trying to vent their anger when a decision doesn’t go their way and now Ninja Theory has to deal with the fact that many fans are still unhappy with the direction in which Devil May Cry as a series has taken, despite the game receiving a lot of praise from official reviews.

Head to Metacritic yourself here to see the damage. We see a critic score of 86 out of 100 for the game, followed by a 29 out of 100 score for user reviews with 270 users uploading a review. Reading through some of the zero scores for the game, here is one in particular for you to see, giving you an idea of some of the reasoning behind the criticism:

”I dislike this game because, it’s too much different from the previous titles and it’s different in a bad way. I am totally shocked how they changed the main character, and casualised the gameplay. I do believe it could’ve been a good game if it had a different name, but as a DMC game it’s a total disaster.”

While it may be a ‘total disaster’ for that person, the game definitely isn’t a total disaster on the whole and you only need to read some of the official reviews to see that the game takes great strides forward. On top of the criticism, it’s nice to see that Ninja Theory the developers have a sense of humor about all of it, as you’ll see in the brilliant Easter Egg clip below which features a flashback to old Dante followed by the words ‘not in a million years’.

Even the original Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya has put his support behind the game, despite the fact that he’s now no longer with Capcom and is now working at Platinum Games. In one of his tweets about DmC, he has stated the game is a very ‘unique’ title and that he honestly hopes that ‘people enjoy it’.

This isn’t going to stop the hate though is it? Take a look at the Metacritic scores for yourself and let us know what you think about them. Is the criticism totally unjustified now after having a chance to play the game yourself?

Dante now appears to be back in public favor for positive reasons and if you needed one last push to tempt you into a purchase on console this week, we now have over one hour of uninterrupted gameplay footage for you to enjoy.

You only need to have a quick look on Metacritic to see how well the game is already performing, with an impressive 86 critic score and countless other positive user reviews likely to come later on, when the game is picked up by fans later today. The game is available on Xbox 360 and PS3 only this week, with a PC version to follow 10 days later before the end of January – at least there is no sizeable gap this time around.

We now have some gameplay for you to check out, courtesy of VG247 which provides all you need to know about the game before deciding whether to pick it up. The live stream starts midway into the game at mission 4 and you’ll immediately be introduced to the action as the demonic cameras identify Dante and start bringing more bad guys for him to kill.

You’ll see plenty of mid-air combos on offer and if you keep watching, you’ll also get a detailed look at how the upgrade system will work when visiting divinity statues located in the game. You can upgrade all of Dante’s weapons such as his Ebony and Ivory guns, or upgrade his core skills as well – the preview video inside the upgrade section is a nice touch.

Take a look at the live stream gameplay below for yourself and let us know if you have now changed your mind about the game. Do you think the reboot is even better than the old Devil Cry Games?

It is Devil May Cry week as most of you are well aware and we have some good news. We previously informed you of some early reviews going live for the game before the end of the year, but now the official reviews are in. In a period where we have had death threats aimed against Ninja Theory for their new direction with Dante, the reviews suggest that the initial criticism was not justified with DmC: Devil May Cry earning very high scores all round.

The game is set to be released on console this Tuesday, with a PC version to follow later on in the month. Dante has been reimagined by the developers over at Ninja Theory with Capcom’s blessing and it looks like the ending result hasn’t been too bad at all.

Reviews scores are now being compiled as we speak and so far, we’re yet to see a score below 8/10. Gametrailers have given the game an 8.5/10, Eurogamer an 8/10, CVG a 9/10 and there’s a 9/10 from the folks over at Destructoid as well. To pick out a few positive comments that we’ve seen, we hear from Eurogamer on how Ninja Theory almost has a ‘classic‘ already on their hands and that they have ‘absolutely nailed the leading man and combat system’.

Elsewhere, Jim Sterling from Destructoid has given the game a glowing report with his 9/10, saying that DmC Devil May Cry is a ‘hallmark of excellence’ and that little flaws won’t do any damage to what otherwise is a supreme title. With all that said and done, we wonder how all of the individuals who disliked YouTube videos for the sake of it and sent death threats to Ninja Theory are feeling now?

Young Dante is here to stay and the excellent review scores will probably mean that we’ll now see a sequel in the not too distant future. Read some of the reviews below and let us know your own opinions of the review scores. We’ve added a video review from GamesTrailers if you want to see some footage before picking the game up later this week.

Eurogamer – 8/10

Destructoid – 9/10

CVG – 9/10

We have some further good news for those of you planning to pick up Devil May Cry later this month when it releases on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The Bloody Palace has become a very popular additional game mode aside to the main single player mode and you’ll be glad to hear that the mode will once again be featured in Ninja Theory’s reboot game, allowing you to test your skills across wave upon wave of enemies that increase in difficulty.

Prior to release, we have told you about some early reviews that went live for the game, positive reviews we may add which cast the reboot in a very good light. We then provided you with some detailed gameplay footage showing off some of the story mode missions and bosses that will be included in the game.

Now Capcom has confirmed on their blog that the Bloody Palace is returning to Devil May Cry and just like the mode in previous games in the franchise, it’s going to be a free download again. Capcom hasn’t said exactly when this will happen, but they did say that the update will be taking place after launch.

You’ll also be pleased to hear that the Bloody Palace in DmC won’t contain the tedious 9,999 floors of enemies like we saw in Devil May Cry 2+3. Instead there will be around 100 levels to go through and hopefully there will be some nice rewards in place as well such as exclusive weapons or costumes.

Capcom has also confirmed that there will be at least five uber hard bosses to deal with as you progress through the Palace as well, so that’s something for DmC veterans to look forward to. Let us know if you have played this bonus mode on older games in the past and if you managed to complete it or not. Is it worth trying once you have completed the game?

If you are planning to pick up the imminent Devil May Cry reboot from Ninja Theory, we have a treat in store for you with an uninterrupted gameplay marathon. DmC:Devil May Cry is not due out until January 15, but we have a collection of videos to show you, including some exclusive footage of some specific missions and bosses that you’ll encounter when playing through the single player mode in the game.

Before we get down to the juicy footage, we’ve noticed that all of the gameplay videos of the new Devil May Cry game have been met by a wave of dislikes by disgruntled fans who are still bitter that old Dante isn’t returning. We have a feeling that a good number are just disliking the videos for the sake of it, but after having watched the footage ourselves, we have to say that the game is actually looking very nice.

We’ve also seen a lot of positive feedback from the demo as well, so it’s not all doom and gloom as one may think by looking at the YouTube like and dislike count. Some of the interactive environments in various levels look pretty stunning actually and we have a feeling that Ninja Theory may have a hit on their hands when the game finally releases.

Eurogamer has provided us with the early gameplay marathon, as we have footage showing an initial hands on preview for the game, as well as a sneak peek look at missions 8 and 9 as well. You’ll see glimpses of some of the bosses that are featured in the game and one visually impressive level that involves using Dante’s angel glide move to navigate around several tricky platforms in succession before facing a new type of demon that protects herself with a shield and can only be harmed when in devil mode.

We liked the old Devil May Cry games too, but we think it’s time to move on. This doesn’t look like a bad game at all and hopefully the reviews will reflect that when they start to go online. Take a look at the gameplay below and let us know what side of the fence you are on.

Do you support the new vision of Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry, or will you not be happy until Capcom brings back the original Dante?

If you are planning to pick up the highly anticipated Devil May Cry Reboot, you’ll be pleased to hear that the first reviews for the game have already gone live in several publications. Online reviews are not available for viewing for quite some time yet of course, but there’s nothing stopping print reviews from being available. Based on two reviews that we’ve seen, the early signs are good, with high review scores perhaps justifying the long wait for the return of Dante.

If you have already downloaded the demo on console, you will have an idea on what the all-new Devil May Cry universe looks like with a younger version of Dante that initially drew in considerable criticism towards Capcom and developers Ninja Theory. After three years of development though, DmC: Devil May Cry is almost ready for release and will be available to buy on January 15 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and a week later on PC.

For those of you familiar with the official Xbox 360 Magazine and plan to pick up January’s issue in 2013, you’ll be pleased to hear that inside contains a review for Devil May Cry and even better – a very pleasing 9/10 score. The news was revealed thanks to animator Bryn Richards who worked on the game for Ninja Theory, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little bit longer before being able to actually read the review.

Elsewhere, another Devil May Cry publication review has gone live, this time from Swedish magazine LEVEL who have again given Devil May Cry an impressive 9/10. Thanks to some additional information on Neogaf, there are some details from this particular review, as we hear that DmC veterans ‘will feel at home’ and that the control system is ‘even better’ than what was previously available in the older games.

We expect that online reviews won’t be available for around another two weeks, but this is a great indication that the reboot may well be worth picking up. If you were previously uninterested in the game, let us know if these two review scores have now caught your attention.

Have you played the Devil May Cry demo and intend to pick this up, or do you still prefer the old DmC games with classic Dante?

We have some rather shocking news to bring you now, as it has been revealed that Ninja Theory, the team behind the Devil May Cry reboot have actually received death threats from so called gaming fans who are unhappy with the direction that Dante is now heading.

As most Devil May Fans are aware, DMC4 was the last game in the series to release and it was a game that was met with a wave of criticism due to repetition and below par dialogue in the game’s story mode.

That alone is questionable, but the deciding outcome was that Capcom chose to reboot the series completely, with Ninja Theory chosen as the team to develop the first game with its new vision. DMC: Devil May Cry introduces a new look and younger Dante to fans, and explains how Dante first came to possess his demon powers, essentially exploring the backgrounds and foundations before the first Devil May Cry game took place.

Now with that in mind, obviously a lot of gamers are not happy that Dante has been redesigned and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but surely death threats are not the answer. Ninja Theory creative boss Tameem Antoniades has confirmed that the team has received death threats in the form of ‘comic books’ and even songs, with Antoniades trying maintain a sense of humor about the whole thing.

Here is a portion of what he said when speaking to OXM, “It’s pretty hard for me to back the decisions we made without showing actual gameplay to the public. So until that time comes, and it will come soon, I just have to put up with the rage. We’ll see how this plays out.”

On a more pleasing aspect, the developer is confident that premature outbursts on the game will eventually die out after Ninja Theory reveal proper gameplay footage of DMC. Until that happens though, expect the hate to continue. If you are currently displeased with the new Devil May Cry reboot, let us know your thoughts on Ninja Theory receiving death threats. Let’s hope that they stop from this point on.

Back in February we brought you news of rumors that a Devil May Cry HD collection was coming to consoles, and then in June we found evidence that confirmed these rumors when a Spanish retailer revealed the collection even stating a release date of November 30th. Now Capcom has finally given the collection an official announcement.

While this is exciting news for fans of the franchise and new fans who are yet to experience the series, we are going to have to wait until ‘early 2012’ before we can download it. Unfortunately this official release date is as specific as it gets for those in North America however Europeans can expect the collection to hit their online console stores on February 10th.

The high definition collection of the classic PS2 series will include updated versions of Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry. According to CVG they will feature ‘a wealth of new bonus content for fans and newcomers alike’ as well as additional Trophy and Achievement support. No price has been listed for those in Europe and UK despite a price of $39.99 being revealed for those in the U.S.

Although the news is not really a surprise considering the previous rumors and the developers hinted at revamped editions of the series, it is still welcome news. The Devil May Cry franchise is one of Capcom’s more popular series of games, with each game having the ability to pick-up-and-play and providing hours of button-bashing fun. It will be interesting to see how the graphics compare to the newer games once they have been given an HD makeover too.

Meanwhile Devil May Cry 5 is also expected to hit consoles soon. It has already been met with some criticism over the changes that have been made, especially concerning the look of Dante’s character. Check out the trailer below to see some of the changes for yourself. Are you looking forward to downloading the HD collection?
