Dead Space 2: free multiplayer map pack DLC announced

We have some rather interesting news now for those of you that have the Dead Space 2 game but maybe haven’t played the multiplayer side for a while, as we’ve just discovered that a new free multiplayer DLC map pack has recently been announced by the publisher Electronic Arts.

As John Houlihan over on the computerandvideogames.com website recently noted, the downloadable content comes in the form of the ‘Outbreak’ map pack. The upcoming map pack will contain a total of two brand new multiplayer maps: The Academy and Concourse.

Xbox 360 owners will be able to download the new map pack as from May 31st, while PlayStation 3 owners have to wait until June 3rd to start playing the new maps. There has unfortunately been no word on the DLC heading to the PC, so we don’t know whether PC gamers will receive it or not.

The great thing about the upcoming ‘Outbreak’ DLC is the fact that it won’t cost you anything to download, which as John states is a refreshing change in the age where you have to pay for DLC. Do you own a copy of the Dead Space 2 game? If so, will you be downloading the new downloadable content?

Dead Space 2: Trailer / Release Date for ‘Severed’ DLC Pack

If you’ve been waiting to hear more information on the upcoming ‘Severed’ DLC pack for the Dead Space 2 game, then we can tell you that you’re in luck. Not only has Visceral Games just released a trailer for the much-awaited DLC, but we’ve also got news on a release date and price.

According to a recent article over at justpushstart.com by Oliver East, the ‘Severed’ DLC pack provides players with a brand new chapter featuring both Gabe and Lexine from Dead Space: Extraction. The trailer for the upcoming content can be viewed below this post.

As Delriach over on thesixthaxis.com website recently noted, the ‘Severed’ DLC pack will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace as from March 1st, for a price of $6.99 / 560 Microsoft Points. It will then release on the PSN in Europe on March 2nd.

Fans of the series may be pleased to know that the Twitcher from the original Dead Space game will be making a return for the upcoming downloadable content. Gabe Weller will be equipped with an upgraded Pulse Rifle, as well as a “one-of-a-kind security suit.”

Another Dead Space 2 Review For Xbox 360

The release of Dead Space 2 is only just a few days away now; the game is being tipped as one of the biggest releases this year. For those of you who are planning on picking up a copy we have a good review for you.

Greg Miller of IGN has spent quite a time playing his way through the game, and goes on to write a long review. He starts off by saying Dead Space 2 is an amazing game, and even after finishing the single player mode for the first time, went on to start it again.

You start off with the main character Isaac Clarke waking up on a space station. Trouble is the station has been overtaken by an outbreak of reanimated corpses called Necromorphs.

The aim of the game is to find and destroy the thing causing all the trouble which is the religious idol, otherwise known as the Marker. One of the reviewer’s favorite parts of the game is Isaac’s internal hallucinations and conversations. Other features which were liked where the combat, Isaac is fast and light on his feet.

Dead Space 2 was played over and over, but it was pointed out that each time can be different with plenty of different things to be unlocked. One thing which was not liked was the multiplayer mode, players are put into two teams; with the humans have a task which the Necromorphs out to stop them at all costs. On playing the multiplayer mode it was found not to be much fun.

Finally the review was finished off by the Miller saying the game is more than just an action or survival horror game, it tells a personal story about a guy scarred by what’s going on around him. He concluded that Dead Space 2 is a great game and worth your time and money.

Dead Space 3: Teaser Coming with Dead Space 2 Game?

Although the Dead Space 2 game hasn’t even arrived in stores yet, we’re already hearing reports about a Dead Space 3 title. In fact, US gaming magazine Game Informer seems to think that the DS3 game is a certainty, and even mentioned a teaser in their recent review of Dead Space 2.

While writing the review for Dead Space 2 (an impressive 90/100 I hasten to add), the Game Informer magazine wrote: “The tease for Dead Space 3 has my head spinning with questions.” Could this mean a DS3 trailer at the end of the second game perhaps?

As Tom Ivan over at computerandvideogames.com notes, the reviewer most likely means that the Dead Space 2 game ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Judging by the great critical response that DS2 has received so far, a third title in the series could well be a possibility.

The Dead Space 2 game – which will be available for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 – will be arriving in US stores on January 25th and European stores on January 28th. A new trailer has just been released for Dead Space 2 and according to Sal Romano at scrawlfx.com, it’s rather intense.

Dead Space 2: Full List of Xbox 360 Achievements

We have some good news for those of you planning to pick up the Xbox 360 version of Dead Space 2 in January, as it looks like we have a confirmed list of achievements which you’ll be able to unlock in the game.

The list comes to you courtesy of Xbox360Achievements.org, as they have managed to obtain a full list of the 50 achievements which you can get.

35 of the 50 have already been detailed, but there are also a further 15 ‘secret achievements’ which you’ll have to find and unlock yourself if you want to know what they are.

Some of the achievements include 50 points for ‘Completing the game on Zealot setting’, while more adventurous ones include things like ‘Going for Distance’ – which requires players to ”Impale an enemy and make him fly through the air for 17 meters – it must stick to the surface.” Completing that particular challenge will reward you with 20 points to your total Gamerscore.

If you want to see the full list, head to the link above. What are your thoughts on the full list? Are there any which you are excited about? We have to say that ‘Taste of your own medicine’ and ‘My Boom Stick’ look particularly appealing.

In case you are interested, there were only 48 achievements to unlock in Dead Space 1, so you’ll be getting an extra 2 here for the sequel. If you manage to find every single achievement in the game, including the secret ones, you’ll earn yourself a total of 1000 points for your Gamerscore.

Dead Space 2 is due out January 25th.

Official Dead Space 2 Demo Release: EA’s Crimbo Present to You

Ok guys, there were rumors earlier in the week surrounding a Dead Space 2 demo being released before Christmas. When producer Steve Papoutsis was asked “Can a demo be released as a Christmas gift for us all?” Steve’s response was “A lot of people are asking that question. Gonna have to do some thinking about that.” At the same time he drew a deep breath whilst clenching his teeth. Well now it has been confirmed.

Brilliant, he knew perfectly well it was coming and the demo was probably ready at that point. Yet he let us believe that it may or may not be on its way. The official demo will be available on December 21st in the US and 22nd in the EU on the PlayStation store, this is a full 5 weeks before the release late in January.

So what will you be able to do in the demo? You will get to experience the new advanced suit, use a variety of the new weapons. Something I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere is playing the online multiplayer mode but I am quite happy with a look at the story.

A lot of you are probably thinking that this was an instant buy already (as was I) but now we get a taster before the release which is fantastic. I guess this means Merry Christmas from EA, thanks guys.

Dead Space 2: Demo Release Date – Christmas?

For all of you that are waiting eagerly for the 2011 releases such as Killzone 3, Mass Effect 2 to name a few then we may have little present lined up for you for Christmas. Dead Space 2 is another game that is being talked about a lot and it will be released in January but there is also a rumor circulating that there will be a demo of the game released at Christmas.

According to Robert Purchese at eurogamer.net a question was put to the games executive producer Steve Papoutsis in the Q&A video on their Facebook page that got everyone thinking and hoping. The question was “Can a demo be released as a Christmas gift for us all?” Steve’s response was “A lot of people are asking that question. Gonna have to do some thinking about that.” At the same time he drew a deep breath whilst clenching his teeth.

Steve went on to say “But I would stay on your toes, stick on the Facebook page and you never know.” he winked whilst saying this. Sounds pretty promising! You can view the video here.

Dead Space 2 is set on a large space station called Sprawl where you will be shooting your way through Necromorph monsters and from the video on eurogamer.com looks like a pretty chilling game. I for one am definitely looking forward to this and I am sure you are too.

Dead Space 2 (Xbox 360, PS3 and PC): 6 Impressive Screenshots

Yesterday we posted an article which previewed the Dead Space 2 video game, although this gave you some insight about the game, it didn’t really show the game’s look and feel, however we have recently come across some new screens for the game.

There are six new screens which have been posted on ComputerandVideoGames (here), we have embedded a few of these screens at the end of this post, scroll down to see them.

The screens show some pretty impressive gameplay graphics, however it is obvious that this game is not raising the bar for future games.

As these are early screens things could get better when developers have finalized the code, check out the images below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, remember to see all 6 screens check out ComputerandVideoGames (link below).

Dead Space 2 (Xbox 360, PS3 and PC): First Look Preview

Dead Space 2 has been doing the rounds recently, and with every bit of new information, it seems that players and gamers who enjoyed the first, are eager to see what the next game will hold in store for them.

Gamers who have seen the Dead Space 2 demo will definitely have got a taste of what to expect from the newest installment. That being said, do you believe it is living up to the hype?

You once again play the part of Isaac Clarke, who this time has awakened from a coma in a mass cityscape called “The Sprawl”. The events from the first game have left Isaac scarred with dementia, and is haunted by visions of his former girlfriend. But that’s not all, he is also been hunted and plagued by the government and Necromorphs.

Dead Space 2 (which will hopefully be arriving this December) will give players new ways to tear off the limbs of his necro-enemies, there will also be a vast array of new creatures and villains. New dynamic environments are also been shown, that pathe the way to show you how you can manipulate the environment to progress throughout the game.

Other new features and weapons such as the Javelin Gun are also implemented, which could see the player shoot a spike into an enemy, impaling them against the wall before reaching for an electricity device which can be used to barbecue them.

One more interesting point from the demo, showed Isaac surrounded by enemies. Low on ammo, his only option was to brake a decompression window which saw all his enemies flung out into the nothingness of space before quickly activating an emergency close button to save him from the same fate.

Dead Space 2 is most definitely shaping up to be a very interesting game, and with E3 coming up, more information should be revealed. You never know, even the PlayStation Move could have some part in the game. Only time will tell.

Dead Space 2 (PS3 and Xbox 360): Official “Dementia” Trailer Revealed

Dead Space 2 fans were in a state of excitement on Tuesday, when they received a letter in the post from Visceral Games which forced them to work out a puzzle. In the end, the ones that took part finally worked out the riddle and found the date 04/29/10 etched into the inkblot.

All evidence was pointed toward a trailer being released, and like clockwork the trailer has infact been unveiled. To view the new trailer check out this link, we have also embedded the video at the end of our post.

The trailer did actually make an early appearance on YouTube yesterday (Wednesday), but was quickly pulled by EA due to a copyright claim. Still, this did not stop few Dead Space fans from seeing it.

The trailer, entitled “Dementia” includes the usual Dead Space content; Necromorphs, Necromorphs vomiting, the Marker, coded alien runes and one new look at Mr. Isaac Clark.
