This DLC is titled ‘Ryder White’ and it consists of a new playable character and several hours of additional content, we have been promised plenty of twists and turns which will reveal more about the game’s many incidents and chances to see Ryder White as a loving husband and a military man.

Apparently the Ryder White DLC will hit Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network on February 1, it will cost 800 Microsoft points for the 360, which works out to the same as the $9.99 asking price at the PlayStation Store and Steam. To us $10 for several hours of additional content sounds reasonable, also we have been told to expect new weapons and blueprints and we are pretty sure that there will be new Achievements and Trophies to aim for.

Towards the bottom of this post we have embedded a few promotional images which may give away what’s going on in the Ryder White DLC, sadly we have not played Dead Island extensively, therefore we cannot spot anything of major significance – if you do, be sure to leave us a comment.

The comments over at Facebook suggest that people have either lost interest in Dead Island or sold it already, therefore people are suggesting that if Techland release a sequel they need to roll things out a lot quicker, let’s face it by the time February 1 arrives roughly 5 months will have past since the game first hit shelves – do you agree that DLC must be rolled out much sooner next time (if there is one)?

In previous news that we brought you concerning Techland, it was revealed the company had applied for the trademark for the title Dead World. Although no official statement was made, reports suggested that this is to be the title to a sequel to Dead Island. Further reports went on to claim that the title suggests the sequel would be set away from the Island of Banoi.

Some of the main issues the fix focuses on and introduces are improved network performance and stability in co-op, interface improvements and gameplay enhancements. It also features bonus content such as blueprints for weapon modifications as the official website states. The patch was released by the developer for the PS3 yesterday and is expected to roll out across the Xbox 360 consoles today.

The patch also brings general changes such as reward and quest implementations, other gameplay improvements such as players re-spawning with more health, lock-pick skill levels indications and Purna ammo capacity increase of 50% and interface improvements such as using medkits from the inventory healing better, a smarter re-spawn selection and players are no longer left unarmed after using a medkit. Although nothing official has been announced about a sequel, according to Siliconera the polish developer Techland has just applied for the trademark of the name Dead World. This not only suggests plans for a sequel but also gives us a clue as to what we can expect from the next game, with the title suggesting the flesh eating zombie outbreak may have spread to beyond the dead island, Banoi.

Dead Island has given Techland their best-selling game ever so a sequel will be no surprise. Whether or not Dead World turns out to be it remains to be seen but the evidence seems pretty conclusive to us. In the meantime Dead Island DLC, Bloodbath Arena will be made available this month as we previously explained to you in an earlier article. It will feature four new locations for players to roam as well as a new weapon.

We also previously brought you news that a Dead Island movie was in the works, with Lionsgate heading the development, having obtained the rights to making the game into a movie. A movie like this has great potential for a franchise so it was inevitably going to be produced by someone, Lionsgate seem the perfect candidate having previously brought us things like the Saw series.

You can see a complete breakdown of the many changes and improvements here, in our article we will tell you about what we regard as the most important changes / fixes.

Firstly if you ever had problems related to running the game on Steam in offline mode you will be glad to hear that this issue has been fixed, also if your game save was ever damaged the dev team has rectified this and will recover corrupted game saves when possible, another thing which you may have noticed is an issue encountered when trying to unlock “There and back again”, people would reach 72 out of 72 in the mission’s progress, but would not receive the achievement – again this has been resolved.

Other things which should notice post update include no-longer seeing zombies levitating once killed, less black screens and freezes (including when playing 4-player co-op), improved trading, fewer items disappearing, more storage for Jin, the option to disable voice chat in-game and the ability to access the quest menu using your Xbox controller – remember to check out the link in the second paragraph for the full list.

As and when we hear of a date where this update will hit Xbox Live / PSN we will keep you posted, for now we would love some feedback from you regarding Dead Island. Unfortunately nothing more specific has been revealed but at least the Dead Island following now have a period of time to look forward to as opposed to not knowing at all. Some of you will have already obtained it through pre-order exclusives but for those that haven’t it will be the first DLC to release for the game, the cost of which is still a mystery.

The news comes from the Dead Island Facebook page, where it was posted on the wall. The post read: ‘we have news for all who are waiting for the Bloodbath Arena DLC: It will be moved to mid-November.’ Reports suggest the delay was due to the developers, Techland, wanting to continue ironing out the bugs that the main game had been reported to have.

The Bloodbath Arena will feature four new locations for players to roam around in with up to three of their friends too. Together players will take on continuous hordes of zombies, much like in Call of Duty’s zombie maps, each wave getting progressively more challenging. The ‘Brain Wave Bomb’ is another new feature, it’s a new weapon and by the sounds of the name it’s capable of doing a lot of damage. In addition to this, all XP that is earned during the DLC gameplay can be carried over onto the main game which can be used to up player’s stats.

The movie is currently development stages and the Entertainment Company that has snapped up the rights for the game come movie is Lionsgate, the company behind hit horror classics like the Saw series and Hostel, as well as the gory action hit, Rambo. In a statement in their press release, the company said that the inspiration for the movie comes directly from the game’s debut trailer which was all CGI.

Lionsgate’s Joe Drake said they were ‘awestruck’ by the debut trailer, which ultimately led to them wanting to present the movie. He suggests that the company were attracted to its edgy genre and potential for franchise. Zombie movies have always provided good entertainment. Check out Digital Trends for a full press release.

Despite successful sales of the game, the reviews have been somewhat mixed. Many of them agree that the game isn’t very well made, but will definitely provide entertainment for a while at least. One review listed the games downfalls as the backgrounds being hard to distinguish and some of the controls but says features a large open world map, good weapon mods and deep leveling system. It also says that the game is more fun when it’s played with friends.

As recently noted in an article over on the gamasutra.com website, not only will zombies be invading PlayStation Home’s once peaceful Home Square, it will eventually look like the Royal Palms Resort on the tropical island of Banoi, complete with a gorgeous beach, a stunning view of the ocean, palm trees, and beautiful tropical vegetation.

That’s isn’t all either, as PlayStation Home visitors will also have access to a Dead Island themed mini-game. Not only will the mini-game test players’ abilities against hordes of attacking zombies, it will also test their skills in crafting items. Just like the Dead Island game’s co-op mode, the mini-game can be played with up to 4 players and in different play styles.

There will be a total of ten mini-game challenges in all, and those who complete all 10 challenges will be awarded with an exclusive in-game weapon called ‘Exploding Meat.’ However, if the mini-game challenges don’t really appeal to you, then there are other options. For example, you could try having your photo taken with a zombie.

You could even take part in a zombie survival survey in order to prove your knowledge of the undead, as well as earn free PlayStation Home rewards. At the end of the survey, participants will be rated on their estimated chance of survival in a real zombie attack. Certain items included in the PS3 version of Dead Island can only be obtained via the PlayStation Home event.

Every week players will have access to more levels and unlockable content, including the aforementioned ‘Exploding Meat.’ Those of you that pre-order the upcoming Dead Island game direct from Home Square will also receive a premium PlayStation Home reward, ‘Exploding Zombie Outfit.’ The game will be available to pre-order through a themed kiosk in Home Square.

According to Oly over on the ps3blog.net website, those who pre-order the Dead Island game – which is due to be released on September 6th in North America and September 9th in PAL regions – from Amazon will receive a digital art book that contains tons of game and concept art of everything from the beautiful environments to the characters and zombie types.

Although the Dead Island digital art book sounds pretty cool, it’s actually the recently announced Australian pre-order bonuses and retail exclusive Collector’s Editions that caught my attention. As Hangie over at esperino.com recently noted, GAME Australia, JB Hi-Fi and EB Games have all revealed their own individual Dead Island exclusives.

For example, EB Games’ Collector’s Edition comes with a copy of the Dead Island Game, the Bloodbath Arena DLC, Ripper Weapon DLC and a unique Turtle Beach headset. GAME Australia’s Pre-Order Pack on the other hand comes with its own unique cover art, the Bloodbath Arena DLC and a special AFTERGLOW controller that lights up when it’s switched on.

Meanwhile, JB Hi-Fi is offering a Collector’s Edition similar to that of EB Games. However, rather than having their Turtle Beach headsets specific to each platform (Ps3, Xbox 360 and PC) like the EB Games’ Dead Island Collector’s Edition, JB Hi-Fi is offering the Turtle Beach PX21 headset, which is compatible with all platforms.

The other difference is the fact that you won’t get the Ripper weapon DLC with JB Hi-Fi’s CE. As we mentioned earlier in the article, the game’s campaign length has also been revealed recently. According to Alex over at gamepur.com, Deep Silver’s Peter Brolly said that the average gamer should get around 25 to 30 hours of gameplay from the Dead Island game.

He also shed a bit more light on the Dead Island game’s map, stating that it would take gamers around 30 minutes to walk from one side of the map to other. Have you pre-ordered the Dead Island game yet?

As Raine Hutchens over on the gamerfront.net website recently reported, the newly released E3 2011 trailer – which places viewers in the shoes of a guy who really enjoys his partying – appears to be a bit more structured than the ones that we’ve seen previously.

After blacking out due to the amount of drink he’s consumed, the character wakes up in his hotel room to discover that the place is really quiet – too quiet in fact!! Much to his surprise, the island has been taken over by the undead and his vacation has now turned into a fight for survival.

As for the release date, the Dead Island game is due to arrive in North American stores on September 6th and in stores everywhere else on September 9th. The game will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. We have embedded the new trailer below this post.

As Jacob Siegal over on the gamerant.com website recently noted, those who decide to pre-order the Dead Island game will receive the special pre-order edition, which comes with the Bloodbath Arena DLC, a blueprint for a special weapon called the ‘Ripper,’ and exclusive cover art.

The Bloodbath Arena DLC comes with four different areas for both single player and multiplayer challenges. Similar to the Firefight mode in Halo or the Horde mode in Gears of War, Bloodbath Arena sees players facing endless waves of zombies, while they try to inflict as much damage as they can.

Bloodbath Arena also comes with a leaderboard so players can show off their zombie slaughtering skills. However, killing zombies should be made a little easier with the exclusive brain wave bomb weapon. Meanwhile, the ‘Ripper’ is said to be a destructive combination of a buzz saw and a baseball bat.

The Dead Island game is sue to arrive in stores on August 1st, and will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Will you be pre-ordering Dead Island?
