Fans of the LEGO themed games will be excited to hear that a sequel to the LEGO Batman game has been seemingly confirmed thanks to the artwork that features inside an instruction booklet that comes with the new range of LEGO Super Hero toys.

According to the report at MCV adverts for LEGO Batman 2 – Super Heroes appear in the featured booklet, listing the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS and Wii consoles as the platforms the new game is expected to appear on. The artwork that confirms the new game features other DC comic characters Wonder Woman and Superman, both of which are expected to get their own LEGO toy sets. The Joker, Lex Luther and Green Lantern are other DC characters that are also expected to get their own toy sets.

As MCV explains the new LEGO Super Hero range of toys, which includes characters from both DC Comics and Marvel Comics, is not due for official release until next year. The Marvel related toy sets are expected to arrive in time with the comic’s next movie The Avengers next summer and although there is no specific date for the Batman toy set arrival, it is reported to be arriving before the Marvel toy sets early next year.

Nothing official has been confirmed about the LEGO Batman 2 video game as of yet, despite it first being announced back in the summer by Warner Bros. Interactive. Speculation about the release date of the game suggests it may arrive with the release of the latest Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises, which is expected in July. When do you think LEGO Batman 2 will arrive? What did you think of the original LEGO Batman game?

Just when you thought Rocksteady Studios had already revealed all the characters that are set to appear in their eagerly awaited game Batman: Arkham City, another villain pops up out of the blue. This time it comes unofficially with a sense of controversy as reports are suggesting footage of the new character, the Mad Hatter, made its way online before the developers intended and was soon after taken down.

Luckily for us a certain website, NeoGAF, was on the ball and they were able to get a screenshot fresh from the clip of the mind meddling character. Up until now Rocksteady had been somewhat methodical in unveiling details about their sequel. The latest character revelation came from a glimpse of new achievement trophies that hinted at Nightwing, which was later confirmed.

We’ve brought various articles to our readers detailing the new characters as they appeared and even brought you news of the many Arkham City themed items which have made their way onto the Xbox Live Marketplace. Today’s revelation is an interesting one however, largely due to the fact that the developers have not yet made an official announcement of the character.

The Mad Hatter character himself is just as intriguing. He is the skilled research scientist, Jervis Tetch, who was obsessed with the Lewis Carroll creation from the popular story of Alice in Wonderland as a child and grew up thinking he was him. He uses hypnosis and mind control to manipulate his victims. We are very excited to see what kind of spin Rocksteady have put on their version of the character and how much of a role he will play in the game.

Check out the image below for a sneaky peek at Arkham City’s mentally deranged Mad Hatter himself. What do you think of this character? How much of a role do you think he will have in the game?

We have been bringing our readers various articles revealing the characters that are set to appear in the highly anticipated sequel, Batman: Arkham City. We now have news which confirms the addition of yet another character, Nightwing, this time however it is a playable one which will be available courtesy of a DLC.

Until now the confirmed playable characters were known to be Batman, obviously, Robin and Catwoman. Now, since ten new exclusive DLC trophies have surfaced online it has been indicated that Nightwing will also be available once the package has been downloaded. While Batman and Catwoman will be playable during normal campaign mode, reports are suggesting that like Robin, Nightwing will only feature in challenge maps.

The character Nightwing has appeared in various forms in DC Comics and is based on a Kryptonian mythical superhero from the Superman saga. The version that is to appear in Arkham City is the Dick Grayson one. Robin’s alter-ego is said to have become Nightwing after hearing the story of the Kryptonian and retiring from being Robin, to become his own superhero rather than a sidekick.

Two of the new trophies which have surfaced are; Obtain 78 medals on the original Arkham City and Nightwing Bundle Pack ranked maps (as Nightwing) and Obtain 114 medals on the original Arkham City and Nightwing Bundle Pack campaigns (as Nightwing). They can be found over at Gameranx.

We recently brought you news of a not so secret Arkham City Xbox 360 hardware bundle which is set to coincide with the release of the game on October 18th. As well as bringing you news of the first Arkham City review for the PS3 which saw the game receive a perfect score.

Are you looking forward to the games release? What do you think of the new playable character Nightwing?

Many of our readers will be getting very excited as the release of Batman: Arkham City gets ever closer. We have been providing lots information in the buildup to the game, including the characters revealed by Rocksteady Studios so far and the different skins available for both Batman and Robin. Today we bring you a preview of the series of comics that have been released which tell the story that fills the gap between Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

The series was first revealed back in April and now that the final issue has been released we are able to bring you details of the series as a whole. The story is split between five comics, all being handled by the acclaimed writer, Paul Dini, the man also responsible for both games. The first in the series was released in May and it picks up where the first game left off. It shows what happened to the Joker after his showdown with the Dark Knight and is set about a year later.

As Gamespot explains the newly appointed mayor of Gotham, Quincy Sharp is forced to take a new approach to containing residents of Arkham Asylum after struggling to recover from the events of a year ago. He decides letting them roam free throughout the city using the city walls as confinement is the best way to handle it, however maybe leaving Dr. Hugo Strange in charge of them wasn’t the smartest thing to do.

The Joker, who is to be the first inmate of this more chaotic asylum, finds himself once again with more power and things begin getting out of hand. Sharp sends out his army to try to regain peace while Batman finds himself battling with both the inmates and the army while trying to regain order. For more details check out the DC Comics website, where you will find a premise for each of the five episodes as well as some nice screens from the comic series.

Will you be getting the comic series to complete the story between the two games? Are you looking forward to Arkham City?

So far nothing but good things are being heard about the upcoming title from Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City, which means the company is definitely doing something right. The game is fast becoming one of the most hotly anticipated titles to launch this year and it is mainly due to the details, screenshots and trailers that have been released so far.

Today we have news of a new trailer from the next installment of the Batman saga, which reveals two more characters for the first time. The first of these characters revealed is one of Batman’s oldest arch enemies the Penguin. Born Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot the short, tubby supervillain is most well-known for his hi-tech umbrellas and his love for birds.

The trailer unveils the cockney ‘gentleman of crime’ monocle and all, as he unleashes one of his mobs onto Batman. Outnumbered the dark knight has to fight his way through to the Penguin. Limbs are broken and bodies are sent flying through the air but before he can get to the grotesque mobster, he is blown through the ground with a rocket launcher.

Batman finds himself in a dark chamber below where the other character is revealed to be none other than the zombie supervillain Solomon Grundy. The character had not previously been mentioned as far as I’m aware so, as the Penguin appropriately says in the trailer, this is a surprise. It may not be a pleasant one for Batman but I’m sure fans of the game are very excited.

For those who are not aware of the character, Solomon Grundy is a monstrous man whose name is based on the 19th century nursery rhyme. He is featured as a villain in many comics, not just the Batman selection. As you can see from the trailer, he is a rather large man and could prove hard to defeat when Batman finally battles him. Check out the trailer below to see all the action and the new characters for yourself.

Meanwhile according to Gamepur, two more characters have been announced by Rocksteady to feature in the game, though they have not actually been shown yet. The first is Talia al Ghul, a love interest of Batman’s and daughter of another of his oldest enemies, Ra’s al Ghul. The other character is yet another villain, Black Mask. It is not certain what role these two characters will play in the game, only that they will feature in it.

If you’re one of the many PlayStation 3 and PC gamers that have been waiting to hear about upcoming DLC for the recently released DC Universe Online game, we can now tell you that you’re in luck. Sony Online Entertainment has just revealed its DLC plans, which appear to include Catwoman.

According to a recent article by Mike Jackson over on the computerandvideogames.com website, Sony revealed that Catwoman will be heading to the subscription-based MMO game via downloadable content later this month, and will appear in both NPC and playable form.

One of Catwoman’s missions involves her stealing artifacts from the Gotham museum, with players then having to chase her over the rooftops of the city. Gamers will then be given the opportunity to take control of the villain, as she battles it out in PvP matches within the Legends Mode.

As Scott Grill from examiner.com recently reported, the DLC will also bring a mix of seasonal-themed content including the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite. Another upcoming addition will be an eight-player raid for the Batcave, which will allow players to fight alongside Batman.

You can read more about the upcoming DLC via the examiner.com website. Are you looking forward to the addition of Catwoman?

We have been keeping you up to date with developments of the new Batman title, Arkham City. So far we have brought you some gameplay and screenshots as well as a new teaser trailer. The more I hear about this game, the more it appeals to me.

From looking at some of the trailers it is shaping up to be very good and when we heard there was going to be a new evil force introduced we kept our ears to the ground to find out who the surprise package was going to be.

If you haven’t heard already it is a villain called Hugo Strange aka Dr.Strange. The video can be viewed over at Eurogamer.com and it sees how Batman finds out who his previously unannounced adversary is. There is a team tracking him only he already knows it, he attacks them and grabs one of the guys. Next thing you see is Batman holding him off the edge of a building being interrogated, Punisher style.

The baddie gives in and tells Batman who sent him and this is where we all find out the villains name, Hugo Strange. If you want to keep up with the announcements then you can join their Facebook page by clicking here and then hitting the “Like” button.

You can also visit the official website here, a cool website for what looks like a potential game of the year. What do you think of Arkham City so far? Looks pretty good doesn’t it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
