With just a few days to go until the start of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, we are very excited about the prospect of the MTM Audi R8 BiTurbo and the Audi TT RS. If you thought the standard versions of these cars were good, then you wait until you see what the German tuning company has done with them. We are lost for words; all we can say is awesome.

According to the press release, which was sent to Autoblog, the R8 BiTurbo has lost all of its paint, and then been highly polished; a process that took more than 700 hours to do – now that’s commitment. However, looking at the images of this thing we have to say that it was well worth the effort.

MTM were not happy with the already insanely fast R8, so thought that twin-turbochargers were needed. The coupe is now tuned to produce 777 horsepower, which is enough to propel the MTM Audi R8 to 217mph. This is not fast when you look at the Veyron, but at a fraction of the price it truly is an amazing achievement.

If you want something a little less in your face, then the Audi TT RS from MTM is another coupe to consider. This one still has all its paint and offers a 472hp engine. This car, which will be on show in just a few days will reach speeds of 195mph – would you have ever thought that an Audi TT would ever hit just under 200mph?

April 2010 was when we got our first images of the Mini Coupe, and only now have we started to see the upcoming 2012 model on our streets. The new vehicle has been seen out and about near the BMW factory in Germany, and as with most new cars like this had a strange camouflage to hide some of the new features.

However, that did not stop Autoblog spies from seeing what new goodies the 2012 Mini Coupe will have. The one that got out interest the most has to be that retractable spoiler, this is not a new concept, as other cars have been using such a system for years; but it is new to the Mini. Damon Lavrinc added that this was not seen in the concept design way back in 2009.

The engine is expected to be a 1.6-liter turbocharged unit, but we have no details as to how much power it will produce. There seems to be little chance of an appearance at Geneva, but we do expect to see it at Frankfurt later this year. Sales should begin later this year for both US and Europe, but we have yet to learn its price.

There are rumors that the smaller Mini will be on show at Geneva next month, but Cars Guide does not expect to see the vehicle enter production until 2013 at least. This is certainly a long time to wait, and by then we should have a good idea of what the new BMW Mini design will be, as the current model is now starting to show its age.

Most Popular Coupes For 2011: What Will You Buy?

When it comes to Coupes there are five categories that people usually study, these are under $20,000, under $30,000, under $40,000, under $60,000 and over $60,000. When you think of this range of vehicles you often look to the lower-end of that price scale, such as the BMW Mini, but I would much prefer the Audi A5 – I can only but dream. So what Coupe will you be looking to purchase in 2011?

This is a very tough question, one that could spark a huge debate but Edmunds has taken a look at some of the best from each of the price ranges, although not certain if I agree with some of them. Under $20,000 is a very popular price bracket, especially as things are still a little tight when it comes to spending a huge sum of money on a vehicle. Three of the most popular in this range is the Mini Cooper, VW Golf and the Kia Forte Koup; try to guess what one is the most popular of the three?

Things start to heat up in the under $30,000 price bracket, the 2011 Ford Mustang is a great seller, but it will come under huge pressure from the 2012 Dodge Challenger very soon, which looks to have a few old school design features.

Coupes for under $40,000 will see a close battle this year, as you will have the likes of the Audi A5, BMW Series 3 and the Infiniti G37 all competing with each other.

However, some drivers might look at what their cars will achieve per gallon, as the U.S. has now started to become conscious of this due to the increased gas prices. Newcars.com is here to help you decide which vehicle gives you the best return for your money at the pumps. The website offers you details on the size of the fuel tank, how much it costs to fill up and how much the annual cost will be based on 15,000 miles per year – 55 percent city and 45 percent highway driving.

What 2011 Coupe will you purchase?

Back in December we offered you news as well as a teaser video for the 2012 Hyundai Veloster ahead of the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. The new vehicle is said to be a utility coupé, and we can see from the overhead shots on the Independent that it will come with a Panaramic roof – ideal, as it will give the illusion of more space.

However, that is not the feature that will stand out the most; those of you attending the show will notice that there are two doors on the passenger side as normal but just one on the driver’s side. Susan Carpenter from LA Times suggests that the price for the Veloster will be around $17,000-to-$18,000 – so let’s not expect too much on the spec front then.

It is said that the latest Hyundai coupe is targeted at twentysomethings – so that price kind of makes sense now. As you would expect the car is front-wheel drive, but will have a dual-clutch system, which is said to help increase fuel-efficiency and acceleration compared to a standard automatic transmission.

There is no release date details as yet, but most rumors suggest that it will be sometime in the spring. The Hyundai Veloster has been in the planning stage for a few years now, as we first learned of the upcoming model back in July 2009. We have to wonder if it has been worth the wait?
