New car sales will always be hit hard because it’s a huge expense and the public would rather a more stable economy before they even consider a new vehicle. As you would expect there have been some great cars on show in the Windy City and because we are a few months off from the hot season it seems fitting to view 3 of the 26 new convertibles, which we feel are the best from the show.

Depending on budget and taste the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible has to be the best of the three because with the top down you will be able to hear those 650 horses of pure power, which is almost 100 horsepower more than the Camaro ZL1. All that power comes from the 5.8-liter V8 engine and has a supercharger thrown in for good measure, which ensures a smooth pickup in power when compared to a turbo.

Most convertibles add a little extra weight for more strength to the frame becasue it does not have a roof to make the car stiffer, thankfully there is a huge set of Brembo brakes and Bilstein shocks to handle the extra power from that engine all of which is channeled through an improved 6-speed manual transmission.

Next up we have the 2013 Chevrolet 427 Corvette 60th Anniversary Package, which we have to say looks awesome on its own but lacks the aggressive feel when parked next to the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible. The 427 doesn’t have as much power as its rival but there’s still 505 hp on call for when you need it, all of which comes from a huge 7.0-liter V-8 LS7 engine but it’s those extra features that make this model very special.

The rear spoiler has been changed for this special edition, there is also gray brake calipers, limited edition wheel center caps and a diamond white leather for the interior. To us it doesn’t matter if the 2013 Chevrolet 427 Corvette 60th Anniversary Package has less power because it all becomes irrelevant once you reach a certain speed and your ears struggle to cope with the wind from not having a roof.

For those who would rather have a more practical drop top then maybe the 2012 Mazda Miata Special Edition is more for you, it’s not only much tamer but the price is more realistic as well. There is to be just 450 of these vehicles with a smaller 2.0-liter 167hp engine but what this lacks in power more than makes up for in handling and fun factor, which are two of the most important features of a car like this. Some of the main features are Bilstein shocks, sports suspension, LSD and a choice of two superb paint finishes. For more details on all three cars view the videos that we have embedded for you below.

Convertibles 2011: List of New Models http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/07/convertibles-2011-list-of-new-models/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/07/convertibles-2011-list-of-new-models/#comments Thu, 07 Apr 2011 10:27:24 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=127610 If you have a bit of cash to spend and are really considering buying a new convertible in 2011, you’ll want to take a look at this very useful alphabetical list that we have picked out which lists all the newest convertibles for 2011, and how much you’ll have to pay for each one.

As most things in life, added style and luxury often comes with a premium price tag that is likely to blow a hole in your wallet. This also applies to buying a new convertible, so be prepared to spend up to $300,000 for some of the higher brand motors, although some convertibles on the list can be yours for around $40-50,000.

One such model is the 2011 Audi TT, which is available to buy for around $40,800. It may be considered an old model since it’s been around for a long time now, but there’s no doubting that it still looks as stylish as ever, especially the black model.

Top of the spectrum, you’ll find models such as the super slick 2011 Aston Martin DB9 which will cost you up to $205,000 to buy one new. It does feature a 5.9L 470hp engine though and you can look forward to luxurious features such as a Bang & Olufsen audio system which has been designed exclusively for the DB9.

You can view a full list of 2011 Convertibles over at Motor Trend. Which model do you have your eye on this year?

Chrysler 200 Convertible: Sebring Improvement http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/01/20/chrysler-200-convertible-sebring-improvement/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/01/20/chrysler-200-convertible-sebring-improvement/#comments Thu, 20 Jan 2011 10:51:40 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=119365 When it comes to rental cars, one of the less popular models was the Chrysler Sebring, but the auto company is hoping to change all that with its new 200 Convertible. Just looking over at the spec features and looks, it is hard to understand why this could not happen.

A number of photos were leaked a few days ago ahead of the official unveiling, which you can tell by a recent article on Autoblog – the photographer of the new car was not happy. He has directed his anger at Chrysler – well just one worker really – saying that five weeks work has now been wasted.

That aside, the Chrysler 200 Convertible certainly has much better styling than the Sebring, but it’s not all about looks. According to Consumer Reports, the automaker has now decided to make a change to the engine lineup, by including the new 3.6-liter V6 engine, which produces 283BHP. There is to also be a smaller more economical 2.4-liter engine, which only pushes out 173BHP.

The new 200 is still a large convertible, which is why rental cars tend to have them, but as the Sebring lacked the fun-factor, as well as looks and performance it was always going to be left sitting there in the rental car park all on their own. Do you think that the 200 is an improvement on the Sebring?

2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet: Unconventional CUV http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/16/2011-nissan-murano-crosscabriolet-unconventional-cuv/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/16/2011-nissan-murano-crosscabriolet-unconventional-cuv/#comments Tue, 16 Nov 2010 10:20:57 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=114176 When you think convertible you think sexy sporty cars, so we were surprised when we saw images of the new 2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. I do not know what to make of this unconventional CUV, but what I do know is, it will be at the 2010 LA Auto Show.

I am not sure, but this has to be the first car of its kind, and you will certainly get to see more on the open road once the roof is down. According to Nissan it has enough room in the trunk to hold a golf bag, even with the roof down. This is something that we do not expect from a convertible, as trunk space is always limited.

The Murano CrossCabriolet is not shy in the engine department with its 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which produces 260hp. Nissan has yet to offer any other details, such as price, performance details and specs, but we are certain that they will share more during the 2010 LA Auto Show.

However, we do know that Nissan will start to produce the SUV soon, so we can expect to see these strange looking vehicles on our streets some time in 2011. For more details visit Cnet.
