The iFlex: flexible phone concept looks like another great idea expected in the future with flexible displays, which allow users to bend the device and use it in many angles. The flexible touchscreen has a magnetic lock for the closed position that’s surrounded by a nylon frame, similar to that found in laptops and tablets, giving us many ideas on how this can be used.

This could see the arrival of flexi apps exclusive to this device, and many usage ideas have come from this, with examples highlighting a digital makeup tool, and a bent-over placeholder for conference speakers with certain information displayed on both sides. Christian de Poorter and his design studios are working to evolve this new technology already gathering success from designing technologically advanced products, although the iFlex is a concept, which may not even come to fruition.

By looking at images of the iFlex there are many great uses and one shows the concept phone partially bent, which would allow the phone to stand up aidless for a landscape view that is easy to watch, provided your at the same height, whereas the portrait view is visually better from various angles. Bending it backwards as an alarm clock is also ideal, and turning off the alarm is easy to do with a touch of your hand on the top.

Having a flexible device in your pocket could make your phone more comfortable in transit, although we are unsure whether the back pocket would be ideal. The de Poorter Design Studio aims to use technology to enhance usability and more details on this can be seen on their site through this link. However, do you think the flexible display concept is the next decent step in mobile phone technology?

Take yourself back to the 80’s when you saw Luke Skywalker riding on one of those hoverbikes, now would you believe us if we told you that there is an actual working prototype? Well, it seems as though two inventors have one of their own, although they class it as a kind of mini helicopter.

We have learned that the hoverbike has a speed of 175MPH, but only has a range of 92 miles due to fuel consumption and a small tank. However, the working concept is said to be able to fly as high as 10,000 feet – now that is like a helicopter. Cannot remember the young Jedi Knight going that high can you?

PCMag reports that the hoverbike could be used for a number of important purposes, such as firefighting, search and rescue or even getting those all important shots while making a movie. The engine powering the prototype is an 1100cc four-stroke with 16-valves.

Looking over some of the details we can see that it has been achieving 21.8 miles to the gallon and runs on regular unleaded. Not much else is known at the moment, but we do know that the Australian inventors are looking for a $1.1 million Australian donation. So far they have only achieved $69,125 Australian – maybe they need to head to the UK and appear on Dragon’s Den.

When it comes to vehicles of the future we’ve got two types of categories in our opinion, forthcoming cars and trucks that may release within the next year or two, and then there is concept vehicles that might not release.

The latest auto news can always be found on PR, which is seen in our auto section here, but we also want to point you towards two websites that really do give you the best upcoming cars. These are Motor Trend and Future Cars.

Futurecars.com is a site that has a small following at the time of writing, but we love the topics they have narrowed the news into. These range from flying cars to fuel cell, and electric to hybrid cars. Some of the latest concepts include the GT3 Concept Coupe, Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 Limited Edition, and the impressive Morgan LIFECar2. You can visit their homepage here; let us know what you think.

Motor Trend is a much bigger and more professional website that focuses on a lot more than just concept cars, they also help you find new and used cars. You can see their dedicated “Future Cars” section here, which has some cool vehicles featured. We love the Mini Rocketman Concept, which is perfect for any hardcore Mini fans.

The Toyota FT-86 II Concept shows that Toyota has found its passion again, and the automaker hopes to bring a similar vehicle to market in 2012.

Where do you get your daily fix for vehicles of the future?

BMW seems to be relentless in the amount of effort that are puting into their popular Mini brand, such as the Countryman, 2010 Coupe, Cooper SD Diesel and a Plug-in Hybrid version. So you can imagine how amazed we were when we learned of the Mini Rocketman Concept, which BMW see as the future of automotive design.

This concept is unlike any other Mini on or coming to the market, and looking at the image gallery over at Autoblog you will see just what we mean. The design is very different to what we are used to, but the “unique three-plus-one interior seating arrangement” is the one that has us baffled the most. No matter how many times we look at this, there just seems to be no practical reason.

As with all future cars its all about lightweight and strength, so the carbon spaceframe is no real shocker. With this in mind the benefits will include fuel-efficiency, so is expected to achieve about 78 mpg US – just wish we could know more about what type of engine/electric motor will drive the vehicle.

For years the Mini refresh has held on to the basic design, it was not until the Clubman and Countryman that things started to change for the better, and the Rocketman takes this one step further – well ten steps really.

Drive believes that we should call this new model the Mini Mini and could come with a turbo diesel engine. This is said to be their smallest model since 1969. Below you will be able to see a video of the Rocketman Concept – what’s your verdict?

Are you one for all things weird? Mix that with a love for cars, then your going to love the article we found on the most bizarre driving laws, and a video showing the top 10 bizarre concept cars.

It’s true to say that laws should be followed, but not set in stone, and should be changed if old, out-of-date, or just bizarre. Those of you in the United States that enjoy cross-country vacations should take a look at this article on dmv.org.

It shows the most bizarre driving laws, which are broken down by state. Be warned, some of these are just out right weird. Have a read and let us know which you find the most bizarre driving law.

MSN have featured a video today, and it shows the ten most bizarre concept cars. These include the Nissan Landglider, Aptera 2E, Toyota FT-EVII, Mazda TalkI, Nissan Pivo 2, and five more.

You can watch the video here. Again, let us know your thoughts on these concept cars.
