The original and current MINI has an iconic design that transcends generations, and so it’s no surprise when we see other cars trying to borrow a few design features and incorporating it into their own models. This is just what seems to have happened with the 2013 Toyota Me.We concept.

If you have ever wondered what a Polypropylene MINI exterior would look like, then you are staring at it right now. While you can clearly see it is a different car, we can’t help feel the Me.We concept is trying to gain some attention from fans of the best selling small vehicle.

Putting all that aside, what we love about this Toyota concept vehicle is how it caters for people with varied budgets, while being kind to the planet at the same time. Another thing the Me.We has to offer is customization because you can choose from various body styles, as well as interiors, and not just by color.

The panels are said to be removable, and the concept can be transformed into a pickup truck or even an off-road vehicle. And because the exterior panels are made from Polypropylene as well as being removable, the vehicle would be easy to keep clean.

Keeping with the green aspect, the 2013 Toyota Me.We concept is an EV and because it weighs just 1,600 pounds, there shouldn’t be any problems with getting around, as the car is rather light.

Personally, we think this is a silly design, as the bamboo interior and those panels may not last as long as the materials used in a traditional vehicle. We also have an issue with the looks, because while it’s clear the Me.We is a little like the MINI, it also looks like something Dr. Frankenstein would have come up with in his laboratory.

Thanks to Toyota.

With the Shanghai Auto Show 2013 press day over for another year there is still plenty of time for the public to head to the show just to see what was on offer. This isn’t the biggest or best venue to head to if you are looking for some awe-inspiring vehicles, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t a few gems.

Today we thought we would take a little look at what we thought were the best Shanghai Auto Show 2013 concept cars, and there were plenty to choose from.

Firstly, we have the BMW X4 concept, and although we have already seen many of the details shared with us, such as the exterior, we now have a greater insight, as well as limited BMW X4 specs as well. We don’t expect to see this concept vehicle go into production until 2014 at least. More details thanks to BMW.

The Alpine A110-50 Concept has been known for a year now, but we finally got to see the awesome looking car in person at Shanghai. The A110 was first introduced in 1961, so it seems fitting that Renault should bring this vehicle back from the history books where it has resided for many years. Some of the A110-50 Concept specs include a 3.5 liter V6 engine, which is to produce 400 horsepower. Visit Renault for more information.

Finally, there was the Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept, which further improves on the big design change many Mercedes vehicles recently underwent. The GLA interior seems to be something from a Sci-Fi novel and while we expect many of these features to be lost when the vehicle eventually makes it to production, some of the more interesting ones are likely to stay, the question is, which ones?

However, we do hope the design of the exterior stays, as well as the impressive four-cylinder 2.0 liter engine, which is expected to produce around 208 horsepower. Visit Daimler for more details.

These are just three of what we believe to be the best concept cars from the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, but what would you have chosen?

With the doors for the Geneva Motor Show 2013 not opening to the public for another few days, the media will get to see what car manufactures have in store tomorrow. There are several models that we are looking forward to, such as the McLaren P1 and the new Ferrari. However, we also love to see what concept cars will thrill us at the show this year, although we have already seen these being teased.

Picking the best of these concept cars ready to make their debut at any auto show is always tough, and Geneva is no different. However, we feel we have found a handful of cars that we know you will love and wait in anticipation to see what all the fuss is about. What we mean by this is viewing the proposed spec details, along with several images to see just what certain car manufacturers have planned – if they ever make it to production that is.

First up we have the Toyota FT-86 Open concept, which will see its debut tomorrow. As always such a concept is being shown to gauge a reaction to see how well received this car will be. To help you decide you need to view the video we have embedded for you below.

Next up we have the Spyker B6 Venator concept, which you can see a teaser render of here. If we are to believe the rumors then we should expect this sporty little number to pack a V6 engine capable of producing 375 horsepower. We are also told that the B6 Venator will be very similar in size to the Porsche Boxster.

The Kia Provo concept has been made official in a preview showing ahead of the media day at Geneva tomorrow. This is a strange yet exciting vehicle because it is a hatchback that has a muscular coupe style, and it’s clear to see that this model will be all about the fun. Autoblog currently has limited details on the Kia Provo.

The most exciting concept vehicle for us ahead of the show has to be the Pininfarina Sergio because ofhow it will give us an insight into the direction the design house plan to go in. The image seen here is all we know at the moment, but it feels us full of excitement. These are just a selection of the concept vehicles heading to Geneva, but there are far more to look forward to.

What vehicle are you most looking forward to seeing unveiled tomorrow?

While there are several auto shows ahead of the one being held in Geneva, we can’t help mention a new concept that will make its debut during the Geneva Auto Show next month. The vehicle in question is the Vauxhall Adam Rocks, which is a concept CUV that will be ready to take on the MINI Countryman.

Just by looking at the drawing above thanks to a recent press release, you’ll see that the Adam Rocks, or Opel for the European version has taken some inspiration from the Fiat 500C with its semi convertible roof. This new version of the concept vehicle is different because it has a 15mm higher ground clearance, and although it isn’t much, it’s enough to fulfill a purpose.

We’ve never bought into the crossover market because it’s a little like the Microsoft Surface Pro, it doesn’t know what it wants to be. To us a crossover vehicle with plastic cladding stuck to the sides and the front and rear bumpers just cheapens the standard version.

That’s not saying that there isn’t a market for these vehicles, it’s just we cannot see the point; either you want an SUV for going on and off road, or you want a saloon, sedan etc. What’s the point of a CUV when the ground clearance isn’t that great and would take no time to become bogged down?

Anyway the Vauxhall/Opel Adam Rocks CUV will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a month’s time, but don’t expect the vehicle to enter production anytime soon.

The 2013 Detroit Auto Show is well underway and while we love to see what new vehicles will make their debut at the event, such as these ones, what we look forward to most are those desired concept cars. As in previous years these cars that are still in the conception process are always a big hit with the media and public alike, and this year is no different.

Choosing what we believe to be the most desired concept cars at 2013 Detroit Auto Show this year is a pretty daunting task because a majority of them do fall into that category. However, we believe we have come up with the definitive choice, just hope you are all in agreement, if not then feel free to share your thoughts below.

First on out list has to be the Lincoln MKC Concept because we just love what Ford has done with trying to bring the Lincoln brand back from obscurity. They have done a pretty decent job up until now with the MKZ, but looking at the MKC it could take the Lincoln brand to the next level. You’ll see from the first video below that Ford is taking advantage of the crossover market with a car that is based on the Escape.

Next is the Hyundai HCD-14 Genesis Concept, which gives us an insight in what Hyundai believes the sedan will look like in the future. Many of the elements of this car will feature in their upcoming sedan, but we cannot wait to see a version of this vehicle as seen in the second video below.

Our final choice is the 2013 Corolla Furia Concept because it shows that Toyota has learned from the past and now knows that they have to be less conservative. This model could actually be the next Corolla, although because many of the features have been overstyled we do expect Toyota to tone it down just a little. But not too much we hope.

These are our top three most desired concept cars at 2013 Detroit Auto Show, but what are yours?

Cars of the future are often associated with weird and wonderful designs that have no chance of making it to production – maybe because the technology is not plausible or the design is just not practical enough? So what about the ones that we do know will make it to market, in this article we will take a look at what we believe to be five of the best future cars.

The 2014 Porsche 550 is the first, and it has does not have the potential to become a vintage car like these models on our recent list. The 550 will not look like something from the 50’s or 60’s, so we have to wonder why it shares its name with a car from 1953. Now we are uncertain what the car itself will look like, but one expects it to make driving a Porsche even more affordable.

The German automaker is not afraid to do what Ferrari will not, and that is use a small 1.6-liter engine. The car will still be able to achieve 200 horsepower and will come in at a respectably €40,000 – you heard right. More details on this can be found over at Motorward.

The 2011 Scion FR-S Concept is the second on our list, but do not be put off by its concept status, as there is a very good chance that Toyota will be making this model. There are a few reasons for this; the first is that they have been showing a video of the engine being used in the FR-S, the next is that testing is now said to be underway, and the third is that you can see a video of this car below on a test drive.

Third up is the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider. I could not offer what I believe to be the best future car list without putting a McLaren in there, as I am a great fan of the Woking based company. Teamspeed reports that this car was first rumored back in 2009, as McLaren knew that they needed a retractable hard top version of the popular standard model. Not much should change performance wise with its 3.8-liter V-8 engine, which can produce 592HP.

Our fourth car that needs to be on this list has to be the 2013 Jaguar XE. How can you not look to the future and not see a Jag there? There were a few rumors that this roadster was to be dropped, but you will be pleased to know that production is still on track. The one issue that we have with this car is the fact that a soft top has replaced the rumored hard top. However, you can clearly see from these spy shots from Inside Line that it still has that special something.

The final car for the near future has to be the 2012 e-Wolf Alpha-2. This is one of those cars that you think will never make it to production, but when it does there will be a few tweaks here and there. Images have recently been released, and we are so excited, as the car still looks awesome. What makes this car so different is that it is powered by electric and will produce 374 horsepower. Jalopnik tells us that the Alpha-2 will go from 0-60mph in around four seconds and will hit a top speed of 143MPH – that will give Tesla Motors something to think about.

There you have it, three of our favorite future cars. What models are you looking forward to the most?

Over the years we have seen cars made of strange stuff, but we have to wonder what has been the weirdest? Some of the cars made from alternative materials have still been able to function in the normal way; but they are not the interesting ones. What we like are those made from hemps, Play-Doh etc, the more outrageous the better.

The first car that we have for you is the Chevrolet Orlando that was made from Play-Doh. As you would imagine this was not a working model, and was crafted as part of a publicity stunt. It was blue in color and measured 4.6 meters long and weighed the same as the real Orlando model, which is 1.5-tonne.

Next up we have the BamGoo, which has been made from bamboo. What makes this one strange yet special is the fact that it has an electric vehicle. Now we know how cheap this car will be to run, but not certain about the safety features and how much of the body will be lost on a windy day?

Back in 1941 Henry Ford designed a car that was made from of resin-stiffened hemp fiber. Now this might have seemed strange back then, but when you look at some of the supercars of today, they are also made out of fibers. We all assumed that Ford had lost it, but we all know how strong cars are when made from fibers.

These are just a selection of some of the cars made from strange stuff, what more do you have to offer?

Early today Daniel discussed the 2012 Jaguar XF; this got us thinking and thought we would see what other 2012 concept cars there are. This future vehicle forecast looks at the vehicles that were shown some time back as a concept and will finally make it to production as a 2012 model.

Motor Trend understands just how hot Ford is at the moment with their hatchback vehicle, the 2012 Ford Focus ST Track. The standard model is already in showrooms, but those wanting a little more will have to wait a little while longer for this sportier/faster version.

Next up we have the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept, which makes the current A-Class look like a classic model. As you will notice, the styling has taken a more aggressive stance, and shows that they are still able to compete with the likes of Audi when it comes to style.

For those looking for a bit of muscle, then the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette C7 could be just what the doctor ordered. Not much is known about this vehicle, but we do know that the American car maker will have to do whatever it takes to make it stand out in a crowd – which is certainly a tall order.

These are just three 2012 concept vehicles, which of the three do you prefer, or is there another model we have not mentioned?

When it comes to 2012 concept cars we can look at them in two ways, those that are shown this year with no real release in mind, and those that were shown as concept cars in the past and are now about to appear in 2012.

You may remember the Detroit Auto Show in 2007, and more specifically the Jaguar C-XF concept that wowed the crowd. It now looks like we’ll see this car as a 2012 production vehicle, in the name of the 2012 Jaguar XF.

Jaguar is going back to the future by tweaking the XK for 2012. The XJ had a revamp for 2010, which saw improved engine performance more like the concept car in 2007, and now we’ve the promise of improved looks for 2012.

The improvement was said to be “more like the C-XF” concept, according to the chief designer of the XF, Wayne Burgess. He also added that the technology has caught up in 2012, which is expected to deliver on the features of the 2007 concept.

Take a look at some more photos and insight into the 2012 Jaguar on Auto Blog, which shows the Jaguar C-XF concept and other cars.
With the 2012 Jaguar able to mimic features of the C-XF concept thanks to improved production technology, will you be buying?
