Recently whilst attending Computex 2011 Engadget came across an upcoming Gigabyte motherboard which demanded their attention, this is because it features an integrated solid-state drive.

This motherboard is called the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-iSSD (yes, iSSD stands for integrated-SSD), it features an Intel 20GB SLC SSD thanks to its mSATA slot, this means that people will be able to install their preferred operating system without having to purchase a separate storage device, neat eh?

Other specs can be checked out via this image, to summarize the LGA1155 CPU socket supports second-gen Intel Core processors and the four DDR3 RAM slots allow for up to 32GB of memory. Most of the other slots / ports are what you would expect from a motherboard of this calibre, yes, that does mean there is both USB 3.0 and SATA 3 ports.

If you do not want the integrated SSD you can buy the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3, this features the mSATA slot, however it is empty. You can see a full gallery of images and find out more about this impressive motherboard over at Engadget, currently we have no idea of pricing or a release date, therefore we will have to keep you posted.

Do you think other motherboard manufacturers will copy this idea? Do you have any concerns? Let us know in the comments section below.

A lot of the technology we see in products being manufactured these days was once just an idea and the sort of thing you would only expect to see in movies. Though some things still remain fictional like flying cars, we do still get the odd piece of sci-fi brought to reality.

Take today’s news of the ultrasonic pen and the zero-lag shutter which were both spotted at Computex in the Qualcomm booth. From the names these technologies are being referred to as it’s obvious what each of them are capable of.

The zero shutter lag designed by Scalado for phones allows users to take a photo with one click of a button whilst instantaneously capturing two frames prior, a frame during and two frames after the click. This means the process of taking photos is sped up as the camera continues to take images which are used to create a composite shot.

The ultrasonic pen is a very different piece of technology though equally as impressive. It allows users to capture the writing they produce with the pen on a nearby phone using an ultrasonic transducer which is attached to the pen and a phone with three microphones. The signal is triangulated on the collaborated handset which must be within 30cm.

Check out the article at Engadget for more details about the gadgets where you will also find a video. Are you impressed by these pieces of technology?

As new notebooks and laptops get released it seems e thinner the design the more popular a device it is. The MacBook Air is one of the most popular computers in the market and is extremely thin. Today we have news of another very thin netbook which could come with a competitive price tag, just $600.

The Intel Canoe Lake reference design was first spotted at Computex 2010, yet is still hasn’t managed to get a release. The netbook has appeared again at this year’s Computex and the design is equally as impressive second time round.

It also looks like this time around the device will actually be built and released to customers. A company called Malata will be the ones to sell to sell the design, though a date of when it will happen has not been mentioned.

The netbook comes with 1GB or 2GB RAM, has a Cedar View processor and a 10.1” screen. Other features such as microphone out and headphone port, SD card slot and USB 2.0 are also included. The 15-18mm thick machine will also run Windows 7.

Check out JKKMobile where you can see a video of the computer in action. Are you impressed with the tiny device?

As you may or may not be aware Computex 2011 is underway in Taiwan at the moment and various devices from different manufacturers are being showcased. We have been doing our best to provide coverage of the event as it happens.

Today we have news of the HP TouchPad, which was spotted at the event in the SanDisk booth. It is thought that the company is in partnership with HP and will be providing the storage hardware for the tablet. We previously brought you news of a claim by HP that their TouchPad will be the market leader.

Of course in order to claim that title it has to out sell its rivals one of which is the mighty Apple with their iPad 2. So has it got what it takes? Judging from the video which is provided in the article at GadgetsMagazine it’s certainly an impressive piece of kit.

It is polished looking and has easily accessed apps which rotate like a wheel. Another interesting feature is the response time of the tablets. Touch the app you want and it appears full screen instantly, turn your device from portrait to landscape and it reacts straight away.

Check out the video for yourself by clicking the link above. Will you be getting the TouchPad?

In recent news ASUS has been getting some attention by flaunting their new AIO touchscreen PC the ET2700, a computer that they hope will have similar success to the iMac from Apple. Today we have new of a new ultraslim notebook that the company is teasing, one which according to them is an Eee PC ‘with a twist.’

This surprise notebook will feature among their latest line of Eee PCs that are expected to be showcased at Computex. In the build up to the event the company has released a few images of the computer including a concept of what it could look like and a silhouette, which doesn’t give much away other than its super slim physique.

The news comes from the article at Notebook Italia which also says nothing has been given away as far as specs are concerned, just simply to wait and see if they get any further updates. This means we may actually have to wait until Computex before the surprise is revealed.

The event begins at the end of the month in Taipei, May 30th to be exact so at least the wait is almost a week maximum. If you would like to check out the article at Notebook Italia click the link above where they have provided the images ASUS have released so far.

Has the company got you curious or are their products unappealing to you?

Nearly all of you would have heard of Intel by now, the company has been in the computer market for a long time, dominating in the processor department of the market. Despite the dominance in this market, the company has struggled to make an impact in the mobile phone and tablet market.

Their main problem has been producing a chip capable of providing the power that we are used to with Intel while maintaining little battery usage. The news we have today suggests that Intel are at the moment working on a chip good enough and will be debuting their new Intel powered tablets at Computex this month.

The news comes from an article at the Wall Street Journal, which explains how Intel intend on using their Oak Trail processor designed for tablets to compete with their main rival ARM. However analysts believe they have a struggle on their hands due to a lack of contacts in the industry.

There have been rumors suggesting a possible link up with Microsoft which would be a big step in the right direction when entering the market. You can check out the full article from WSJ by clicking the link above.

Are you looking forward to an Intel powered tablet? Would you consider buying one? Let us know in the comments below.
