Capcom are certainly risking the wrath of their huge worldwide fanbase by continuing to ignore popular characters such as Megaman, Ken, Venom, Daredevil and Gambit by leaving them out of the growing Marvel Vs Capcom 3 roster. Instead, UMVC3 will feature 12 characters, some of which we’re willing to bet you have never heard of in your life.

On the Capcom side, players will get Strider, Firebrand, Vergil, Frank West, Phoenix Wright and Nemesis, while the pretty disappointing additions for Marvel are Ghost Rider, Dr Strange, Nova, Rocket Raccoon, Hawkeye and Iron Fist. We’ll give you a moment to take a deep breath and suck it all in, or head to Wikipedia and find out exactly who an earth ‘Rocket Raccoon’ is. Why Capcom is leaving out fan favorites is beyond us, unless it is part of their infamous business strategy to include it as extra paid DLC after Ultimate Vs Capcom 3 releases.

The game will be out in November, but no solid release date on PS3 or Xbox 360 yet. We guessing that a lot of you are disappointed and frustrated over the new list of characters, especially since Capcom are charging $40 for the refreshed lineup. We told you earlier on this week that NetherRealm Studios were putting Activision and Capcom to shame with regards to free DLC releases for Mortal Kombat, and we’re afraid to say that nothing has changed with the release of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

Capcom had a really good shot of changing gamer’s perceptions about the company, but the fact that they are leaving out characters like Megaman suggests to us that they are doing the opposite to what the fans want. Having said that, a lot of you will argue that $40 is still very good value for 12 brand new characters added to the mix, so perhaps we are being a little harsh on the company – what do you think?

For now, we’ll give you time to digest the unveiling of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and watch a gameplay video of Hawkeye Vs Strider that we’ve added below for you. It will be interesting to see if gamers can justify paying $40 for Rocket Raccoon and the rest, or if gamers think this is a blatent kick in the face by Capcom to their loyal fans.

Comic Con is one of our favorite times of the year, especially this year as we are going to be treated to new movie trailers for The Avengers and The Amazing Spiderman. However, as childhood Mortal Kombat fans, we were delighted to hear that Ed Boon and the rest of NetherRealm Studios will be travelling down to San Diego to reveal some brand new information on the game.

The key reveal of the day will be the unveiling of Mortal Kombat’s 4th DLC character, which has been shrouded in mystery up until this point. Speculation has hinted that it may be Tanya, although if you have been keeping an eye on Ed Boon’s Twitter account, you’ll know that it could just be about anyone as he’s staying firm on this particular reveal.

Not only will Ed Boon reveal who the character is, lucky attendees at the Mortal Kombat Comic Con event will also get the chance to have the first play of the mystery fighter before he/she releases on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace in the coming weeks. We’ve only just had a chance to get to grips with Rain though, so we hope it’s still a few weeks until the next DLC character is out, making Mortal Kombat’s Comic Con event even more special.

To top it off further, the GameStop store near the Comic Con convention center will be holding a Mortal Kombat tournament as well. If you think you are one of the top MK players in the world and happen to be near the Comic Con event location at 7PM local time, it’s well worth putting your skills to the test against other players. Who knows, you may even be able to square off against some of the developers of the game, that would be pretty awesome wouldn’t it?

What are you more excited about, the reveal of the fourth DLC character for the game, or the release of the final episode of Mortal Kombat Legacy which will tell the story of Cyrax and Sektor? We loved the Scorpion and Sub Zero episodes so we’re hoping for more of the same, as the first few episodes in the series were a bit weak.

One of the biggest movie trailers had to be “The Amazing Spider-Man”, which saw its Comic-Con debut teaser within the last 24 hours. The release was planned to be this year but it had to be pushed back after the director left the project. You can see the teaser trailer below this article, and the new release date is July 3, 2012.

Another anticipated launch is The Darkness II videogame, which is due to be released on Feb 7, 2011. This first-person shooter from 2K Games will get a preview today at San Diego’s Comic-Con, meaning those attending will get hands-on with hitman Jackie Estacado. Jim Lee is known for his best-selling comic book, and has just been discussing Comic Con and what he loves about it. The DC Comics legend loves how this year’s event will see so many people attending that will learn about the world of comics, although they may not be into comics. CBS news reports the full details and features a video showing Lee’s views on Comic Con 2011.

Comic-Con is an international event that will see over 120,000 people attend, and they’ll be looking for much more than just comics. Toys, gaming, TV, movies, costume fantasy, the cool Comic Con exclusives and a lot more will be on offer. The state has posted an article that looks at how creators and Hollywood celebrities will help attract more people, and they will be sitting on panels to talk to fans.

Ripten points out that gamers will be happy to know about some of the games playable at Comic-Con 2011, which includes The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3. First showing has posted some nice photos last night, which give those that cannot attend a look at the night showfloor, and USA Today details all the buzz you need to know for this years event. Comic-Con’s organizers didn’t expand on the “technical issues”, however at least we know that we can get our hands on the tickets next week. As we here more on the situation we will do our best to keep you update.
