We have some fantastic news for those of you in Europe who are planning to pick up the long awaited Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. The game has just been given a showing at the 2011 Comic Con Expo in New York, and there’s a big surprise in store for you.

During the event in New York, developers Bioware announced that the game will now be releasing on December 20 in Europe, which is two days ahead of the originally planned December 22 launch date. It now means that European consumers will be able to purchase and enjoy the game on the exact same date that Americans get it – so everyone can bask in the beauty of SWTOR together.

We have to say that it is a frustrating experience in that fact that Europeans, UK consumers especially, usually get shunted to the bottom of the list in terms of game releases, so considering the likes of Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim all have global release dates, it’s pleasing to see Bioware and EA give the same treatment to Star Wars: The Old Republic as well.

A new trailer titled Signs of War was also unveiled at the NY Comic Con event, so check it out below if you have yet to see it. We’ve also uploaded some footage of Bioware’s event itself, so if you consider yourself to be a Star Wars fanatic but didn’t have the opportunity to get to New York last week, then don’t miss that video either.

SWTOR is PC only don’t forget, so you’ll have to head out and buy yourself a capable system if you’re still running your PC on old hardware. The upcoming game is surely going to test the capabilities of your current PC rig, on the plus side – you’ll be able to enjoy games like MW3, BF3 and Skyrim in their best form as well.

Are you prioritizing the new Star Wars game ahead of the likes of Skyrim, MF3 and MW3, or is it a game that you will play less you think?

This week sees the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International kick off (from July 21st – July 24th) and although the annual event is mostly about comic books, sci-fi / fantasy and film / television, video games will still be playing a fairly big part. In fact, there will be plenty of upcoming titles to check out, including a number of Kinect games.

One of the biggest Kinect titles to be featured at this year’s Comic-Con International event has to be the much-anticipated Kinect Star Wars game. As Istran over on the 123kinect.com website recently noted, not only will attendees get a chance to play the game, but they will also get to hear about a brand new game mode.

Attendees will also get the opportunity to visit the Kinect Stars Wars panel, where they can hear lead producer Craig Derrick (LucasArts) and studio head Jorg Neumann (Kinect Publishing) talk about the upcoming game with USA Today’s Mike Snider, as well as make an exciting announcement. All visitors will receive a limited edition poster.

Meanwhile, the Hard Rock Hotel – located at 207 5th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101 – will be hosting the Xbox Lounge, a place where visitors can check out some of the hottest upcoming games for the Xbox 360. This includes two of the biggest sequels for the Xbox 360 Kinect: Dance Central 2 and Kinect Sports: Season 2.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to check out the upcoming horror and free-roaming Kinect title Rise of Nightmares, as well as Twisted Pixel Games’ upcoming game The Gunstringer. Some of the other games that attendees will be able to check out include The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Age of Empires and the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham City.

Those of you that are Halo fans will be pleased to know that there will also be a Halo Universe Panel at this year’s Comic-Con. The Halo Universe Panel will have Kevin Grace, Frank O’Connor (and other members from 343 Industries) and special guests Karen Traviss and Greg Bear discussing the first ten years of ‘Halo,’ as well as a preview of what’s next.

The Halo Universe Panel will be held in Room 6BCF of the San Diego Convention Center on Friday, 22nd July from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Will you be attending the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International event? If you are, which games are you looking forward to checking out the most?

With the big San Diego event just weeks away, we now have for you the Comic-Con 2011 schedule, and we can already see from the list of events that expectations will be running high. Tickets went on sale for this event back in November, which we can remember there being an issue with the website, so fans were not able to get their tickets on the day.

Tickets as always have been selling well, and you might struggle to get one now. We cannot say for certain how many people will go through the doors during the event, but 125,000 is the number that has been suggested to us by the Washington Post. So what can we expect on the first day?

July 20, 2011 is the night before Comic-Con 2011 is due to begin, and there is to be a special preview event on the Wednesday evening. This will give you the chance to have a sneaky look at what will be coming up during the event.

Looking over we can see four special announcements during that evening, these are Alcatraz, Person of Interest, The Secret Circle and Supernatural: The Anime Series. Now you may wonder why we would want to cover an article about movies, comics etc, but we have seen year-on-year that a few games have shown up during this event. So we expect this year to be no different.

July 21 is when the real fun begins, and we can already see on the full schedule list that DC Comics will be there as always. This is great news, as we will get to see how far the guys have got with their development of Batman: Arkham City, which you can see a 12-minute preview of here.

In keeping with the gaming theme, we have also learned that a movie version of BioWare’s Mass Effect will make an appearance on July 22nd, so one day after the official opening day. We should get a sneak peak at the movie, along with insider information on development. It will certainly be good to see how well of a transition they have made from the console to the big screen. We just hope that they do not have the same fate as Max Payne, Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

Having said that, Max Payne was not as bad as all that, although there were key areas where it was let down, and Mark Wahlberg was not one of them.

If you are looking forward to Comic Con 2011 we have some important news for you, apparently ticket sales have been rescheduled and will <s>go on sale</s> get a new sale date on November 8th, instead of today.

If you head over to the official Comic Con website there is a huge banner saying that there is important information regarding registrations for Comic-Con 2011, when you click on this link you are taken to a page which shows the following message.

We are really sorry for the problems with registration today. We do not know what the technical issues are, so we have temporarily closed registration.

We will announce on Monday, November 8th, the new date and time that registration will reopen. This down-time will allow us to determine and address the issues.

Only a handful of badges were actually sold today.

Thank you for your patience, and again, we all are truly sorry for this inconvenience.

Comic-Con’s organizers didn’t expand on the “technical issues”, however at least we know that we can get our hands on the tickets next week. As we here more on the situation we will do our best to keep you update.

Were you lucky enough to get a ticket before this problem arose?
