AT&T is slowly expanding their U-Verse service to more parts of the country, and gives consumers a nice choice when deciding who to use for their broadband and IPTV provider. Today we have an article for you comparing Comcast vs AT&T U-Verse with analysis on video.

The AT&T U-Verse service provides customers with internet, phone and TV which is sent down a fiber connection. It is this connection which will provide customers with a faster more stable service. You also get a PVR for your TV viewing at no extra cost. Below you can see a video by 2alivenews which is comparing the AT&T service to what’s on offer at Comcast.

The news channel uses a service from Comcast which works out pretty expensive if you need broadband and lots of TV channels. They were also the only company offering all the services in one package. The news channel currently pay around $140 per month for their package, but unfortunately their internet speed is very slow.

They experience frequent outages and just normal internet surfing is a slow process; with even chatting to friends on Facebook can be a problem. They have tried to remedy the problems by contacting Comcast but nothing the company suggests makes any difference.

The video then cuts to one of the 2alive teams houses where they just had the AT&T U-Verse service installed. Not only are they getting quicker broadband, but also a much better TV signal and phone call quality. AT&T also offers a variety of bundle deals to save the consumer more money.

Have a watch of the video and tell us what you think of AT&T U-Verse and Comcast.

For those of you that need to be connected to the internet wherever you are in the world whether it is for business reasons or just like to be able to stay in touch with loved ones, here is news of a device you may be interested in.

Clearwire have combined with Comcast in the past to produce the WiMAX and now Comcast have returned to add the Xfinity 3G/4G MiFi device or if you prefer mobile hotspot, to its 2go line of Xfinity Internet devices.

For those who aren’t familiar with mobile hotspots they are basically a router that you can take with you as they pick up broadband wherever they are. They also can be used for sharing over the same network.

As the article at Comcast.com explains there is no need for USB connection or a PPC, these MiFi devices allow other mobile devices to connect to the internet wirelessly. Click the link to find out more about the device.

What do you think of the new Xfinity mobile hotspot? Will you be getting one? Let us know in the comments below.

After successfully launching its Xfinity TV remote control app for the Apple iPhone and iPad, Comcast has now decided to release the app for Android devices. However, it unfortunately doesn’t include a video streaming to the app feature as of yet, as this will be added on at a later date.

According to a recent article by Richard Lawler over at engadget.com, the Xfinity TV remote control app for Android currently supports the basic of features such as searching the Video on Demand library, remote controlling your cable boxes and setting up DVR recordings.

As Richard notes, the app is currently optimized for smartphones, although it should work on tablet PCs too despite there being no official support yet. The Xfinity TV remote control app even enables users to filter the content by network, HD, genre, free and a lot more.

The application does require an Internet connection (3G or Wi-Fi) and a compatible cable/set top box, as well as a Comcast ID or Comcast.net e-mail address and password. The Xfinity TV app will work on most handsets running Google Android 2.1 or 2.2.

You can download the app from the Android Market now. Do you own an Android device and a cable/set top box? If so, will you be downloading the Comcast Xfinity TV Remote Control app?

For all of you in the Midwest who have Comcast as your provider you are probably cursing again, the DNS servers have been giving you a lot of grief in recent times and guess what, they are to blame again.

Previously we brought you a fix for the problem saying that you will need to slightly adjust your DNS settings whilst Comcast again will be working hard to sort the problems out. Not good news for Comcast as this is the second incident in recent times.

Sean Hollister at engadget.com is saying this time the issues have been narrowed down to Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois. So if you have friends in these places why not get in touch and tell them to point their computer to a public domain name server to keep them connected.

It really does look like Comcast are digging themselves a hole and if they get too deep there will be no coming back.

Have you been affected by Comcast’s latest booboo? Let us know in the comments below.

If you are a Comcast subscriber in the US, you are probably pulling your hair out as it has been confirmed that the internet service has encountered a collection of problems, resulting in outages for a lot of consumers during the last few hours.

It has been picked up by Engadget, who have narrowed the outrage down to customers in the Boston area, as well as customers who live in the Eastern parts of the US.

Comcast has already addressed the outrage as ‘unexpected’ and are obvioulsy working hard to get the situation fixed up as soon as possible. Luckily, there appears to be a temporary fix if you find yourself being constantly disconnected, as Engadget states that trying Google’s DNS servers at 8.8.4.4. and 8.8.8.8 may correct the problem, whilst Comcast get their act together.

If you are reading this from your mobile and are currently disconnected on Comcast, try the method above and let us know if it works for you.

Whenever we hear that the FCC is to launch a case against someone, we always presume that they will win – but not so with the recent Net Neutrality issue with Comcast. The U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that the Federal Communications Commission failed in its bid to implement its legal authority against Comcast in 2008.

The ruling said that the FCC did not have the authority to regulate ISPs; this now throws into doubt if the FCC has any weight with the national broadband plan? This ruling has dealt a huge blow to the net neutrality rules; this is where companies such as Comcast have to treat all Internet traffic as equal.

Mercury News explains that without rules and guidelines, then Internet service providers will begin to favor certain users on their networks – this could result in users speed or data limits being reduced. There is even a possibility that high download users could be charged extra.

You can certainly see the pros and cons of this argument; do you think that these ISPs should favor those who do not download much?
