Without further ado, we can confirm that the name for the next DLC pack will be called Annihilation. As usual, the pack will consist of four new multiplayer maps and a brand new zombie map.

As surprising as this may seem for some of you, the DLC will be available to play this month – June 28th to be exact. The date was confirmed in an official promo poster for the new content which was intercepted by the guys over at VG247.

The price will be 1200 Microsoft Points, which is the standard price these days for new Black Ops content. As you might have guessed, the map will once again release on Xbox 360 first, as part of Microsoft and Activision’s ongoing exclusivity agreement.

The four maps have already been confirmed to be called Silo, Drive-In, Hanger18 and Hazard. We’re pretty surprised that this is coming out so soon after the release of Escalation. PS3 gamers have only just got their hands on the content this week, but while they are busy playing that, Xbox 360 gamers will have four brand new maps and a new zombie experience to enjoy – talk about rubbing it in Microsoft.

According to a recent computerandvideogames.com article by Tom Ivan, the news of the patch was confirmed on Twitter by community manager Josh Olin, who also mentioned that the developer is still planning on releasing Mod Tools before the end of this month.

The new CoD: Black Ops patch 1.09 not only adds support for Mods in preparation of the upcoming tools launch, but it’s also addressed a number of multiplayer and zombie exploits and fixed an issue which occasionally required the repurchase of clan tags and emblems on weapons.

It’s also prevented a rare invulnerability issue from occurring, improved memory utilization in multiplayer, addressed an issue where some players could not receive zombie invites and improved the DLC filter in the server browser, so players can hide servers that are running content they don’t own.

The update has also fine-tuned napalm and bombing-run damage indoors, replaced the RPG with Grim Reaper in Gun Game Wager Match and made it so that demolition bombs can no longer explode and be defused at the same time. You can read about the other changes via CVG.

It may be pretty strange timing to bring out this PS3 bundle now, especially with Modern Warfare 3 around the corner, but it’s still a very good deal anyway if you don’t own Black Ops on the PS3.

For the standard PS3 price of $299, you can now get a 160GB PS3 console, a copy of Black Ops, and also the First Strike DLC content bundled in as well. That’s a pretty sweet deal there, but it would have been even better of course if they had thrown Escalation in there as well – but hey, we can’t get too greedy.

Who is planning to get this? We still don’t believe that there’s a good deal of you who don’t own a copy of Black Ops yet – prove us wrong.

Developers Treyarch have just announced that the Escalation map pack for PC will be available to download via Steam on June 2nd as reported from VG247. That is almost a month exactly since it first became available on the Xbox Live Marketplace on May 3rd.

For those of you who still don’t know, Escalation adds four new multiplayer maps and a brand new zombie map. The multiplayer maps are Stockpile, Zoo, Hotel and Convoy, while most of you won’t need us to tell you that the brand new zombie map is called Call of the Dead. You can check out our guide here for the main easter egg in that mode if you missed it a few weeks ago.

Sadly, there is still no official release date for PS3 gamers. This is quite unusual since Treyarch usually announce PS3 and PC release dates together. Perhaps this has something to do with the uncertainty surrounding the PlayStation Store. We’ll keep you updated on this.

As most of you are already aware, the main easter egg has already been solved in solo mode, but not co-op mode, until now that is. You can head here for details on how to unlock the wunderwaffe on solo mode, but now it’s all about co-op.

We’re going to skip straight to the golden rod stage, and contrary to previous rumors, you DON’T have to shoot a wall inside a cave at the start of the map. Instead you have to solve a series of complex lighthouse dials, and we can tell you the correct code is 2-7-4-6 and you have to input this code from top to bottom. Each dial affects other dials below, so starting from the the top: change the first one to 2 to make a 7 appear in the 2nd dial. After this, change the forth dial until you get a 6. Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to return to the 2nd dial and input until you get a 4 in the third dial. Finally, return to the first dial until you get a 2 and 7. It’s slightly confusing to read we agree, but as long as you get the complete code 2-7-4-6, you will complete this step.

You’ll be pleased to hear that the next step is a lot easier, as you just have to activate the four large radios that have noise coming from them, in the correct order. You can find out where these radios are in the video below.

The next step is to proceed to the ship’s cabin as you have to activate the levers just like you would in the solo mode. The correct combination is left lever 1, right lever 3 times and move wheel 2.

Now onto another part which gamers are having difficulty with – activating the green light in co-op mode. This is done by the fog horns you see around the map, as you have to activate them in the correct order. There are four in total, and the correct code is best explained by watching the video below.

Thankfully, completing this step will turn on that green light, and the last step is to shoot a zombie into the green light with the V-R11 and then shoot him again with a ray gun or scavenger whilst he is being sucked in. Doing this will give you the golden rod and complete the easter egg after you’ve given it to Richtofen. Just like the solo easter egg, the reward is the Wunderwaffe and an achievement, but sadly the Wunderwaffe is only for one member of your team and runs out when you’re out of ammo.

We have come across a video, which shows just what this new weapon does. This is done by firing some sort of yellow electricity at the zombies, what is strange is how they revert back to humans wearing suits. Does this mean that all undead used to wear suits?

Some gamers have picked up on the fact that these humans still die, we have to wonder if you are happy killing an innocent human? Yes they were trying to kill you before, but once human they are just normal. The other worrying fact is that it could get the attention of more zombies.

However, this might confuse them enough, just in time for someone on your team to come up behind them and do a whole load of shooting? Xbox 360 players have had this map pack all to themselves, we still have no clue as to when PSN will go live so that PS3 users can enjoy Call of the Dead.

As most of you will be aware, you can only usually carry a maximum of 4 perks whilst playing. But a further secret has been discovered which will allow all players, yes all players to obtain 7 perks, either on single player mode or co-op mode.

The trick actually lies in a previous secret we informed about, which was how to ‘kill’ George Romero. Well, you don’t actually kill him, but at least you stop him coming back for a while and you are rewarded with the death machine, a perk and an achievement. You can head to our previous guide here for full information on that.

Anyway, the perk that George drops actually brings your total tally to 5 if you already have 4 perks in your inventory. Simply repeat the process two more times, and you can obtain all perks in the game, the first time that Treyarch has allowed for a maximum of seven perks at once. Try it now for yourself and let us know if it works for you.

It’s important to note that the main easter egg in the game is different depending on whether you are playing on single player mode or co-op. As far as we can tell, the co-op easter egg hasn’t been solved after the Golden Rod step yet, but we now know what happens when you finish it on single player.

After the first two steps mentioned here, obtaining the fuse and destroying the red orb generators, you then need to insert a morse code pattern on the levers located at the top of the building, the exact location is revealed in a video below courtesy of NextGenTactics who are probably one of the first teams to solve this mystery.

After you’ve done this step, a green light will appear from a submarine, and if you proceed to the bottom of the spiral stairs, you’ll see that’s where the green light stops. What you need to do here, is shoot a crawler into the green light using your V-R11 weapon. Watch closely as the transformed human gets sucked into the light and if you follow the stairs up, you’ll see he disappears into some vortex into the sky. So what do you do next?

Well, the clever guys at NGT discovered that you need to shoot one of these humans with a scavenger sniper rifle whilst they are being sucked into the green light. Doing so will cause him to explode and you’ll then receive the golden rod at the bottom of the stairs – but that’s not all!

After hitting the locked door a few times after giving Richtofen the golden rod, you’ll see the easter egg come to a conclusion, as they thank you for your efforts, before they are once again teleported to another location. They leave you with the Wunderwaffe lightning weapon as a reward, as well as a gamer picture of Takeo on your profile and the ‘Stand-in’ achievement!

Treyarch must have thought really long and hard about this easter egg story and it’s crazy to think it’s been solved in a matter of days. Have you got the wunderwaffe as well? Let us know if you have found out any more secrets in Call of the Dead zombies.

If you’ve played the map, you’ll know what we are talking about as you’ll need to solve a series of clues that the old players give you from inside the door. If you stand outside the door and hit it with your knife, you’ll hear each familiar voices from Dempsey, Takeo, Nikolai and Richtofen.

After listening to what they have said, you’ll first need to locate a fuse. This is located near the PhD Flopper perk either on a desk or in a locker. Once you have it, return to the locked door and insert the fuse next to the door. After this, the room will now receive power and you’ll have to perform the next step, which is finding four red orb generators hidden throughout the map and destroy them.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll have to find bottles of Vodka for Nikolai and these are located in random places and it’s a task that requires one of your teammates. This is because once you’ve located the vodka, one will have to break the ice, and the teammate will have to catch the bottle of vodka below without it smashing. You’ll know when you’ve done it right, and if you’ve smashed it – there are a few bottles scattered, so don’t worry if you break it the first time.

After this, you’ll then be asked to find a golden rod for Richtofen, which is proving to be the most difficult task for gamers. We can tell you that the golden rod Richtofen is referring to is hidden near the start of the map, behind a wall in the cave. You’ll then need to shoot this wall with the upgraded V-R11, although we’ve heard it also works with an upgraded Ray Gun.

Unfortunately, that’s all we have at the moment as the complete mystery hasn’t been solved yet after the Golden Rod stage. If you have found any further hints to this Easter Egg or received any rewards for it, leave us a message below.

As for the Hidden Song, simply activate three meteorites hidden throughout the map (just like previous maps), and you’ll then get to listen to the “Not Ready to Die” track by Avenged Sevenfold.

We have a feeling that most of you will have gone straight into the Call of the Dead mode, so we want to know your impressions of the new zombie map, just a day after release. Have you already figured out the best way to the power switch and the first weapon box location?

As with previous zombie maps on Black Ops, it seems as if Treyarch increase the difficulty on each one, but there is always a few solid tactics which will ensure that you always get to the later rounds providing you have a good team and decent communication skills.

With this in mind, we want to know what level you have managed to reach so far? Have you managed to get past level 20, or are you still figuring out how to stop George Romero chasing you with his electric hammer? We’ll be amazed if some of you have got past level 30 already, so leave us a comment if you think you’ve cracked the map already.
