Stop Call of Duty 4
When I first got my hands on Call of Duty 4 (that’s a while ago now), I played the single player game for a few hours and loved it and then it all stopped. The reason for this was discovering the online gaming side of COD 4 and now I have never looked back, most of my gaming time goes to moving towards prestige 10. The reason many gamers love COD4 is for the fantastic online play, how good the action is and the fact that it’s modern combat.

Now with Call of Duty 5 insight and some gameplay should have been showed at Microsoft’s gaming event yesterday, we got to ask if Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 gamers will stop Call of Duty 4 for COD 5’s WWII game?

The moment we can get our hands on COD5 it will be played a lot. That said, if the World at War game is not as much fun online as COD4, then I could see myself moving back to COD4. Can you see yourself doing the same thing?

The reason we try new games is to see how good they are but if you enjoy another game much more then you would naturally play that instead. Just because a newer version of a game gets released it does not mean we have to drop the last version, you can see this with many games on the PC over the years, people still play Counter Strike.

Call of Duty 4 has been one of the biggest games ever to hit the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, it’s beat records of online play and we will have to see a very good COD5 to make a lot of gamers move on, well that’s unless they get bored of COD4.

Call of Duty 5 World at War release date confirmed for fall: December 31, 2008

call of duty world at war release date
Call of Duty World at War (CoD 5) has got many gamers talking with some saying they cannot wait and some saying why the hell is it based around WWII, well we have some more news about the game for those who want the game and who are a little interested.

Activision Inc and Treyarch has just announced that they will be taking all you Call of Duty players into deep South Pacific and European theaters this fall for Call of Duty: World at War, this new game which may be loved or indeed hated is a game that contains a gritty fight that will put players up against enemies that know no surrender and of course the enemies show no mercy at all. The new game utilizes Call of Duty 4 (CoD 4) Modern Warfare engine and now throws the rulebook right out of the window of war to transform World War 2 (WWII) combat through a new enemy, there will be stunning new tactics and new experiences of the climate battles that gripped a generation. As U.S Marines and Russian soldiers you the player will love new features like cooperative gameplay, cinematically intense experience and brand new weapons like flamethrowers.

“With Call of Duty: World at War, we’re re-defining what it means to play a WWII game,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We’re excited to give players a host of new enemies that employ entirely new tactics, as well as new, groundbreaking tools - like co-op and the flamethrower - to succeed in the epic fight.”

Call of Duty: World at War features cool co-operative play “No One Fights Alone”, mantra with up to four-players online for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, or two-player local split-screen on consoles, this game will also be supported on the Nintendo Wii which will also feature co-op mode for two players, what we like is the fact for the first time ever in the Call of Duty gaming players will see new single-player missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution, the co-op campaign will allow you to rank up and like the CoD 4 get many perks in competitive multiplayer by completing challenges and earning experience points, of course this is where the fun factor and addictive gameplay comes from. Whether playing competitively or cooperatively - if players are online with Call of Duty: World at War - they will always gain experience points. Based on a player’s experience rank and rank of the player’s friends, Call of Duty: World at War will scale dynamically to provide a deeper level of challenge.

Call of Duty: World at War is still in development for the Sony Playstation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PC, the game will be released this fall of 2008, the game has not yet been rated by the ESRB, ok so we will see the game this fall but I was not happy with that so I done some digging. Apparently the game will be release December 31, 2008.For more information and exclusive updates about Call of Duty: World at War, visit www.callofduty.com

Are you looking forward to this game, or are you disappointed that it is based around WWII?

First Call of Duty 5 trailer
Today we see the first ever Call of Duty 5 trailer for the Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and PC. This game trailer also confirms the recent news that the next version of the game will leave modern combat and go back to WWII, which has upset many Call of Duty fans. Being a gamer that has been playing COD 4 nearly everyday, I will be buying the next version of the game but it’s a real shame this franchise is moving back to World War II when we have so many other weapons to explore in the modern day.

The new Call of Duty 5: World at War trailer can be seen below this post, it does not show any gameplay at this early stage and its just a teaser to give you a taste of what’s to come in COD 5. The story looks like it could be a good one and a lot of thought must be going into this, but as all other COD gamers know, the online gameplay is going to have to equal COD 4 at least. This will be hard considering how popular the current version has become across Xbox Live and the Playstation Network.

So get your first look of the story coming in COD5 below and now that we know its going to be WWII, will you give the new developers the benefit of the doubt and wait to we see some gameplay or even a demo before making a decision on buying it? As a long term Call of Duty fan I will have to buy the game to give it a real chance and I am sure it will be much better than many other games I have bought, maybe just because it’s a franchise I love so much.

Let us know what you think of the new trailer and your World at War expectations?

Call of Duty 5: What era should it have been and your wish list?

Following on from the news we reported the other day about Call of Duty 5: moving back to the World War 2 era from the current modern day warfare we see in COD 4, we have not only heard from some gamers that are not happy with this but also from Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 gamers that are happy with this change.

What era would you have liked to see Call of Duty 5 in and are you happy it’s moving back to WWII?

With Activision’s COD 5 details being kept under raps until now, we now all know its going to be called “Call of Duty: World at War” and this followed a little tease saying it will be a “new military theater”. The battle for the Pacific during World War II will be fun, but I am not sure if it can achieve the success we have seen in the current game.

What would you like to see in the next version of Call of Duty and what features do you think the current version lacks that the next needs?

Personally, I want to see better online gaming connections so that when the host drops, the host role is passed to another player and not the game ended. If you play COD4 you will know how annoying this is. Improved chat would be good and also the environments need to be more destroyable. Let us know your wish list in the comments box below.
