There are many ways to make an already great car even more special and that is to release a limited edition model, much like Bugatti have done with the Veyron. However, other carmakers are getting in on the act, with the recently announced Audi R8 China-specific edition proof of that. Although the Audi R8 for China price is MIA, we do know that it will be a lot more reasonable than the Veyron.

There will only be eighty Audi R8 China Edition vehicles; they will come in two different color variants and will be known by their colors, which will be the Audi R8 China Edition Malibu blue, or the Inverse. The former will have the main body in blue with the sideblades grey in color, with the latter having a grey main body and blue sideblades.

What makes this China Edition different to other models is not only those colors but also the 19-inch 5 twin-spoke “Y” design high-gloss black wheels and the carbon matt spoiler, which we have to say “gives it a much more aggressive look“, something we know the Chinese market will love. It’s worth noting that there are significant changes to the interior, which you can see by visiting the official Audi website, but there are no tuning tweaks or improvements to the handling.

As yet the Audi R8 for China price is yet to be revealed, but at least with know that apart from the different features mentioned above the Audio R8 China Edition specs will be just the same as the standard version, so you’ll still have the same 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 525 horsepower, which is pretty impressive when you consider how light the vehicle is. That’s enough for a top speed of 316 km/h and a 0-100 km/h of 3.9 seconds. It’s hard to know how popular this model will be, and not knowing the cost and when the new model will be available is not a good start to spark interest – although it could make those interested even more intrigued.

The Apple iPhone has many fans around the world and since the last version was released the device has sold in even greater numbers. As the company rolls out the global launch violence brings a halt to the China iPhone 4S release at Apple’s retail stores.

There were thousands of people queuing up outside the company’s retail stores in the country, and some of them didn’t even open. Apple has now said it has stopped the sale of all iPhone models via its retails stores in China. The BBC is reporting that the sore located in the Sanlitun area of Beijing, didn’t even open after the crowd fighting amongst themselves and with the police.

China is Apple’s second largest mobile phone market, and the world’s biggest. Apple released a statement and said it didn’t open the Sanlitun store because of the large crowd and to protect the safety of “customers and employees”.

Chinese customers can still purchase the smartphones via the Apple online store, or at China Unicom and other various resellers. Other stores in Beijing and Shanghai opened without any problems with the iPhone 4S selling out completely.

Large crowds started to gather outside the Apple stores overnight with police being deployed to keep control of them. At Apple’s Sanlitun store in Beijing after it failed to open at 7:00 am local time it was pelted with eggs by some of the crowd.

Once it was announced it wasn’t going to open the crowd began shouting “liar” and “open the door”. At around 10:00 am local time all the crowds had dispersed. Are you surprised by the trouble in China?

Many parts of the world have had access to the iPhone 4S since it was first launched back in October, but with any iPhone release it is staggered around the world. Now on Friday the 13th China is to get the iPhone 4S along with a variety of other nations.

The news that was announced by a press release from the company ends months of speculation of when the handset would be reaching the country. This continues the quick rollout around the world of the latest iPhone, and according to AppleInsider will bring the device to over 90 countries.

Other countries also getting the iPhone 4S on the 13th include the likes of the British Virgin Islands, Cameroon, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and the Ivory Coast among others. Before speculation suggested that China would be getting the handset before the Chinese New year, which is on January the 23rd.

It is thought that the Siri voice assistant feature will have support for Mandarin, which is the most popular form of the Chinese language by March. Hong Kong saw the device become available during the beginning of November, and some branches of China Unicom in China have been taking advance orders for the iPhone 4S for weeks now.

Back in December on the 16th saw the device expanding to a number of other countries that included Brazil and Russia. The iPhone 4S has now become the quickest rollout that Apple has ever achieved with their flagship smartphone, and despite only being an upgraded version of the previous model is selling well.

Apple’s popularity was beginning to be questioned with the growth of Android users increasing, but it seems that if anything the company’s popularity has spread even more global as it was discovered China became the second largest market in terms of revenue after the September quarter earnings call was revealed.

The economic progress that the country has made to gain this status has been described as ‘amazing’ by Apple CEO Tim Cook. He insists the company will now do everything they can and have been doing in the US, to sustain the increasing growth in Apple product interest there. This includes advertising and 3rd party channel, APR channel, online and retail stores strategies.

The earnings call also showed that revenue in the Asia Pacific region totaled $6.53 billion and represented a 139% growth year over year. Europe and the Americas generated $7.39 billion and $9.64 billion by comparison. China is now ‘the fastest growing region by far’ in terms of revenue, having rose from 2% in 2009 to 12% this year and 16% this quarter.

As the Wall Street Journal explains earlier this year Apple claimed its China stores attracted more than 40,000 visitors a day compared to 10,000 per day in US stores. The stores in China also have the highest average revenue and highest average traffic of all the Apple stores across the globe. There are currently only five Apple stores in mainland China and the company opened another store in Hong Kong in September.

Although it is unsure how long this new found success will last, given the fragility of China’s economic growth due to global recession, Apple will be doing their best to take advantage while it is here. They will also focus on other regions including the Middle East, Russia and Brazil. How long do you think the interest in China will last?

With the recent retirement of the NASA space fleet of shuttles, it means a window has opened up giving other nations the opportunity to try to catch up in the space race, and one country that is seemingly taking full advantage of it is China, as they take a giant step with their Tiangong-1 rocket launch.

Neil Armstrong is among several concerned prominent figures in the space community who have expressed concern that NASA and the US, after being ahead in the space race for years, may find themselves left behind by other nations. According to The Guardian, the Chinese launch, which occurred on Thursday, marked the first step in what could be the start of a change in power between competing nations.

Ever since the US beat the Soviets to landing the first human on the moon back in 1969, they have remained relatively unchallenged when it comes to dominance for forty years. Now it looks like China is on the verge of becoming the third nation to possess a manned space station in outer space, although this achievement in itself is not really significant one considering NASA launched their space station Skylab in 1973.

China has only been carrying out space research for a short period of time but has already invested millions of dollars and now has hardware to show for it. NASA on the other hand currently has nothing available, though they did announce plans for future spacecraft, the Space Launch System, which is promised to be the most powerful rocket the world has ever seen.

What do you think of the progress that China has made with their space research?

Google and China have had a troubled history, and that looks set to continue with the news that China is being accused of interfering with some Gmail accounts.

Malcolm Moore from The Telegraph is reporting in an article that access to Gmail has been intermittent of late for users inside China. And now some foreign journalists are reporting that they have seen their accounts hacked into. The reports have coincided with authority’s stepping up their campaign to control the content on the internet.

This has come after there have been calls for a similar revolution in China on the web to what has been going on in the Middle East. Google has said that its engineers could find no technical difficulties with its website or its Gmail service.

In a statement Google said there was no “issue on our side”, and went on to say that a “government blockage carefully designed to look like the problem is with Gmail”. Just two weeks ago Google had mentioned they had noticed attacks against users in China.

Computer experts have said the Chinese government has started a new layer of censorship infrastructure to stop internet users in China by-passing the Great Firewall. Up until recently many internet users inside China have built private networks to swerve any censorship and keep information confidential. Now many companies who have these networks have reported them not working in the last week.

Do you think Google will eventually pull out of China altogether?

You may have recently read how LinkedIn had been blocked in some parts of China, well now we are hearing that access has been restored.

From what we can see LinkedIn was blocked because a user setup a forum thread which spoke about the idea of a “Jasmine Revolution” in China, the Jasmine Revolution relates to the revolts currently occurring in the Middle East, this obviously didn’t go down too well with the Chinese government.

If you have been reading our articles over the past year or so you will probably be aware that the Chinese government like to control what its citezens can view online, previously we saw how Google pulled the plug on China following concerns about China’s human rights policies, therefore it is unsurprising to hear that Jasmine Revolution talk got LinkedIn blocked.

One spokesman representing LinkedIn recently suggested that the business-oriented social networking website was monitoring the situation, therefore don’t be too surprised if this isn’t the last we hear about the situation.

You can find out fully detailed information about LinkedIn being blocked by China on BBC News.

Do you think China are correct to restrict what their citizens see online?
