There are truly some amazing 2012 model cars coming, if not here already, and one that recently hit the headlines was the Chevy Camaro ZL1. The reason for the sudden interest is due to the fact that this new model has exceeding price expiations. Instead of costing around $50,000, the first model went to auction and got $250,00 – now why would anyone want to pay that for a muscle car?

However, we should not lose sight of why it fetched so much money, it was because the proceeds were going to the YMCA of Southern Nevada, which was the charity of choice for Hendricks Motorsports, as the Examiner reports. We do not expect to see the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 until early next year, which is also when the buyer will receive theirs.

We have to say that this is the best version of the Camaro that Chevy has made for many years, and we just hope that drivers feel the same, as it would be a shame for the car to be just another model? What makes this version so special is how it helps to commemorate the 1969 Camaro ZL1, which as most of you will know is a true legend.

The new incarnation of the ZL1 will come with a very powerful 6.2 liter V8, which produces 580hp. We cannot say how well it will handle, but do not expect anything like you get from a German made car. We are sorry to upset true American car fans, but it’s a fact that Muscle cars are made for speed in a straight line, and cannot seem to handle a corner like a BMW or an Audi.

Depending who you ask most people will come up with the same answer, as to what is the top 10 best muscle cars of all time are. One thing we do know, none of the cars being made today will make it on a future list, as they lack the character as the old models have.

Muscle cars back in the day were all about one thing, power and lots of it. However, there is no getting away from the fact that they also had that certain look that made you fall in love with them. Autos Craze has listed the top ten, but do you agree with the list?

The first on the list, and one that many car fans agree on is the Ford Mustang Boss 429. The reason why this vehicle resides at the number one spot is because the car not only looks aggressive but also has the power to back it up. Number two is the 64 Dodge Charger; this car was loved because of its slight resemblance to the Mustang. The most loved feature of this car apart from those looks was the 7.4-litre V8 powerful engine, which produced an eye-popping 450bhp.

About.com Cars has been looking at the top ten of modern day muscle cars, and they just don’t seem to have the same vibe. A fine exapmple of what I am talking about is their number one car on the list, the Cadillac CTS-V. Personally I think that this is one of the most ugliest cars I have seen in some time, and that’s not the only horrible car on the modern day list.

If you had to choose what would be your ultimate muscle car of all time?

Camaro Outsells Mustang: Is Your Buying Decision Affected?

When is comes to muscle cars the Ford Mustang has been the number one seller for the past 24 years, but that has now changed, as GM’s Chevy Camaro has now taken the top spot. We just wonder if this result will now affect your buying decision? There has to be a good reason why the result has changed?

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro sold 81,299, whereas the 2010 Ford Mustang sold just 73,716, that’s a difference of 7,583. There were signs that General Motors were taking the fight to Ford in a scale much larger than before, this was ever since they redesigned the Camaro back in 2009.

This fight in the muscle-car market has been good for both Detroit automakers, but not for the Obama administration, as Keith Naughton from Bloomberg points to the fact that they have been wanting to steer American’s away from such cars and persuade them to go for more fuel- efficient vehicles.

According to an article on Daily Morning News sales were down for both the Mustang and the Camaro by 16 and 26 percent respectively. I am no genius, but one would presume that this had something to do with the build-up to the holiday season. However, they might have decided to wait for the Convertible version, which was on being displayed at the 2010 LA Auto Show back in November? Which of the two muscle cars would you now choose, please let us know below?

The 2010 LA Auto Show has been getting into its stride, earlier we covered details on a few concept vehicles from the event, now we have something more special, the new Chevrolet Camaro convertible, which was announced on Facebook back in April. We know that the concept vehicles look cool, but at least we know that the Chevy retro muscle car is obtainable.

Chevrolet has high hopes for this new model, not just the convertible, but the coupe version as well, as they aim to take the fight to the Ford Mustang. The roofless version will have all the same trim levels as the coupe versions, these include: LS, LT, and SS.

For those who are conscious on how much fuel they burn, then you should pick the first two models with their 3.6-liter V-6 engine. However, those who want more grunt can go for the SS with its 6.2-liter V-8 powerplant.

The upcoming 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will start at $29,150, the standard coupe version is just $22,680 – a lot more money for less car. The new Chevy will go on sale from February 2011.
