The Chevrolet Enjoy has just been launched in India, and will be in direct competition with the Maruti Ertiga. This has now caused a dilemma for those looking to purchase a new MPV, do you go for value because the former undercuts the latter, or do you choose trust, as the Ertiga is a trusted multi-purpose vehicle in the Indian market?

The first thing drivers consider is looks, and the Ertiga takes the first round, but was this really a surprise when you consider corners had to be cut with the Enjoy because its cheap price. Although, it’s worth pointing out that making an MPV look sleek and sexy is not an easy thing to do. Having said that, the Enjoy looks far more like a van than the Ertiga.

Comfort is next on the list and we’re pleased to say that the cheaper Chevrolet Enjoy has the edge, this is because it has just that bit more space, which is thanks to its boxy exterior. Although, it’s worth noting that neither vehicle has a decent cargo space.

While power and performance is not as important in the Indian market as it is in the US, both the Chevrolet Enjoy and Maruti Ertiga still need to keep up with the traffic. It’s hard to choose between the two, as they have various engines, so this round will come down to personal preference.

You would think that the more expensive Ertiga would have the edge in terms of features, but the Enjoy holds its own against its rival. Both have their good and bad points, so this round will have to be a draw, well that’s according to a recent review of both vehicles.

We cannot help admire the comeback that General Motors has made since filing for bankruptcy a few years ago, this was not only due to some clever management decisions, but also some well-timed vehicle releases as well, the latest being the 2014 Chevy Silverado.

The pickup is big business for GM, and the imminent 2014 Chevy Silverado release date as well as the GMC Sierra is certain to have a positive outcome for the company. Production for both vehicles is now well underway, and while it has started slow, the company will ramp up production in the not too distant future.

Sales of pickups have increased by at least 20 percent in the US, so GM is certainly taking advantage of this new trend, what a difference four years make. It could not be a better time for the launch of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, and although the former will have the limelight for a while, it could be short-lived because of the impending F-Series, which is to get a totally new revamp.

General Motors understands that when it comes to selling their new Silverado they will need to rely on more than the vehicle itself, and so will need to be tactical. The way they plan to do this is by going after those who will want the new pickup more, and so more than half of its initial production is earmarked for dealers in Texas.

Tomorrow is the day the 2013 New York Auto Show opens its doors, but as always the press have managed to get an early look at most of the cars. As you would imagine there are already a few stand out models, such as the all-new Range Rover Sport, and the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, which seems to have overshadowed the Camaro SS.

The Chevy Camaro Z/28 has certainly been worth the wait when you look at its credentials, such as the sound of thunder that is the small and light 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine, which will deliver around 500 horsepower. It’s not the most powerful of the engine type, but what are 80 horses between friends?

However, as an added benefit weight has been reduced by 300 pounds overall, which helps the power-to-weight ratio and handling. The team behind designing the car has also managed to make the car more fuel-efficient, as well as being faster at the same time, which to us a great feat. As we mentioned earlier, we cannot help but feel a little sorry for the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS, as people seem to have forgotten about the muscle car already. It’s a shame because this car still packs a punch with its 6.2-liter V8 426 horsepower producing engine, along with its very impressive 1LE handling package, allowing the vehicle to go much faster round a track.

We find it strange how the Z/28 is said to be faster than the SS, when it was the other way around back in the day? Given the choice of the two, which would you rather and why?

We’re starting to lose count of the number of car recalls there has been since we entered 2013, and there could be another one to add to that ever-growing list. The NHTSA looks set to expend the list of General Motors recalls by a million units, which could include the Chevrolet Malibu and Saturn Aura models.

This would be an expansion of the 8,000 Pontiac G6 2005 models. However, this number could be increased to another 550,000 G6 models, and also an unknown amount of 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu and 2007-2009 Saturn Aura models.

The reason for this impending recall revision is because of faulty brake lamps, which may not illuminate when the driver puts his or her foot on the brake pedal. While this is not as serious as some of the other recalls we have mentioned this year, it is still a danger to other road users, and could cause them to hit the back of your vehicle as they would not have any warning that you were braking.

According to the Detroit Free Press the reason the Malibu and Aura might be added to the list is because there have been a total of 97 complaints that some of these models have the same issue as the Pontiac G6. While GM has said that there have been no accidents as a result of these faulty brake lamps, it surely must be a concern that they may have to issue a recall of a million vehicles?

With the 2013 New York Auto Show set to see several debuts, such as the all-new Range Rover Sport; there will also be the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro at the event. General Motors will have other vehicles on show for the first time, but it’s their muscle car that will surely get the most attention.

However, in order for the car to be a success changes need to be made, not only to the exterior but the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro interior is essential also. As you would imagine GM is playing things close to their chest, so we can only assume what those new performance and design upgrades will be.

Sadly we believe that the new Camero will only see a minor upgrade, but we should get to enjoy a few more horses under the hood. The reason we say this is because General Motors and Chevrolet are working on an all-new model, so it would be silly to make vast changes to the 2014 model.

There have been some spy photos of what could be the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, but we cannot be sure if this was the all-new model we spoke about earlier. The reason we emphasized on the interior is because it looks as though General Motors has let a child loose inside and allowed them to have the final creative decision.

It would be nice for the 2014 model to have an adult make a few decisions this time, although we fear this will not happen until the huge redesign of the Camaro. This is an ongoing thing when it comes to the interiors of American made vehicles, because they often look cheap when put next to their European counterparts.

The security of your vehicle is right up there with safety as well, because you want to know that if you leave your vehicle unattended it will be safe. It does make us laugh how these car manufactures spend millions in coming up with new security features to give you peace of mind, when you can allow someone to park your car for you and gain access to personal possessions or information stored within your car.

We are talking about when you go out for the evening and then hand your car over to the valet. The 2014 Chevrolet Impala now comes with a new privacy feature, which you can see above, where you no longer have to fear what the valet is looking into.

There is now a new mode on the system display called Valet Mode, and when activated will open a personal compartment so you can store your valuables, as well as locking out any personal details as well.

In order for anyone to gain access they will need to use a PIN code. This was not a huge issue several years ago, but now a huge number of new vehicles store your phone contact details, such as numbers and addresses. You’ll be pleased to know that this new security feature was first tested on consumers in Chevrolet car showrooms to see if it would be welcomed, and the availability of it in the new 2014 Chevrolet Impala is proof that it was well received.

We’re only a few days into the second month of the year and there have already been several auto recalls, which does seem to be a little alarming. The latest is a fresh round of GM recalls, which consists of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Malibu and can cause a range of issues. There are said to be just over 8,500 units affected by this recall.

Those Chevrolet Malibu’s affected were built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013. The reason behind the recall is due to the fact that several units could have been assembled incorrectly, such as not the right amount of torque applied when doing up bolts on the suspension. This could lead to several issues from just a minor noise being heard from losing control of the vehicle altogether.

This is a pretty new issue that was first noticed last December thanks to the GM test fleet – just glad it was noticed. It did not take them long to find the fault on the suspension cradle, although it’s worth noting that the assembly was from one of GM’s suppliers.

We’re still waiting for the NHTSA to announce an official recall, although this might not happen because it has only affected certain models and General Motors is already on top of the issue. We’re told that dealers will fix the problem with the Chevrolet Malibu free of charge, and from what we know should not take too long to rectify.

General Motors knows that if they have any hope of keeping that top spot in the pickup market then they will need to come up with the goods, and that’s just what they did when they unveiled the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, which we have to say does have an awe inspiring presence.

With the release of this new vehicle due in the summer you’ll be pleased to know that the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado configurator is now live, which as you would assume is a DIY specification utility, although it lacks pricing at this moment. This does not surprise us because Chevrolet won’t want to shock you with the price of these upgrades too far in advance, just in case you find an alternative vehicle.

There are also a few other spec options missing, but at least you can make trim level, engine and gearbox choices and so much more, which you can see for yourself on this microsite. One feature we do like is how you are able to email or print your personally designed 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, which you can then show your friends and even share it with them on Facebook etc.

Having looked over the configurator we can see that there is a choice of 7 different trim levels, choice of 2WD and 4WD, 5 bodystyles, 7 wheel types from 17 -18-inch rims and finally 10 exterior color choices.

Over the weekend we learned that GM had issued recalls for the 2013 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans, and at that time we had assumed that it only affected 65 of these vehicles in Canada because of an issue with the ignition. However, it seems as though that recall has been expanded to included 980 in the US.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration made the decision to recall these vans because some owners had experienced an issue with the ignition, where they could remove the key while the shifter was in any selection and not just park, this could mean that the affected vehicles could rollaway.

The recall is to start on January 23, and will see GM replace the ignition cylinder and also the keys to go with them. If you are worried about your 2013 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana built between November and December then you should either contact GM on 1-866-996-9463, Chevrolet on 1-800-630-2438 or call NHTSA on 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153).

Update: It would seem that this recall has been known since the 14th January 2013 but was not known by many. Because this is just a small recall (nothing like this one) it is easy to understand why it would just slip by unnoticed, but any problem with a vehicle that leads to a recall is always a cause for concern.
