Mass Save Rebate 2010: Cash In

Today is Earth Day 2010 and is also when Mass Save Great Appliance Exchange starts. Residents in Massachusetts will be able to get money of their new appliance when they cash in their old model. This is all part of the Cash for Appliances Program, the popular follow up to the Cash for Clunkers program.

However, you will not be able to get your saving of up to $250 from the store, you will have to wait for the state to give you that. You must claim your rebate voucher online by 10 a.m., and then you can go into a store and claim the money off your washer, refrigerator, dishwasher or other appliance.

According to wggb.com, there are only several thousand appliances that qualify for the rebate scheme. Stores will be offering their own discounts as well, such as Manny. For more details visit www.MassSave.com/GAX or call 1-877-MA-SWAP-1.

Texas Powerful Smart Appliance Rebate Program Details

The Texas Powerful Smart Appliance Rebate Program has now begun with reservations being accepted online or on the phone. The program begins today while the purchase period starting on April 16 to April 25 with more than $23 million up for grabs in federal funds.

According to texaspowerfulsmart.org, all appliances have to be purchased from any Texas retail location or contractor; we regret to tell you that online purchases are not permitted. Although the rebate period ends on April 25, this is only for certain items.

View list below:

Refrigerators
Freezers
Clothes washers
Dishwashers
Room Air Conditioners

Other items will end 60 days after the start period, these include:

Central Air Conditioners
Hot Water Heaters
Air-source Heat Pumps

We asked back in February if the U.S. Department of Energy should extend the cash for appliance program, we just hope that this is not the last appliance rebate program.

Cash For Appliances: Stimulus Program has $300 Million for States

As you may already know the government’s Cash for Appliances scheme has proven to be pretty popular, however once the $300 million allocation is up it may well come to an end.

Currently the government are offering a rebate of up to $250 when consumers purchase an energy-efficient appliance in place of an ‘old’ inefficient model.

Individual states are in control of how much consumers are rebated, therefore in some states the rebate can be far less than $250, the government have stated that when the $300 million budget has been used there will be no extension.

When the government ran the similar ‘Cash for Clunkers’ scheme last year the government extended the allocated budget, many Americans feel the same should happen with Cash for Appliances scheme.
