Toyota Prius Hybrid Car sales hit over 1 million: Surely this eases global warming

Toyota Prius Sales Top 1 Million
The demand for hybrid cars are increasing worldwide and with the Toyota Prius gasoline/hybrid car hitting sales of over I million worldwide this surely has to ease global warming. The Toyota Prius Hybrid is definitely a winner and we can see sales keep on going, Toyota have said the figure of Prius sales so far is 1,028,000 last month when their sales rocked 67 percent amid record gas prices and that also claims that the cars have eased global warming by producing around about 4.5 million tons less C02 when compared with gasoline-powered vehicles in the same class.

Even though Toyota have impressive sales figures it is said that Hybrids are still pretty low at 2.3 percent of the U.S market, we all know that in time people will dump their high guzzling gas motors for hybrids, hybrid sales have in fact at the moment rose 38 percent last year even as overall vehicle sales fell and we know with gas prices rising to very high costs Toyota are indeed having troubles keeping up with demands for the Prius.

Buyers are in fact paying much more for the Toyota Prius because they are hard to get a hold of and are getting much harder to find in showrooms, John Hanson a spokesman for Toyota said “Right now, U.S. customers can get a Prius. Next month or the month after that, it’s tough to say.”

With supplies falling and high demands from customers Toyota has cut incentives and raised prices (Now we knew that was coming) and the Toyota Prius on an average costs $25,274 which has risen $869 from a year ago. It seems that the Prius is in high demand and that is without a doubt because it is an eco-friendly vehicle and we all know that customers are going down the Hybrid road, Toyota has expanded their line to include the Highlander and Camry. Toyota are going to unveil the next generation model of the Prius at the Detroit auto show in January and it will apparently be cleaner, bigger and much more fuel efficient, they are also developing a plug-in version that could be in showrooms by 2010. Oh just so you know they are going down the convertible line as well, but no word on this yet.

If you are looking for a tough little car we would recommend the 2008 Smart Fortwo, the little Smart car gets highest rating in crash tests. The 2008 Smart Fortwo is the smallest car for sale in the U.S market and has gained a brilliant and of course highest rating for front end and side impact testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Ok so the car is safe at the front and side but what about the back? Opps did they forget about the back end. The Smart Fortwo’s head and seat restraints earned the second highest rating of acceptable for the protection against whiplash in rear impacts (Ah there it is, see I jumped to conclusions sorry.

Tiny Smart car gets highest rating in crash tests

IIHS spokesman Russ Rader said “The Smart engineers have done their homework, and. “They’ve designed safety into a very small package.” The Smart Fortwo has been classified as a micro car by the IIHS which means it is much smaller than say a Mini Cooper. Frontal ratings can’t be compared across weight classes, says the IIHS. Rader said if drivers decide to go with a small car they should research the standard equipment that comes with the vehicle. The Smart Fortwo features safety in mind thanks to the seat-mounted combination side airbags which are wisely designed to protect both chests and heads of the passenger and driver.

Anyway instead of boring you it is a simple as this – The 2008 Smart Fortwo IIHS crash tests proves high rating and is safe to drive. Please do watch the video below of the 2008 Smart Fortwo car going through some amazing crash tests.

Lexus IS 250 SE L front view
Yesterday I test drove the Lexus IS 250 SE L which is a car I never thought I would actually be interested in, being someone that has always been a BMW man Lexus has never entered my brain. My friend and myself was talking about this car quite a lot and yes was saying to him that it does not interest me in the slightest, but to ease his mind and knocking something before trying it decided I should really go and see what this car is all about.

The Lexus IS 250 SE L is a very nice car to look at indeed and if you like all the gizmos then you will have a smile from ear to ear, looking around at the car showroom we saw two different types of the Lexus IS 250 SE L and that was the manual and the automatic Read more

Do I put a Sony PS3 in my car or could it damage my game discs

Do I put a Sony PS3 in my car or could it damage my game discs
I have been watching Pimp my Ride for a few years now, and they really do go over the top when they pimp the cars. One thing that I have noticed when these cars are pimped is that they put a games console in the vehicles, and I have to say that I am thinking of doing the same.

The thing is I have a Sony PS3 and I would love to put it in my car as the kids could have some fun while we go on long car journeys. However I do worry that this could damage my game discs, surely they can take the bumps on the road, like a compact disc does.

Build a street legal solar-powered electric green car: SUNN Solar car kit video

SUNN Solar car kit
If you are a green energy saving environmentalist then you will love this new SUNN solar car kit.

You can now build your very own solar-powered electric green car that is street legal, the all new SUNN solar car kit from Art Haines is a great idea and we love it a lot. Ok the style, design and probably ride is totally rubbish but hey it is all good on the green front.

You can now build the SUNN solar car which has been DOT-approved; to build this electric car all you need is you basic hand tools.

The SUNN solar car kit once built will do 20 miles before the batteries give up on you and will hit a top speed of 35MPH; it has a plug outlet obviously for recharging. Considering the design I would personally say that $4,500 is a little bit steep and get this you do not get the batteries or solar panels. Watch the video below.

I would stick with the Electric Tara Tiny for only $2450.
