There are high hopes for Call of Juarez: The Cartel, but it seems that the game is set to disappoint, and it is the graphics that is to blame the most for this. We already discussed how the franchise was never about the graphics, so thought that we would take a look at some of the other areas of the game. In this analysis we will look at why the game lacks creativity.

The story is not perfect, as you are no longer on the lookout for gold. In a way to make things more interesting your life will now be about guns, drugs and money. The Cartel uses these three things to instill fear and power – much like is used in real life today then. The good part about this story is how you will have to try and stop the Cartel for partaking in these activities.

You will take control of one of three characters in this FPS and will have to perform a number of challenges. You have to use all three of these characters and make them work with each other in order to complete the goals that have been set out for you. We cannot see anything special here; only time will tell what players think.

One thing that will make the game better is with the different multiplayer modes. You will need to customize your chosen character to help you compete in a death match amongst others. To help yourself get further in the game you will need to unlock certain items, such as weapons etc. There is a choice of 18 maps where up to 12 players can participate.

It is not all bad though, as the game is more for the older player, and they will be able to move behind such issues. Take the graphics, this has not harmed Black Ops in any way, and we know how much the graphics got slated in that game. Ubisoft has taken a big risk with this game, as they have taken the best of the Wild West and tried to bring it to modern day. Only time will tell if they have achieved what they set out to do, view the video below and let us know what you think.

The video is of the first ten minutes gameplay; it is like watching a trailer from a blockbuster, as they seem to have packed enough action in the first ten minutes.

We have been keeping you up to date with progress regarding the upcoming Call of Juarez: The Cartel game by way of release date details, the latest trailers and even information involving a possible ban for Mexican gamers, but now we have the first look at multiplayer to show you, but you may want to hold back on the excitement factor.

The new game is being developed by Techland, with Ubisoft overseeing publishing duties in preparation for a release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 first on July 19th, then a PC version of the game will be made available for purchase and download via Steam as well.

Back to the issue at hand though, and after watching Techland’s unveiling of multiplayer gameplay for the first time on video, we have to say that we’re slightly disappointed at what we’re seeing. We’re well aware that previous Call of Juarez titles were not famed for their graphics, but as we enter this stage of a competitive industry as developers try and improve on graphics all the time, you would be forgiven for thinking that graphics for Call of Juarez: The Cartel would at least be up to scratch with competing first person shooters that are already available on the Xbox 360 and PS3 right now – but unfortunately, it isn’t the case here.

Instead we see a game which may be shot down over its poor graphics before Techland even has a chance to win gamers over with its solid gameplay, as if it plays anything like previous Call of Juarez games, we’re pretty confident that the game itself will be excellent, which is a sad state of affairs.

We understand that this may be coming across as very harsh despite the game isn’t even out yet, but if gamers are forking out $60 to play this title, there’s the other side of the argument which demands that gamers should be treated to decent graphics for their relevant console version, not a game which is comparable to Goldeneye on the N64 from a graphical point of view.

Saying that, we hope it does turn out like Goldeneye, as that means we’re in for one hell of a game in terms of actual gameplay, regardless of if the game looks visually impressive or not. We’re interested in hearing what you think about the graphics quality in Call of Juarez: The Cartel and if we should be making a big deal about this or not.

Is this title on your wishlist of games to buy next week when it releases for the Xbox 360 and PS3? Stay tuned for further feedback on the game as it hits shops on Tuesday.

We provided our readers with a number of new details for the upcoming Techland-developed Call of Juarez: The Cartel game last week, including the fact that players will not only have to co-operate with their team mates, but also compete against them.

As we mentioned in our previous article, this is something that the developer is calling ‘co-opetition.’ We now have some more interesting news as according to Sehran over at gamepur.com; a brand new trailer has just been released online that shows off the ‘co-opetition’ side to the game.

Although the team’s main objective is to work together in order to take down the Cartel leader Juan Mendoza, each of the three characters – Eddie Guerra, Kim Evans and Ben McCall – also have their own agendas such as loyalty, revenge and even debt.

As players progress through the game they will need to feed their character’s demons, which sometimes includes not going along with the team’s plans. The video shows us how the characters can receive their very own secret missions to complete such as stealing someone’s wallet.

The idea being that you can’t get caught by your team mates. Doing so will see you fail your secret mission. The Call of Juarez: The Cartel game will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Will you be buying it?

If the previous details, teaser trailer and information on the pre-order bonuses just weren’t enough to whet your appetite for the much-anticipated Call of Juarez: The Cartel game, then you’ll be pleased to know that even more details have been revealed during the E3 2011 event recently.

As Susan Arendt over on the escapistmagazine.com website recently noted, the Call of Juarez: The Cartel game not only sees players having to cooperate with their team mates, but it also has them competing against them as well. This is what the developers have called ‘co-opetition.’

Those of you that have read our previous articles will know that the upcoming game brings the Call of Juarez series into the modern day setting. The game features 3 main characters: LAPD officer Ben McCall (a descendant of the McCalls featured in earlier games), FBI agent Kim Evans and DEA agent Eddie Guerra.

Players can choose to either play the game solo with AI companions, or online with two of their friends. The team must work together in order to work their way through over a dozen missions. Each of the three characters has their own personal perspective and backstory.

What makes the game more interesting is the dirty little secrets that each of the three characters are hiding. For example, Kim lost her brothers to gang violence, while Eddie has a serious gambling problem. The obvious objective of all characters is to take down Cartel leader Juan Mendoza.

Depending on the character you choose to play the game with, you’ll receive a different set of objectives and challenges such as picking up a package or maybe meeting an informant on the quiet. The trick is that players have to perform these set tasks without their partners finding out.

Are you looking forward to the Call of Juarez: The Cartel game being released?

We’ve heard quite a bit about Techland and Ubisoft’s upcoming Call of Juarez: The Cartel game over the past few months, including details and a trailer, news about the possibility of the game being banned in Mexico and the developer’s plans for an upcoming demo.

What we haven’t heard any news on up until now however, is an idea of when the game will be released. That’s all about to change though, as according to a recent article over at gamebandits.com, a release date for the much-anticipated game has now been revealed.

The Call of Juarez: The Cartel game is due to arrive in stores on June 28th in the United States, and on July 1st in Europe. As most of you will already know, the western-themed first-person shooter game will be available for the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows.

The release date isn’t the only piece of information revealed about the upcoming recently either, as we’ve also got news on the pre-order bonuses. Those who pre-order the game from the official Ubisoft Online Store will receive a redemption code, which unlocks 2 exclusive in-game weapons.

According to Kev J at electronictheatre.co.uk, this includes a select-fire 9x19mm Parabellum caliber machine pistol with a silencer, and a 9x19mm Parabellum caliber semi-automatic pistol with an extra zoom. Are you looking forward to the upcoming Call of Juarez: The Cartel game?

A few weeks ago we provided our readers with a trailer and a few more details for the much anticipated Call of Juarez: The Cartel game. We now have a bit more good news for those of you that are waiting for the first-person shooter game to arrive, as the developer has just revealed its demo plans.

However, Techland International’s Brand Manager Blazej Krakowiak could not reveal whether the forthcoming demo – which according to a recent article by Sal Romano over on the scrawlfx.com website is more than likely going to be a cop-op demo – would arrive before or after the game’s release.

When asked what the developer’s goal is with the Call of Juarez: The Cartel game as far as the franchise is concerned, Krakowiak said that choosing the modern day was something new that they wanted to do with the series. He then continued on to say that they may well return to the traditional Wild West.

Another interesting question that Krakowiak was asked was whether the co-op gameplay would just be for online or possibly played together locally. Although he couldn’t exactly explain the reasons, Blazej Krakowiak did reveal that the co-op gameplay would in fact be limited to online only.

Are you looking forward to the Call of Juarez: The Cartel game?

We have some exciting news now for those of you that are waiting for the much-anticipated Call of Juarez: The Cartel game – which as previously mentioned (here) is now set in modern day – to be released, as a few more details and a trailer have now been unveiled.

As Steven Williamson over at gaming.hexus.net recently reported, Call of Juarez: The Cartel is still classed as a western shooter game, but one that starts its story off with a drug cartel bombing a U.S law enforcement agency and killing hundreds of people in the process.

The United States then creates a special task force, whose mission is to hunt down and stop the drug cartel. The three members of the special task force are DEA agent Eddie Guerra, brutal LAPD detective Ben McCall and Kim Evans, a gang-affiliated street kid who’s now an FBI agent.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel features a three-player online co-op mode, which will enable gamers to play together as a team and take on the roles of the game’s 3 main characters. You can also play the game individually with each member, who will all have their own separate story and ending.

A huge selection of weapons has been promised for the Call of Juarez: The Cartel game including sniper rifles, machine guns and pistols. The game, which may well be banned in Mexico, also provides gamers with a wide variety of missions such as car chases, witness protection and undercover.

The game is due for release sometime this summer, and will be available for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. You can view the trailer below this post. What do you think of the Call of Juarez: The Cartel game?

Ubisoft forthcoming game Call of Juarez: The Cartel is causing some controversy before it’s even released, with the Chihuahua state legislators seeking the game to be banned.

Gilbert Lansing of the US News Source is reporting that the move was unanimously approved, and federal authorities have been asked to ban the game. The games developer Ubisoft has been promoting the game with the slogan “Take justice into your own hands and experience the lawlessness of the modern Wild West”. The game is due for release sometime in the summer.

Ciudad Juarez where the game is based saw around 6,000 people killed during 2009 and 2010 in drug related violence. State congress leader Enrique Serrano said “Children wind up being easily involved in criminal acts”. He is worried what they watch on television and video games they might be exposed too.

Andy Chalk of The Escapist is reporting that police in Texas are also unhappy about the game. They are worried that it will push some teenagers into the lifestyle by glorifying the drug related violence. Police Chief Carlos Garcia added “companies are looking to capitalize on the violent situation in Mexico”.

Ciudad Juarez has a death rate of around eight people every day, making it one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Violence has even moved over into the US in the Texas City of El Paso, since the start of 2010 at least forty people have been killed.

What do you think, should the game be banned?
