A tweet was sent on Twitter from Infinity Ward saying: “The latest Modern Warfare 2 patch, to address hacking, will release on Playstation 3 worldwide on March 8th. Xbox 360 and PC release pending”, these clear signs from the developers show a fierce and reluctant continuation to keep their award-winning game franchise clean and enjoyable for the majority of players.

Modern Warfare 2 was released globally on November 10th 2009 and we are hearing that Modern Warfare 3 will be released in November this year, do you think that game’s need more beta testing before release, remember the Javelin glitch and infinite care packages?

Whilst they made this statement, citing data from NPD, ChartTrack and Gfk, they did not reveal specific sales figures for the PS3 version. The announcement came as they got ready to unleash the First Strike DLC, which is now available on the PlayStation Network.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 comes in after Metal Gear Solid 4 in the best selling rankings, but ties in with next-in-line best-seller Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops was released in November 2010, it made history by becoming the best seller for five-day openings worldwide through dollars, totalling up to over $650 million.

It is no surprise that Call of Duty: Black Ops is sitting on top comfortably ahead of its nearest rival, Gran Turismo 5, but do you think it deserves to be there?

We wouldn’t usually comment on things like this, but we know you’ll want to have your say on this, particularly since the airport scene featured in Modern Warfare 2 came under criticism in the first place.

Is it really fair though to compare a real-life situation with a video game? Because in reality, it is just that – a game. Yes, gamers are given the option to gun down civilians in a barbaric fashion during the game, but that doesn’t mean that what occured earlier this week at the Moscow airport is in any way influenced by Modern Warfare 2.

Activision are yet to respond to the report by Russia Today, but we have a feeling they’ll be making their thoughts heard soon. The report even suggests that terrorist groups use Modern Warfare 2 to ‘train’, which again is a pretty bold statement. From what we can see the tool called Phenom Booter basically located rival players’ IP addresses, therefore if a certain player was doing well or annoying someone who had access to the tool they could be easily kicked from a game, the tool used ARP poisoning to attack a network, you can find out more about ARP poisoning here.

A 17 year old has been arrested for selling the tool on a forum and it is likely that he will be charged with offences under the Computer Misuse Act, apparently the problem caught Activision’s attention, therefore it sounds as if the tool was becoming pretty widespread.

I must admit I was kicked from games of Modern Warfare 2 in quite weird circumstances a few times, however it could just be a coincidence and wasn’t the result of a tool like Phenom Booter, especially in games of Search of Destroy.

This is the first time that a person has ever been arrested in the UK for an alleged online gaming offence, personally I think it is great that action is being taken against such users, I just wish there was a more affective way of reporting abusive players, as I think that some gamers know that they can say what they want without any repercussions.

Players View – I guess there is no place to draw the line here. Players are so used to the magnificence of Modern Warfare 2 that they think that the overall gameplay and graphics of Black Ops lets it down somewhat. This along with certain multiplayer issues (PS3 and Xbox 360) has probably plagued the release of Black Ops, but this does not mean you still won’t play it.

Professionals & Critics View – The game has received high praise from a large majority of people ‘higher-up’ in the gaming industry, and this is mostly down to the incredible story line that comes with Black Ops. The memorable characters and Cold War storyline, plus a Zombie onslaught has brought something different to a FPS, something that really has not been done before.

Personally, I don’t think we can blame Infinity Ward or Treyarch for the problems that have become apparent. Activision took the choice to employ to separate companies for different outings of the game. Giving them alternating years in which they would release a Call of Duty game. As said by the Wall Street Journal, they think it is a lot like Disney releasing Toy Story 2, and Toy Story 3 with different creators for each film. Read the full article here.

Lets be honest here, the game has certainly not been everyone’s cup of tea. Some love it, some hate it. It was never going to be a smooth ride for Activision and Treyarch, especially after the shenanigans Modern Warfare 2 caused upon it’s release.

On top of this, a similar game — Medal of Honor 2010 also got a kick in the teeth when gamers found out that you could play the part of the Taliban.

Regardless, Cuba have gone on the defensive and have been angered by one of the games missions in which you try and assassinate the Cuban leader Castro.

In the article, Cuban authorities claim that the United States are trying to “accomplish” something that haven’t managed to do in 50 years, and due to this, they are now “trying to do virtually,” according to an article on AP.

In all, I think I do sympathise with what Cuba are trying to say, but I also think they are taking the matter too far. What Black Ops is trying to do is emulate that of historic and past events to bring more realism into a military shooter, and provide entertainment to the player, nothing else.

From AK-47′s to a Laser Emitter. Medal of Honor 2010 has 51 weapons ranging from hand guns, assault rifles, machine guns, launchers, explosive devices and melee weapons.

The subtle, yet powerful when up close Tactical Knife is not a matter of choice, but sometimes the matter of life or death when it comes to multiplayer. But if that is not your thing, you can always go to the RPG-7, a Russian widely-produced shoulder launching, anti tank grenade weapon that will splatter your enemies from distance.

Whatever you choose, all 51 weapons have their strong points which also depend on positioning and the wherebouts of the enemy, also taking personal tactics and preferences in to consideration.

One of the many reasons they are bringing dedicated servers back is due to the fact that they value the PC platform very highly, as “we are a PC developer” Cesar Statsny, head of PC development for Treyarch said.

“We had dedicated servers in our last title, we had planned on dedicated servers for our subsequent title all along, so we haven’t actually wavered on that at all.

Statsny goes on to say that he believes the studio are making a “true PC title” and that it is “really important for the studio,” especially as they want to support the PC community as much as possible.

Stastny also said that mod-tools are undoubtedly going to play a major part post-release, a date which could not be confirmed at this time.

So good news all around for PC players, dedicated servers, mod-tools, and 110% commitment to the player base meaning that maybe the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions would be taking a back seat in this release, but i’m sure that they will be as popular if not more. Only time will tell.

It was only a matter of time before this sort of thing was implemented into Halo, after seeing much of the success (or failure) that hackers had on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by implementing all sorts of glitches and hacks that let’s say, hugely angered honest COD players.

In the video that we have provided you below thanks to GameCrashers.net, you will see the player shooting almost aimlessly and getting head shot, after head shot, after head shot, and then proceeding to go on a frenzied rage of an almost kill-pocalyptic killing spree. And yes, he also does this by shooting nowhere near the region of the enemy that you should be shooting to get a registered kill.

If this hack/glitch/whatever it is makes it out into the mainstream, think Halo Reach as almost dead – unless that is Microsoft bring down the banhammer to all players using it. I guess one good thing so far is that it is not public knowledge how to implement this hack (at time of writing).
