No, there is not a new vehicle that is about to take that crown away from the small Indian car; instead there is to be an even more expensive model. The shock is that it will cost more than a Bugatti Veyron.

The Tata Nano will cost about $2,500 in India and a new updated version is heading stateside for around $7,000. However, there is to be a special edition that will set you back a cool $4.6 million. So what will that extra few dollars give you? Well, as you would expect it has been encrusted with precious gems and gold to help celebrate the Gold Plus stores 5,000th anniversary, which Tata has gone into collaboration with for this project.

The powertrain would have had to be upgraded so that it can cope with the extra weight from the 22 karat gold, which weighs in at a staggering 176 pounds. There is also another 33 pounds of silver and 10,000 gems to dazzle anyone that dares come close to you. For the life of us we cannot think of anyone who would want to own such a motor, you will just be bringing even more attention to a car that is associated with cheapness?

You have to admire Tata as a company, because not only have they been able to corner a market because of them having the cheapest production car on the planet, but also the fact that they can also make it one of the most expensive as well. The Zenvo ST1 50S has two things going for it when compared to the Volkswagen made vehicle, and that is its power. The former offers 1250HP, while the latter can only muster 1184 horsepower.

However, it is not all about how powerful the engine is, that is only part of it – so does the new ST1 have what it takes? Now the one thing that has been sticking in my mind is how this new version is $575,000 more than the current ST1. Cannot see that you are paying all that extra cash just for the sake of a Zenvo Aspen watch, which will be given to you with your supercar purchase.

The Zenvo ST1 50S is a special edition model for the U.S. market only, and we all know how they love that loud grunt from the engine. Speaking of the engine, what you get is a 7.0-liter V8, which has twin turbochargers mounted to it. The roar will be loud, but let us hope that it will be a whimper if the Veyron manages to fly right by.

The price of the Zenvo ST1 50S is expected to be $1.8 million, which seem very cheap when compared to $2.4 million for the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. According to World Car Fans the top speed of the new ST1 is 375kph, which is 233mph, which is 20mph slower than the SS.

The new 2014 model will be made up of more carbon-composite material than the existing model, and as you would imagine Volkswagen will make it more powerful and lighter – at a price that is.

Auto Express has a render of what they believe the 2014 Veyron will look like, and you can clearly see that the basic shape has been kept. When you have a car that has been designed to go over 250mph, you know that you are almost at the limits with aerodynamics – well for road going cars anyway.

The former head of Bentley and Bugatti has been telling Auto Express that the next Veyron Supercar will be an evolution of the 1999 design; so we can expect to see some subtle changes here and there. However, it is the technology of the materials that will change the most.

Along with a much lighter frame you can expect to see the same 8.0-liter W16 engine with its quad-turbo system, but this power will then be channeled through a newly revised seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Add all this together and you will have a $1.6 million car that will hit 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 270mph, which is just faster than the 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

If you are looking for something just a little different, then there is also a 2014 Bugatti Royale planned. The rumors of such a car has certainly intensified over the past few weeks, but ConsumerGuide Automotive warns that this is all you speculation at the moment, and uncertain if it will ever make it out of the concept stage.

So would you be very surprised by the fact that a car going 55mph or 88kph would have set a world record? Well that is just what the Sunwift IVy solar car has done by setting the solar powered record.

The previous record was set back in 1987, which achieved a speed of 49 mph or 79kph. You have to wonder how come it has taken so long to try and beat this record and in 33 years have only beat it by 6mph? Technology has come a long way in that time, so how come the result seems to look bad?

We are not experts here, but surly solar technology, aerodynamics and friction from the wheel to the road has changed more than this result shows? However, in a recent Cleantechnica article they do state that all the batteries were removed and was just sustained by silicon solar cells themselves – the 55mph speed seems to be a great achievement after all.

Sunswift has a number of FAQs, and one of the questions was why it had taken the record so long to be broke? The answer was interesting, as they said that no one else had tried – well that answers y rant from above as well.

We now seem to be going through a stage where more tests are being done on solar powered vehicles and craft, you only have to look at the recent Solar Plane Impulse test to understand just what we mean.

I have since grown up and now realize what a shocking supercar it really was – not practical and had terrible fuel-economy. However, now that I am almost 39 I can understand what makes a great car and looking at the top 10 list of the fastest cars of 2010 -2011 there are none that do not deserve to be there.

As you will know these cars in the list are measured only by their top speed, so the no.1 might not have the fastest acceleration, but it will have a greater top end. The two fastest cars have been trading punches for some time now – that’s right we are talking about the Bugatti Veyron and the SSC Ultimate Aero. However, the former has just taken the top spot with the Super Sport (SS) version, which has a top speed of 267mph. You can see a top gear video of this in our recent post.

The former winner, which we mentioned above was the SSC Ultimate Aero, it has a top speed of 257 mph, and a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds – which we have to say is still very fast indeed. The third fastest car is the Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo, it has a top speed of 248mph and a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds. The other seven remaining fastest cars of this year are as follows: Koenigsegg CCX, McLaren F1, Ferrari Enzo, Jaguar XJ220, Pagani Zonda F, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640: and finally the Porsche Carrera GT. You can see these cars in action for yourself with the video that we have embedded for you below. However, I did notice on the video that they have got number two and one mixed up, they have the standard Veyron at number two, but we all know that the SS version of that car is the true number one. There have been other cars that have taken the crown as the fastest production car – but can you say they were as sexy and as nice to drive as the Veyron?

We recently reported that Bugatti made their baby even better with the 2011 Super Sport edition, and Rex Roy from Autoblog has done what most of us could only dream of – test drive the machine. The first thing you need to know is just how hard it must have been for him to drive the car, as it costs a staggering $2.58 million.

For that you get a car that offers 1001-horsepower and just like a child Roy thought that he would test all those horses. His first test drive seemed like an awesome one, he hit over 300kph (186.4 mph) on his first run and points to the fact that in one power curve it was like an F-18 on afterburners. I wonder why he did not want to hit its top speed – 267.81mph?

I have watched many episodes of Top Gear (UK Version) and have seen how elegant the Veyron is, it is not like a white-knuckle ride like most super cars, and it is for this reason why the car will always be a favorite of mine. If I could have two cars in my garage it would be this and the McLaren F1.

Cars come in a range of different styles and price ranges; two of the most extremes are Most Expensive Cars and Weirdest Cars. So let us jog your memory a bit and have a look at a view models that fit these profiles.

The last time when checked, the most expensive car was the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. This car costs $2.5 million and can reach a top speed of 267.81 mph.

Next on the list is the Koenigsegg CCXR, which costs a staggering $2,173,950. This may not be the fastest production car, but it does not lack in style. However, a 0-to-60mph time of 2.9 seconds and top speed of 250 mph is still very impressive.

Now for the fun part the world’s weirdest cars. Choosing the strangest cars will come down to personal preference, so here is a few that I think qualify. The first is the Tubular Car, which you can see here. I do hope that those are not metal tubes sticking out, would not like to get hit by that?

Another weird car is the Cat Car. This pink and white cat looks as though it is ready to pounce; maybe it is waiting for the Mouse Car? See both them vehicles here as well.

The Veyron currently has a top speed of 267.81 mph, but that is something for a Sunday driver when compared to a car that was designed to go more than 800mph.

What we have here is the jet-powered car that was developed by the late Steve Fossett in the hope of breaking the land-speed record. There is now the chance for you to own this and have a go at breaking the record yourself.

There is the small issue of $3 million though, but worth the money if you have any plans to break any records. This is not a bad deal when you consider that the Veyron will cost you $2,635,000 for the Super Sport version.

According to Jason Paur from Autopia a General Electric J-79 turbojet engine powers the vehicle, and it is assumed that the 18,400 pounds of thrust could potentially propel you to more than 900mph, but that’s using the afterburner as well.

Yes it is faster and more expensive than the original model, but it still lacks that special something. The same cannot be said about the Mansory Linea Vincero d’Oro, which has to be the ultimate version yet.

You can see from the number of images available on Autoblog that the Bugatti Veyron has received a facelift, the LINEA Vincerò has enhanced fenders and the hood has been shortened. The lights on the vehicle are now LED, which seems to add that something special to the car.

The sideskirts have also been remodelled, as to offer a more stunning look. To give the engine optimal cooling, Mansory has created larger air outlets to the side and rear of the Veyron. The diffuser has also had some work done, as to help with the handling of the car.

A huge proportion of the car is now made from carbon, which helps with the cars strength and keeps the weight down. Mansory has only created one model, but will modify your existing Bugatti Veyron with all the upgrades. Autoblog has the full press release with all the details.

BBC’s Top Gear, which aired on Sunday showed us this taking place, but it was Stig’s track time that we was all interested in.

The original Bugatti Veyron was not the fastest car on the Top Gear test track, so the SS version was brought in to put that extra grunt to good use. Looking at the video below you can that the Veyron Super Sport is glued to the track, so was certain to post a good time.

We can tell you that the new version of this ultimate car set the fastest time around the track, but we are certain that other cars will try and take both crowns. In time this will happen, but surly not anytime soon.

Did you watch last Sunday’s episode? Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were on the show and were the stars in the reasonable priced car. The BBC has been asked a few awkward questions, as they both set the fastest time of anyone. Did you think it was a fix?
