We have some good news for Borderland 2 fans, as it looks like fresh content is on the way to the game soon. Borderlands 2 has been out since September 2012, but we have already seen good support from developers Gearbox comprising of four pieces of add-on content that is available via a season pass.

While some of you may already be thinking of a future Borderlands game for next-gen consoles, Gearbox has sent out the message that they are still planning to support Borderlands 2 for quite a while yet. A teaser video was released at the recent SXSW 2013 event, showing that the Borderlands 2 Vault Hunter character DLC will be the next release for the game.

The video doesn’t show a lot, but it does suggest that the character will be melee based which will please a lot of you. You can check out the brief footage above for yourself and see how the audience were pleased after watching it live for the first time. Although gamers may have not been impressed by Aliens Colonial Marines from Gearbox, it’s fair to say that the Borderlands franchise has a huge following so it is only a matter of time before we see the next game on next-gen consoles.

How excited are you though that a sixth Vault Hunter is coming to the game? Are you still playing the game regularly or has interest started to die out a little? Unfortunately Gearbox hasn’t given any kind of information on when the new content will be out.

With E3 2013 approaching though, we’d like to think that we will at least see some proper gameplay of the new Vault Hunter character by then. Watch the clip above and let us know if you are a big Borderlands 2 fan. Would you rather see another Aliens game from Gearbox or a brand new next-gen Borderlands game?

Borderlands 2 on PS Vita status update http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/09/14/borderlands-2-on-ps-vita-status-update/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/09/14/borderlands-2-on-ps-vita-status-update/#comments Fri, 14 Sep 2012 05:48:04 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=152937 Borderlands 2 is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC soon, but there still remains a high request to bring Borderlands 2 to the PS Vita handheld. The good news is that developers Gearbox support this idea, but the bad news is that they need Sony’s help to make this a reality.

There is no doubt that Borderlands 2 is going to end up a huge success on console, especially if it follows on from the excellent first game, which was a something of a secret weapon for Gearbox – a far contrast to what happened with Duke Nukem Forever.

Randy Pitchford, company CEO has again expressed his desire to have a Borderlands 2 game on the Vita, but has now formally requested Sony for assistance in making his happen. Surprisingly, he has stated that he is even willing for Sony to develop the game with his blessing, since he currently ‘has no time’ to handle the project himself with so many commitments to fulfill regarding the console and PC versions.

Even more exciting for Vita owners, is that Pitchford is also willing to explore the possibilities of cross-platform play with the PS3 version, in a scenario where Vita owners could pick up and play from a PS3 cloud save. We’ve seen in the past though so many times that handing the franchise off to another developer doesn’t always pay dividends for the original company.

A classic example can be seen in the upcoming version of Black Ops: Declassified for the PS Vita, which is essentially a toned down version of the original console and PC game. Rather than get original developers Treyarch to handle the project, Activision has instead asked Resistance Burning Skies developer Nihilistic to oversee the project – a move that not many Vita owners are happy about.

Are you worried that the same fate may happen to Borderlands 2 on the Vita if Gearbox do not develop the game themselves? Let us know if you would like to see the game on handheld or not.

Borderlands 2: More game details unveiled http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/08/09/borderlands-2-more-game-details-unveiled/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/08/09/borderlands-2-more-game-details-unveiled/#comments Tue, 09 Aug 2011 11:45:28 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=138703 We first heard rumors about the possibility of a Borderlands 2 game back in April this year, when the game was spotted on a game developer’s online CV. However, up until recently there had been no confirmation. That all changed last week, as both 2K Games and Gearbox Software officially confirmed that the Borderlands 2 game was indeed in development.

Now we have even more good news for fans of the Borderlands series, as according to Nicholas Davies over at devicemag.com, more game details have now been unveiled courtesy of the latest issue of the Game Informer magazine. Although the developer is keeping some of the elements of the original game, they have made quite a few changes for Borderlands 2.

For example, the original ‘Vault Hunters’ will no longer be playable characters in the Borderlands 2 game, and will now be replaced by four brand new faces. However, the original cast will still be featured in the game as support NPCs. The Borderlands 2 game will also feature a different variety of vehicles, with one of them being a Bandit Technical.

Speaking of vehicles, Gearbox Software wants to make four seating as standard in order to accommodate four-player co-op parties. According to Matthew DeCarlo at techspot.com, one of the brand new characters is a bearded dwarf named Salvador, who has the ability to dual-wield any 2 weapons. Borderlands 2 will also feature a new elemental item called Eridium.

Players will be able to use Eridium to enhance their weapons, which can now have custom decals and enhancements. Each weapon manufacturer will also have its own visual styling / theme to enable players to easily identify the weapon’s manufacturer. This of course means that no two manufacturers will have the same looking guns.

The enemies in the Borderlands 2 game will also be more responsive, and interact with each other a lot better. Players will also discover that bandits will now have their own brand of weaponry in Borderlands 2, and the NPCs will be fully animated and be able to move around their locations, as well as interact with objects within their locations.

Are you looking forward to the Borderlands 2 game?

Borderlands 2 confirmed by Gearbox Software and 2K Games http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/08/03/borderlands-2-all-but-confirmed-by-gearbox-software-and-2k-games/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/08/03/borderlands-2-all-but-confirmed-by-gearbox-software-and-2k-games/#comments Wed, 03 Aug 2011 17:06:08 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=138290 For those of you who have been watching the rumours regarding a possible Borderlands 2 release sometime in the near future, we can confirm that this latest rumor is true as sources close to certain games websites such as Eurogamer and GameInformer have been told it is in development.

Although no official confirmation has been released by 2k Games or Gearbox Software, we expect that an announcement that confirms the games existence will be revealed soon.

The first news that we heard about Borderlands 2 came in April, when Borderlands 2 was spotted on a game developers online CV. Previously, we also had unofficial confirmation that Randy Pitchford was going to work on a new game. Whether or not this was Borederlands 2 or not, we don’t know. But Pitchford did mention that he intended on re-visting the franchise at some point.

On top of the news, GameInformer have gone all out by featuring Borderlands 2 on their September issue magazine. The feature contains 12 full pages of supposed screenshots and exclusive details from Borderlands 2, with a bunch of improvements that the developers have in store for us when we take our long awaited trip back to Pandora.

The original Borderlands. which debuted on Wndows based machines, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 went on to recieve critical acclaim with all scores in the 80′s (out of 100) or in some cases 4s and 4.5s (out of 5) depending on what review you chose to read. Borderlands also went on to recieve the Xbox 360′s Game of the Year award at RPGLand and also named Runner-up for overall Game of the Year.

So with no official announcement yet from 2k Games, but more of an announcement regarding a future announcement of Borderlands 2, we can take it that the game is all but confirmed. If indeed it does come to fruition, will you be looking forward to Borderlands 2?

Update: Just as we were about to publish this post we heard official confirmation that the game was official!

Borderlands 2 Release Date: GDC or E3 Announcement http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/10/borderlands-2-release-date-gdc-or-e3-announcement/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/10/borderlands-2-release-date-gdc-or-e3-announcement/#comments Thu, 10 Feb 2011 11:18:05 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=121486 Rumors of Borderlands 2 have been kicking around for some time now, but it now looks as though we have had the first piece of confirmation thanks to a recent interview with Randy Pitchford. In the interview with VG247, the CEO of Gearbox Software said that he has work to do on the new game.

This is not an official announcement of any kind, but it does seem that all the months of denying development of Borderlands 2 was just to take us of the scent. Now one-question remains, when is the release date? THDRoom believes that we could find this out at either GDC or E3; the former is not that long away at all.

When Borderlands was launched back in 2009 there was no denying how successful it was, and since then there has been all this speculation of a sequel, and hopefully the developer will give fans what they want. Since its launch there have been a number of add-ons, such as the Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution DLC. Let us hope that they have taken their time on this, as we do not want the new version to spoil the original.

Yesterday was certainly a day for Borderlands, as Xbox Gaming announced that the two year-old game has now been made available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace in South Africa for a R169, this same version was made available in the States last summer. Wonder how long it will be before the sequel makes it online?
