If you are looking forward to the release of the Elder Scrolls Online game this year, you are definitely going to enjoy the latest gameplay video that we have to show you. ZeniMax Online Studios are developing the game and they have unveiled some of the gathering and exploration features in the game – including the return of one famous plant from Skyrim and Oblivion.

Elder Scrolls Online is due out on PC before the end of the year, but Bethesda has yet to announce an exact release date for when the game will be available – perhaps this information will be coming during E3 2013 though next month.

For now, we have seen frequent teaser trailers released in the meantime and this latest one is titled Gathering and Exploration. We see some very familiar looting aspects as what you would have experienced in Skyrim and Oblivion, while also there’s confirmation that lockpicking will return, as well as the famous Nirnroot plant too.

elder-scrolls-online-nirnroots

The Nirnroot is a special plant in the Elder Scrolls universe, often granting the player some exclusive time duration skills once mixed using Alchemy. Gathering Nirnroots are often part of a special task as well, so it will be interesting to see what type of quests users will get when finding the plant scattered around the different regions.

You’ll notice that the lockpicking mechanism in Elder Scrolls Online will be different to the one seen in Skyrim. It also looks more tricky to open locks, which will please a lot you who were complaining that it was too easy in Skyrim.

Watch the video above and you’ll see that it is essentially a continuation of everything that you loved in Skyrim. The key debate will come when Bethesda finally announces subscription fees. If you are interested in this game, tell us how much you would be willing to pay per month to play it.

We have some potentially disappointing news to bring you now, especially for the millions of gamers who are dying to see a Fallout 4 announcement this Summer. Bethesda has just announced a new Wolfenstein game this week of course, but we now hear that Fallout 4 may not be ready to show next month at all.

It is no secret that Fallout 4 rumors and hype have skyrocketed in the last few weeks, especially with the confirmation that Bethesda has officially ceased development on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. After the unveiling of The Evil Within by the publisher, many gamers had expected Fallout 4 to be next in line for the reveal treatment.

Instead though, Wolfenstein: The New Order is now on the way from Machine Games, leaving some to wonder whether Fallout 4 really is going to be ready for a 2013, or even early 2014 release. With that in mind, NoobFeed are claiming that Bethesda won’t be showing Fallout 4 at this year’s E3 2013 event.

They have apparently obtained a schedule of Bethesda’s participation at the event, revealing that only The Evil Within, Wolfenstein and The Elder Scrolls Online will be shown. They have also mentioned that out of these games, Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Elder Scrolls Online will be playable – suggesting that The Evil Within from Tango GameWorks isn’t ready in playable format just yet.

If this is indeed true, then should it considered a big blow that Fallout 4 won’t be at E3? Having said that, this could just be information related to Bethesda’s booth on the show floor, with all actual press conference appearances still a secret at this point. We still could see a Gabe Newell-style appearance from Bethesda at either Sony or Microsoft’s keynote, so we don’t think all Fallout 4 hope is lost just yet.

How bad do you want to see the game announced at E3? Are you happy to wait longer now, or does an announcement need to come this Summer to maintain your interest?

If you consider yourself to be an ‘old-school gamer’, there’s no doubt that you have probably already heard that Bethesda are bringing back the Wolfenstein franchise, with a new game called Wolfenstein: The New Order. The game is on the way this year by developer Machine Games, and we’ve just had confirmation that there will not be a multiplayer component.

This will be deemed as a great victory as well in many corners – staying true to the original formula of the classic games on PC. Who could forget Wolfenstein 3D back in 1992, followed by the excellent Return to Castle Wolfenstein in 2001 – truly some of the defining games that kicked off the popularity in the first-person genre.

Bethesda has decided to give the younger generation a history lesson, with Wolfenstein The New Order, which will be out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, along with next-gen platforms like the Sony PS4 and next Xbox console. In an interview this week, creative director Jens Matthies from Machine Games has revealed to GameSpot that they are not being tempted to put a multiplayer mode in the game for the sake of it.

wolfenstein-new-order-no-multiplayer

Instead, all resources are going to go on making the single-player campaign the best it can be – arguably the same decision that resulted in Bethesda being a huge winner with the single-player only Skyrim. The danger there though, will be the Call of Duty army who may not be interested in getting the game unless it comes with multiplayer.

Machine Games cannot please everyone though and we have a feeling that a lot of you will ultimately be happy with the move. Read the thoughts of the developer through the link and let us know if you welcome this or not. Should Wolfenstein: The New Order have multiplayer or not?

It looks like Bethesda are up to their old tricks again. The company recently unveiled The Evil Within with a series of social media teasers that got fans very excited prior to its official announcement. Bethesda are doing it once more, by releasing three images of a new mystery game that will be coming out soon. However, it has just been confirmed that it isn’t related to Fallout 4.

That is an obvious shame, as Fallout 4 seems to be the second most anticipated game in recent years after GTA V. Everywhere we read, fans are talking about Fallout 4 this, Fallout 4 that, which can only mean good news for Bethesda as anticipation and hype continues to reach fever pitch.

But if this new game isn’t Fallout 4 or a new Elder Scrolls game, then what is it? Speculation is now running wild once again and the leading candidates seem to be either a new Wolfenstein game or Prey 2. Bethesda initially unveiled this image over on Twitter, which has since been revealed in full over at GameSpot.

Bethesda has left a clue with each of the images, a solitary hashtag in the corner with the numbers ’1960′. Fans are now curious as to whether 1960 refers to part of the name of the mystery title, or indeed the era in which the game will take place – it could end up being both of course.

One of the images in particular appears to show some sort of weaponry, possibly some rocket shells or some sort of industrial machinery. Bethesda certainly knows how to tease fans and we could be finding out the answer to the secret at E3 in June. Take a look at the images for yourself and let us know your theories on them so far.

Are you disappointed that this is yet another game that is coming out before Fallout 4?

If you haven’t familiarized yourself with the highly anticipated Oculus Rift head-mounted-display yet, we have one video for you now that is surely going to interest you. The new virtual reality tech is still in early stages, but one developer has used an early pair to demonstrate what Skyrim looks like when hooked up with Oculus Rift.

Since this is a headset based product, you can’t see the full potential of what is on offer here in the video – you have to experience it first hand to really get an idea. It does however, give you a glimpse of what Oculus Rift can do, with the developer Chris Gallizzi able to walk within the worlds of Skyrim by moving around with the headset placed on his head.

The display technology then merges the two images that you see in the video, to create a new 3D image that the player will see when actually using the headset. Gallizzi has also added that full 360 turns are possible and it really does feel like you are connected inside the world of Skyrim – blowing the likes of Kinect and other already-available motion kits out of the water.

skyrim-virtual-reality-oculus-rift

Initially funded on Kickstarter, interest for Oculus Rift has now increased tenfold, highlighted in the fact that the likes of Gabe Newell, Cliff Bleszinski and John Carmark having already given their official endorsement to the tech. That means that developers who pledged $300 or more on Kickstarter as part of their backing are already in possession of an early kit, allowing them to go hands on with the product and introduce mods that allow support for games such as Skyrim.

A consumer version of Oculus Rift will not be ready until 2014, but we can’t wait to see what the final product looks like – again, it is all about being able to experience it first hand to truly appreciate what is possible. Watch the footage of Skyrim above and let us know your thoughts on virtual reality within gaming.

Are you really starting to believe that full virtual reality will be possible in the near future?

We have some interesting news for those of you who are yet to play Skyrim, but have always wanted to. Unsurprisingly, we are now seeing the first details of a possible Skyrim Legendary Edition in the works. This game is thought to be on the way for a Summer release and will come packed with all DLC released for the game.

As most of you are well aware, that will only now include the three DLC expansions Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. This is because Bethesda has now revealed in a statement that the journey has ended for Skyrim and that they will only provide minor updates to the game from this moment onwards.

The next game on the way from Bethesda is thought to be Project Zwei, a horror survival title on the way from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and his Tango Gameworks studio. The Legendary Edition of Skyrim though seems like a very good package indeed and it has now appeared online on various retailers, confirming a reasonable price of £35/$54 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, while the PC version will be cheaper at £29/$44.

This may seem expensive to a lot of you, but don’t forget that Bethesda were initially charging $20 a piece for Dawnguard and Dragonborn upon release. If the listing at this retailer is to be believed, then the Skyrim Legendary Edition will be available from June 7, which is just days away from the start of E3 2013.

Bethesda hasn’t confirmed any of this yet, but it would be very unlikely that we don’t see a version of Skyrim with all DLC expansions bundled. The question is, how many of you are yet to play Skyrim for this very reason? Are you interested in paying $54/£35 for a copy of the game with Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn?

Just hours after Bethesda dropped a bombshell in saying that they are no longer supporting Skyrim with major updates, Bethesda has now revealed a mystery video teaser in attempt to build anticipation for their new adventure that they are currently working on. We know it isn’t Skyrim, but what we’re about to show you isn’t thought to be related to Fallout 4 either.

That is obviously disappointing as if Bethesda are now longer providing us with a Skyrim DLC 4 expansion, then the next best thing is easily a Fallout 4 game releasing sometime in 2013. However, Pete Hines has hinted that the video you see over at Vine here, isn’t Fallout 4 – telling one user to ‘guess again’.

The question is, do we believe what Pete Hines is saying here or is he just trying to divert attention away from a definite Fallout 4 reveal coming at E3 2013? We’ve seen other feedback from you, suggesting that it could also be related to a new Wolfenstein game, which would be interesting if it’s on next-gen consoles.

Another big contender is the elusive Project Zwei game. To fill you in, Project Zwei is a horror game that is currently in development by Japanese studio Tango Gameworks – a studio that Zenimax Media recently acquired. The person behind Tango Gameworks is Shinji Mikami, who horror survival veterans may be familiar with as the creator of the Resident Evil games.

Fallout 4 is definitely top of the list for a lot of you at the moment, but we have a feeling that Project Zwei could turn out to be amazing as well – Bethesda publishing and the Resident Evil creator developing is one awesome combination you have to say.

For now, enjoy the video teaser through the link and let us know your thoughts on what it could be. Do you think it is related to Project Zwei as well, or something entirely different?

Well, we didn’t expect to see an outcome like this after all of the hype. While most of you were expecting at least one more Skyrim DLC expansion to come out, it appears that Bethesda has now had enough. The developer has written a statement on their blog, confirming that they are now moving on to the ‘next adventure’, which presumably means a game in development for next-gen consoles.

It feels like there is so much more to give to Skyrim after the release of Dragonborn, but it looks like it may turn out to be the last major DLC expansion released for the game. That means that the PC version of Skyrim with the likes of the Creation Kit and Steam Workshop is now the place to go to for hope of substantial new content to play.

In a blog post, Bethesda has revealed that they are moving on to a new adventure, but will still support Skyrim with ‘minor updates’. They have also revealed that their team has already been working on this new adventure and that it is something that requires their ‘full’ attention.

Although Dragonborn and Dawnguard were amazing add-on pieces for the game, we’re still a little surprised ourselves that they are not continuing the journey just a little further. Smaller packs akin to that of Oblivion would have still been fine in our book, but Bethesda obviously feels like the time is right to stop altogether.

At the same time, it is also an exciting prospect to think about the next project they are building. Imagine if Bethesda take to the stage at E3 2013 and reveal that Fallout 4 is on the way to next-gen consoles and PC – please make it happen Bethesda, as the whole world is waiting to play it.

What is your reaction to the news? A mixture of sad and excited at the same time? Skyrim owners, pull together on this and let us know how you are feeling.

We have some good news for those of you who have been keeping an eye on updates for the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls Online game. The title is not due out until the end of 2013, but we now have a confirmation that the first playable build of the game will be coming at the PAX East 2013 expo, which kicks off between March 22 and March 24.

This year’s event will be held in Boston and it now means that lucky attendees will have the chance to play The Elder Scrolls Online for the very first time at the end of this week – just days away! Considering that the game was only announced in May last year and the development time needed for such a MMORPG of this scope, we’re pleasantly surprised that Zenimax Online Studios have already got a playable build together in under a year.

Unfortunately, tickets appear to be completely sold out already for the event, with users having to pay $35 up to $70 for one day or three day badge pass for the big shindig. If you already have your pass waiting, you’ll be able to sample Elder Scrolls Online before anyone else, but also take part in a variety of other activities as well, including game tournaments and competitions.

Additionally, Bethesda has said that they’ll be holding a Tamriel Beer Garden event as well just to top everything off. An Elder Scrolls-esque flyer teased on Bethesda’s Blog states that Tamriel brews will be served throughout the event, with local merchants selling various wares and gambling activities possible as well.

It looks like great fun and an ideal place to talk about the gameplay that attendees have just witnessed for the first time – we wish we were going. With the rumored ‘Redguard’ DLC still not official for Skyrim, how much of a priority are you giving The Elder Scrolls Online?

Is it a game that you are definitely buying, or are you worried about high subscription costs each month?

We have some fantastic news for Skyrim fans now, as Bethesda has just finalized details of the highly anticipated 1.9 update for Skyrim. If you play on PC, you can opt into the beta now and get a preview of what is coming, but for everyone else – the 1.9 update has now been confirmed for a full release on both PC and console before the end of March.

It looks like Bethesda has really spent some time with this particular update as well, since the list of bug changes are massive and sure to put a smile on those who have been encountering pesky bugs that prevent them from playing. We can tell you that in this update, players will be able to benefit from no fewer than 73 bug fixes that attempt to improve the overall game performance, while finally fixing a few specific bugs that have been lingering around for months.

Aside from the massive bug fixes in the 1.9 update, Bethesda are also adding a new feature called Legendary. This will bring two major new features to the game – the first is a Legendary difficulty game setting, while the other is Legendary skills which will now be possible for players that have level 100 skills.

By doing this, you will set your skills back to level 15 and lose the perks, but effectively remove the overall level cap from that point onwards and be able to start again. It sounds a bit confusing, but should become clearer once the new update rolls out to everyone.

If you are interested in participating in the 1.9 beta, you can simply head to your Skyrim properties on Steam and opt in using the beta tab. Head to the official BethBlog to read through the entire list of bug fixes that are coming at the end of the month. Let us know if it solves the problems you have been having with the game, or if Bethesda have missed out a specific bug that you need fixing.
