You can see the tweet below, as you can see it does not state the name of the downloadable content or its price, however multiple sources have suggested that it will be called the Challenge map pack, or perhaps the Batcave Challenge map pack. One thing which is clear is that it will arrive on December 20th.

Brand new DLC coming December 20th with all new Batcave. Jokers carnival and the iceberg lounge also available to download then!

As you can probably tell details are extremely scarce at present, but it looks clear that this DLC will just bring new challenges to the game and no new storylines, this has infuriated some gamers so much that they set up a petition over at the Arkham City forums to urge Rocksteady Studios to bring story-based content to the game as Challenge maps are in their words “boring and repetitive” – do you agree?

If you look back at Batman: Arkham Asylum you will see that the DLC which was brought to this game consisted of new maps and map packs, we really think that gamers would happily spend more on DLC if it consisted of new stories to further enhance the game’s campaign, however some people say that such content would ruin the game’s ending.

We previously brought you news of the gameplay trailer, and there were also stories written speculating over how long the gameplay will be. Well with today’s news we can confirm that the game is to feature over 40 hours of gameplay content.

This is according to the article at CVG. They wrote of an interview with Sefton Hill, Game Director and The Guardian. In this interview he stated that it would take over 25 hours to complete the main campaign. The other 15 hours will apparently come from side story content.

He also goes on to compare the length of the game to being more like a TV series than a movie. You can see what else was said in the interview by reading the full article at the link above.

We can also confirm that ‘detective mode’ is back after its successful reign in the original Batman title — now with X-Ray vision.

Batman also seems to have gained a new ability with vertical tight rope wires that will give the player much more flexibility in the air, whilst enemies will be more of a challenge now that they can equip riot shields.

The screenshots, although not released by Warner Bros. came from an anonymous Flickr account who were hosting the images, therefore should be taken as a pinch of salt, but by looking at them I do not think they are fake in the slightest.

As in Arkham Asylum, the environments look beautifully dingy, keeping true to the Batman style dirt we know and love.

As reported from VG247, the info has come from CVG, who state that they received an email from Rocksteady’s recruitment agency. The email contained the following juicy message:

“Want to work on DLC for Batman: Arkham Asylum in London? Drop [us] a line,”

They could of course, have been talking about Arkham Asylum 2 which would seem slightly more logical, but if they are talking about the first game, then we take our hats off to them.

Just how many of you disagree with this though? Uncharted 2 was up for numerous awards, as was Batman: AA and Modern Warfare 2. It was Batman that took the most important award though – and I have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised.

While many of you are saying Uncharted 2 is the perfect game – mixing gameplay and graphics together to glorious effect, it was the unsung hero in Arkham Asylum that leaves the lasting impression.

Considering that all previous Batman games have basically been terrible lets face it, it is finally nice to see Eidos and Rocksteady create a title worthy of Best Game.

What are your thoughts on this? Did Batman: AA deserve this award, or do you think it is an outrage that Uncharted 2 didn’t win?

What other game do you know that features a host of enemies, such as The Joker, just imagine how much better it would have been if Heath Ledger had voiced him? The award that Batman: Arkham Asylum took home was the Best Gameplay Award.

Another big winner of the night was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. There is no denying how popular this game was when first launched, and picking up an award in the action, story, original score and audio use categories is solid proof of its achievements.

Gamers and experts had expected Uncharted to take the award for best game, so were surprised when Batman took the win – not that it did not deserve it. Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 is now underway and we reported that Robin will be in the game.

Other games that picked up awards at last nights Bafta Video Game awards ceremony were Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which took the public vote. Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort took the best family and social game, while Nintendo’s Dr Kawashima’s Brain Tr took the award for sales.
