Sony PS3 to get Nintendo Wii Balance Board type device

When it comes to games consoles that require a peripheral it is the Nintendo Wii that is king, this is since the launch of the Balance Board. However; other consoles have had great success with using peripherals. Games which have utilized this are Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Both these titles have seen great success, so just think how future titles will be perceived by the public if more was launched.

The world of gaming is full of rumours the latest being that, the Sony PS3, Xbox 360 and PC are to get some sort of motion sensing board. The board much like the Wii Balance Board will be used for Activision’s upcoming title Tony Hawk’s Adrenaline.

The game is still in its development stage but if the rumour were true, then it would be a great addition to the Tony Hawks game. If Sony did introduce a motion sensing board, then this will open the floodgates for a great number of titles, it could also help to increase the sales of the ever popular PS3.

Activision has noticed that there have been many rumours over the net about a new motion sensing board, and they feel that they need to respond to the rumours. They have said that they wish to dampen speculation; the strange thing is they have refused to confirm or deny the claims. Activision has told Eurogamer that “We regularly test all kinds of game concepts and pricing strategies using market research.” They also added “All of which are options whose outcomes are yet to be determined.”

Oh well looks like we are all still in the dark a bit, lets just watch this space.

EA Skate to use Balance Board: not just for Nintendo Wii Fit

If you were a game developer who was working on a new game for the Nintendo Wii then the first thing you should do is to make sure that the game will utilize the Balance Board. EA are working on a new game from their Skate franchise for both the DS and Wii, and Electronic Arts have said that this game will be using the balance board. Skate is being developed exclusively for both the Wii and the DS so that they can take advantage of both consoles controls.
EA will be using their Flickit technology for both the DS and Wii, on the Nintendo Wii the Wii remote will be used to take advantage of Flickit as well as working together with the Balance Board so that Skate is able to break new ground. By using the Balance Board, EA will be able to offer innovative support and bring a new freshness to the franchise. Skate has now been designed from scratch so that these fresh new designs in the game will work in harmony with the Wii Balance which can only be used of the Wii Fit at the moment. When using the Wii on Skate this will allow you to flip your skateboard as well as perform your great moves, well not if I was the one trying to pull the moves.

Using the Wii Board for Skate is a great idea, just using it on the skiing helps to perfect your balance while having fun, so these will do the same job. There is one drawback, your teenagers will now want to stay in more.

As Skate is being developed for the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360 and the Sony PS3 are to get Skate 2, however there are no more details on the game or a release date.

Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board and membership to cost $90

It seems like so long ago when we first heard that Nintendo was to introduce the Wii Fit, this balance board was going to be Nintendo’s fitness-gym-in-a-box. In the summer last year the rumor of the price was about $70, however that price was a little on the cheap side, the Nintendo Wii Fit and one-off membership will cost $89.99 and will be released on May 19.

The reason that the Nintendo Wii Fit with Balance Board is more expensive than was first thought is being blamed on the weak dollar. The Wii Fit was launched back in December in Japan and has been a huge hit; the people over in Europe will be getting the balance board on April 25, which is over three weeks before the U.S. will get their hands on this fitness-gym-in-a-box.

However if you do live in the US then the Nintendo World store in New York City has a great little offer, if you put down $5 on a Nintendo Wii Fit any time after April 18 you will receive a free limited-edition T-shirt with a print of Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto as well as a signature. However, you must hurry as this is only limited to the first 1,000. This is the first time that Nintendo have developed something to exercise the body instead of the mind, now your parents can no longer say that playing a games console is bad for your health.

Nintendo Wii Fit with the Balance Board
We reported in January that Nintendo’s Wii Fit would get a U.S. release in Q2 2008; today we can confirm that the Nintendo Wii Fit with the Balance Board will ship around May 19 for $89.99. The date and price comes from reports that GameStop have been sharing, the new Balance Board was first thought to be a high price but it looks like this is not the case and $89.99 for Wii Fit and the Balance Board seem like a real bargain.

Remember that the price can change before the date of release.
