Even though the standard Audi R8 V10 specifications were already rather impressive, this hasn’t stopped tuners from trying too improve the supercar. The latest is from ABT, who has made a few tweaks to even offer increased handling over the Plus variant.

2014 Audi R8 V10 ABT vs. Plus – The former still uses the same 5.2-liter FSI V10 powerplant, but has managed to push the horsepower up to 600, which will achieve a 0-62 mph time of just 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 198 mph, just a little shy of that golden 200 mph barrier.

Audi R8 V10 ABT vs. Plus variant – Specs not price

As for the Plus variant, the same engine is used, but only pushes out 550 horsepower, yet still achieves a 0-62 mph time of 3.5 seconds. So even with 50 horsepower less it still has the same performance.

Where the main differences are is in the body kit, which helps to improve aerodynamics, and downforce with a rear wing. The suspension has been lowered, as well as being improved on, there’s a stainless steel pipe and two choices of 19-inch rims.

Audi R8 V10 ABT vs. Plus variant

The 2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus price is just over $170,000, which isn’t bad for a supercar. The official 2014 Audi R8 V10 ABT price has yet to be announced, but we don’t expect it to be cheap, as those upgrades are certain to cost tens of thousands more than the Plus model.

While both variants will be similar in a drag race, we believe that the ABT version will prove better on the track, as it’s clear that these upgrades have one goal in mind, and that’s to be an awesome track car.

Thanks to ABT.

2013 Audi A4 Allroad review revisited http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/05/20/2013-audi-a4-allroad-review-revisited/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/05/20/2013-audi-a4-allroad-review-revisited/#comments Mon, 20 May 2013 13:49:05 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=160505 2013 Audi A4 Allroad review revisitedWhen choosing a new vehicle there are many types to choose from, such as cars, trucks, SUVs, CUVs, mini vans etc. However, for me there’s only one choice, and that’s...]]> 2013 Audi A4 Allroad review revisited

When choosing a new vehicle there are many types to choose from, such as cars, trucks, SUVs, CUVs, mini vans etc. However, for me there’s only one choice, and that’s a car, such as a sedan, coupe or hatchback, but there are one or two SUVs that I’d consider. However, the vehicles I’ve always found pointless are the modern wagons.

Take the 2013 Audi A4 Allroad, while this has been getting rather positive reviews, for me it is going back to the 80 when they just slap some plastic bits on the side, jack up the ride height a little and then pass it off as a different vehicle. Why would you want a vehicle that performs okay on the road (while looking cheap and nasty) and mediocre off-road?

Anyway, that’s just one person’s opinion, and the 2013 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro Premium is said to be one of the better models on the market in this segment. Even though the 2013 model has been on the market for a while now, it’s still proving a popular vehicle, and for those who are still indecisive we thought we would look at a 2013 Audi A4 Allroad review over two videos.

The 2013 Audi A4 Allroad review is a perfect example of a divided opinion, as one of the reviewers is all for the model, while the other is a little skeptical. However, the review is taken from a South African’s perspective, and we have to say this would be the perfect county for the Allroad to succeed with its mix of tarmac and off-road terrain.

In the second review it shows just how out of place such a vehicle is while in a country like England, as the terrain just doesn’t ask for what is essential an estate with a higher ride height.

Take a look at both video and let us know what conclusion you come to.

We don’t expect to see the next-gen Audi Q7 until summer 2014, so we are still uncertain as to what the new version will look like, but we can tell you it will have been on a strict diet. This is because the all-new Audi Q7 will be around 363 kg (800 pounds) lighter than the current model.

Auto News reports that the new Q7 will be unveiled in Europe in 2014, and as well as the all-new shape there is to be a hybrid variant as well. The Q7 is now 8 years old and so needs Audi to do something very special, so we are waiting with bated breath. When the original model was launched it was very modern in its design, but over the years rivals have been keeping Audi honest.

Audo Q8 after Q7

Audi has done their best to keep the Audi relevant in a very competitive market, and so we expect the all-new Q7 to be something rather special. However, we don’t believe Audi will throw everything and the kitchen sink into the Q7, as this will surely be saved for the upcoming Audi Q8, which is expected to be released in 2016?

Both models will come with a hybrid version, with the Q7 model expected to be very similar to that of the Audi A8. The Q8 model will have tough competition, as Audi will pit it against the Range Rover Sport, which as we know is said to be one of if not the best large sporty SUVs on the market.

Going back to the Q7 release, while this will be 2014 for Europe, those of you in the US will have to wait until 2015 instead.

Not much is known about the new 2015 Audi TT due for release in late 2014, although yesterday more details came to light on the third-generation model. While the first generation was considered to be a hairdresser’s car, the second-gen model helped to remove some of that stigma, but not fully. So how will the third-gen do?

According to a recent report from Car and Driver we now have a few details on the 2015 Audi TT specs, and no doubt some of you will be saying it’s not the big leap they had hoped, although we have to refer that judgment until we see the 2015 Audi TT exterior shots, when that will be is anyone’s guess.

Will the new Audi TT specs impress? Firstly, the engine of choice will be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo charged unit, which will produce 220 horsepower. We know some of you will say this engine is not big enough for a German car like this, especially when some US cars were getting 260hp from its 2.0T engine several years ago. However, it’s more than just power, put one of those US sports coupes up against an Audi TT or other such German coupe and see what comes out on top.

Having said that, the new Audi TTS version will be getting an increase from 265 to 300 horsepower. If it’s more power that you’re wanting, then the 2015 Audi TT RS will go from 360 to 380 horsepower from its new 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine.

The 2015 Audi TT exterior shots will be a long way off yet, but we are getting hints about the new models interior, and it seems that Audi could be doing what Apple is expected to do with their iOS 7, and that’s to go with a simplified look.

If you’ve ever wondered how the C7 Corvette Stingray will compare to some of its rivals, then you are in for a treat, as there is a spy shot that shows the 2014 Corvette Stingray lining up against an Audi R8 and McLaren MP4-12C. That’s not all, the new vehicle from Chevrolet is also seen testing alongside a Ferrari 458 and a Porsche 911 Carrera S.

It’s certainly a real treat to see the C7 ZR1 driving around with those vehicles mentioned above, all of which you can see in these spy photos. Seeing the new version of the Corvette next to the likes of the McLaren MP4-12C is proof that the C7 ZR1 will be no slouch, and rumors of more than 700 horsepower proves that.

Having said that, we know that cars like this are great when on less-demanding tracks, but add in more than your fair share of corners, as we’re sure the R8 and MP4-12C will show the C7 how a car should truly handle.

We do hope the 2014 Corvette (C7) Stingray will be very different, and with Chevy suggesting that the new ZR1 will have world-class performance fills us with some confidence. They are certainly building the car up, as it’s also said the new C7 will give you one of the best driving experiences from a sports car, although we do find that a little hard to believe.

Let’s say that Chevy has been able to improve the handling with their new sports car, we do hope the C7 ZR1 interior is a vast improvements, because this is a key area where they have lacked in recent years, whereas their rivals have excelled.

Personally, I feel that the Corvette will never be able to compare to the likes of Ferrari or Porsche, but when it comes to the amount of power compared to the price, the Corvette will be a tough nut to crack.

You may wonder why we would be talking about the new Star Trek movie; well it seems as though Audi has done yet another fantastic tie-in, and this time with Star Trek Into Darkness.

Audi’s new Star Trek Into Darkness commercial is a very funny tie-in featuring the two Spocks, Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto. In the video the old and new just wants to outdo each other all the time, and after being beaten by their latest competition, Quinto suggests a race to the golf course.

Nimoy is driving a Mercedes, while Quinto is behind the wheel of the Audi. It’s clear from the start that the Audi has the edge, although this was obvious considering it’s their commercial.

The new Spock wins the contest, but there was a funny moment towards the end, when Nimoy puts his arm around Quinto and performs the Vulcan neck pinch, which sees him fall to the ground.

The final scene is the pivotal part of the commercial, as it shows an Audi driving itself away, showing that the Audi is better than the both of them. This new Star Trek Into Darkness and Audi tie-in is nothing new, as the German car manufacturer already has a huge presence in the Iron Man movies, and more so in the latest one, Iron Man 3.

What’s the best part of this new commercial?

If you are like us then you look forward to seeing the Super Bowl commercials and 2013 is no different, which will see some innovative ads that showcase new products and just how big budgets can get for companies wanting to reach a massive audience.

You can see a couple of videos below this article that feature the Kia and Audi Super Bowl 2013 commercials. The first big game ad is titled Space Babies and features the 2014 Kia Sorento, which runs for 1 minute and 16 seconds. The image above is a screenshot taken from this commercial.

Kia’s Super Bowl commercial for 2013 tells the story of where babies come from, which is something most parents have to explain at some point. Kia delivers an explanation to this question through a journey shown in the first video below.

The second video features Audi’s 2013 Super Bowl commercial that runs for a slightly shorter 1 minute and 3 seconds. This Super Bowl ad is titled Prom and apparently cost around $4 million.

Audi’s Super Bowl commercial tells the story of a teenager going to his Senior Prom in a new Audi S6, which turns an insecure teenager into a young man by the time he actually arrives at the prom.

Take a look at these two Super Bowl XLVII commercials, and let us know your favorite in the comments? It is worth noting that at least half of the SuperBowl ads in 2013 will promote Twitter and hashtags.

It’s fair to say that when it comes to sports cars being able to handle themselves on the dirt we would never have put American brands on top of our list, but our perception changed when Chrysler brought out the All-Wheel-Drive Charger back in 2011. However, they knew that a few changes needed to be made in order to challenge their rivals who had been doing this thing for years, so now we give you the 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport.

This is a vast improvement over the outgoing model but how will it compare to the 2013 Audi RS6 Avant Plus, which is also an updated version? Both these vehicles will see an increase in power over their less sportier models, with the Charger giving you the choice of a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 or a more powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8 offering up to 370 horsepower.

Audi RS6 Avant

The Audi will use the same V10 engine but will be tweaked to generate 600bhp instead of the previous 572 horsepower. So looking at the engine the Audi RS6 Avant Plus has the advantage. However, what worries us with the new Sport version of the 2013 Dodge Charger AWD is how many of the upgrades are cosmetic and not to the technology that makes a car do what it does so well to keep it glued to the road. Having said that, it’s obvious that the Audi will feel more at home using its AWD system when compared to the Charger because Audi and the Quattro GmbH division have the advantage.

We’re not certain as to what other new features the Plus model of the Audi RS6 Avant will get because the details are limited, but one would assume that there have been a few weight saving measure taken to allow the vehicle to handle and perform much better. While it’s easy for me to say that the Audi wins hands down, I’d love to know which car you would choose?

If you were to ask those who visit the Detroit Auto Show what car has stood out for them you’re certain to get a mixed reaction. However, we bet that a huge percentage will tell you that the German car manufactures are on top of their game this year, which is evident when you look at the best of the bunch, the 2014 Audi RS7 and the BMW M6 Gran Coupe.

The RS and M badges on their respective brands will tell you that there is not only a vast amount of power under the hood but also handling to match. While we love America muscle cars, these are often unrefined beasts that cower when approacing a series of corners, unlike their European counterparts, although we can’t help but fall in love with the C7 Corvette Stingray.

The Audi RS7 Sportback is a direct competitor to the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, along with the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG 4-Matic. However, in the past Mercedes always seems to struggle in the handling department when compared to their German rivals. Both the Audi and BMW are evenly matched so it will come down to two key features, price and street appeal.

Which of the two gets your vote? The Audi RS7 is said to have a top speed of 189.5 mph (305 km/h) and a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 3.9 seconds. The BMW M6 has a top speed of pretty much the same but a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 4.2 seconds. View the videos below of both these cars, which looks at the most important features of each.

Back in October 2010 we first learned that Google was working on a self-driving car and the vehicle of choice was a Toyota Prius. Well it looks as though the idea could finally be catching on as Lexus and Audi are following Google with their own self-driving cars, which were on show during CES.

You might wonder why this technology is not being shown during one of the large Auto Shows, but the kind of technology being used in these vehicles is ideal for the Consumer Electronics Show. Toyota is calling their project the Advanced Active Safety Research Vehicle (AASRV) and while they are looking to perfect the car, what they are most interested in is what they can learn from the vehicle.

It has been reported that the car is to have the Lexus brand and will be packed with all the latest technology to make the car self-driving, and the main part of this tech is LIDAR, which are a set of lasers that keep an eye on everything that is going on around the vehicle. There’s also radar all-round, HD cameras and also GPS to keep a constant check on the vehicles position. However, don’t hold your breath just yet because we are a long way from seeing cars driving themselves.

Audi concur with this and suggest that their own version of the self-driving car is at least a decade from going into production. The German car manufacturer was also at CES showing off what they have planned, and while we would assume that Audi would have the better car in terms of build quality, we would have assumed that the electronics in the Lexus would have the edge.

Having said that, Audi has taken what Google and Toyota have done and made a more compact version so was able to fit behind the grille of a stock Audi A7 instead of having the equipment on the roof like on the other vehicles. We’re told that the demonstration from them during CES was rather impressive because they called the car from where it was parked via an app, the car then drove itself from where it was parked and proceeded to the front of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Las Vegas.

We do love the idea of cars driving themselves because if we all had vehicles like this then this would certainly reduce the risk of accidents and traffic jams, although this is still a long way off – we can’t even see it being widespread in a decade either.
