There are many ways to make an already great car even more special and that is to release a limited edition model, much like Bugatti have done with the Veyron. However, other carmakers are getting in on the act, with the recently announced Audi R8 China-specific edition proof of that. Although the Audi R8 for China price is MIA, we do know that it will be a lot more reasonable than the Veyron.

There will only be eighty Audi R8 China Edition vehicles; they will come in two different color variants and will be known by their colors, which will be the Audi R8 China Edition Malibu blue, or the Inverse. The former will have the main body in blue with the sideblades grey in color, with the latter having a grey main body and blue sideblades.

What makes this China Edition different to other models is not only those colors but also the 19-inch 5 twin-spoke “Y” design high-gloss black wheels and the carbon matt spoiler, which we have to say “gives it a much more aggressive look“, something we know the Chinese market will love. It’s worth noting that there are significant changes to the interior, which you can see by visiting the official Audi website, but there are no tuning tweaks or improvements to the handling.

As yet the Audi R8 for China price is yet to be revealed, but at least with know that apart from the different features mentioned above the Audio R8 China Edition specs will be just the same as the standard version, so you’ll still have the same 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 525 horsepower, which is pretty impressive when you consider how light the vehicle is. That’s enough for a top speed of 316 km/h and a 0-100 km/h of 3.9 seconds. It’s hard to know how popular this model will be, and not knowing the cost and when the new model will be available is not a good start to spark interest – although it could make those interested even more intrigued.

According to Chris Woodyard from USA Today if you want to own one of the supercars it will set you back a cool $196,800. Then on top of that you have to pay $1,250 destination and handling charge, but an extra twelve hundred dollars won’t bother you if have just laid out almost $200,000 in the first place.

The Audi is a breathed on version of the popular R8, but its 5.2-liter V10 has an extra 35hp delivering 560 horsepower. The bodywork is more than 180 lbs lighter than the original even though it has rear hatch spoiler and diffuser.

It also has an R tronic sequential manual transmission, and when you put this all together will give you a top speed of 199mph and 0-60 in only 3.6 seconds. Made of mainly carbon fiber and a Quattro four wheel drive system makes for a highly desirable car if you can afford it.

There are a number of races where aerodynamic efficiency is very important, F1 is one and the other is LeMans. However, Audi has decided to go with a new concept with the R18, as it will feature a closed coupe design. Picking up on that engine mentioned earlier, we have managed to get more of an insight from the Audi Press release from Autoblog. Diesels have never been as they are now; they are producing more power and are now much cleaner, and in most cases provide much more torque than a standard gasoline engine.
