As you may already have heard, a massive deal was struck recently in the world of wireless mobile carriers. The nation’s second largest carrier, AT&T is to buy the nation’s fourth largest operator T-Mobile USA in a deal worth $39 billion.

We have been keeping you updated with these latest events asking what the deal means for you the consumer and whether or not you are happy with the deal. In an article by Stacey Higginbotham at GIGaom which explains the deal in details, it also notes what Sprint had to say on the matter.

The new deal sees the combination of these already successful companies growing to be three time the size of Sprint. The company says if the deal was approved it would dramatically alter the structure of the communications industry.

Meanwhile over at the Sprint news forum there is a huge debate going on involving a lot of understandably distressed customers wondering where it leaves them standing and what Sprint intend to do about this. You can check out the forum for yourself and discover what people are saying.

For more details about the deal check out the link to GIGaom where you will find the full article also revealing what else Sprint had to say. What do you think of this acquisition? Does it affect you? Let us know in the comments below.

We have some great news now for those of you waiting to purchase the upcoming Motorola Atrix 4G on the AT&T network, as the carrier has just announced pricing details, its accessory bundles and a release date for the much-anticipated Android-based smartphone.

According to Eric M. Zeman over on the phonescoop.com website, AT&T will be making the Motorola Atrix 4G handset available for pre-order as from February 13th. The device – which then launches on March 6th – will cost $199.99, with a new two-year service agreement.

As Peter Chubb previously mentioned here, Motorola revealed last month that a Laptop Dock would be available upon the Motorola Atrix 4G’s AT&T launch, although no pricing details were given. However, AT&T has now released details on not one but two accessory bundles.

The first bundle – which cost $499 after a $100 mail-in rebate – includes the Atrix 4G handset and the Laptop Dock accessory, but does require a tethering add on and a subscription to AT&T’s Data Pro smartphone plan. The laptop dock can be purchased on its own for $499.

Customers also have the option of a second bundle, which will cost you $189.99 and comes with a Motorola HD Multimedia Dock, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and a remote control. If you’d prefer to buy the HD dock separately, it will cost you $129.99.

As Bonnie Cha over at cnet.com recently reported, the laptop dock accessory allows users to connect their Motorola Atrix 4G smartphone to a laptop shell, enabling them to send emails, view media and browse the web on a larger screen and with a bigger keyboard.

In case you need reminding, the Motorola Atrix 4G runs Anroid 2.2 OS and comes with a 4-inch qHD touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera/720p camcorder, an HDMI out and 16GB of onboard memory. Will you be buying the Motorola Atrix 4G handset?

Previously we have brought you some budget Android handsets, ones that are pretty good but don’t break the bank, now we bring you possibly the greatest Best Buy deal I have seen. Following on from the carnage of Black Friday Best Buy are slashing the price of the Apple iPhone 3GS.

The 8GB model is currently at $99.99 with a 2 year contract, well tomorrow that $99.99 will magically turn into a big fat $0, FREE! What is so good about the 3GS? Well let’s have a look at its specs and see if that sways you. Bear in mind that this is a good opportunity for first-timers to start using the Apple handsets. You can see the model of phone here, of course the deal hasn’t yet been applied as it will not go live until tomorrow.

Before

After

Of course it is 3G enabled and has an integrated 3 mega pixel camera, 3.5” multi-touch display with a resolution of 480 x 320, Bluetooth and WiFi. Apple has revolutionized the mobile phone market with the iPhone models and this is definitely a great device to get you started using them. Remember it also has all of the apps from the app store that can help you every day.

This is going to sounds a bit sad but I never used an iPhone till I got my iPhone 4, now I would be lost without it. My wife and all my friends are using iPhones of varying models and they are all good quality phones. Also at the bottom of the article we have included a video of the iPhone 3GS from the gadget show being reviewed.

Is this perhaps the deal for you? Have a look at the handset here and then check back tomorrow for the deal. Will you be picking this up tomorrow? Let us know in the comments below.

Recently, an image of what looked to be the Motorola Olympus was discovered in the wild. Now it seems that we will be able to get this “iPhone killer” in January or December on AT&T according to a now-deleted Facebook post.

At first, the device was thought to be coming out around the same time as Android Gingerbread or Honeycomb, but if we are to believe what we have been told, it could come sooner rather than later.

On the official AT&T Facebook page, a user left a question regarding the Olympus’ availability to which they responded that “the Motorola Olympus should be available in December or January.”

Of course, there is always going to be confusion amongst the ranks, and the post was promptly removed. But not without a response from the guys at AT&T that claimed that they “don’t have any information to share about upcoming devices.”

AT&T claim that the first response was posted in error, as they do not wish to give release information yet. Especially on Facebook.

If the initial post is to believed, then chalk up a Motorola Olympus on your wish list as it could be coming as soon as next month.
