According to an article on the BBC, the famous car maker has beat Apple to the top spot for the second year in a row. Aston Martin again won the crown as the coolest brand in the UK following a survey that is taken annually by Superbrands.

Aston Martin first hit the lime light after appearing in a number of James Bond movies, which started with Goldfinger in 1964. The annual survey has a Superbrand as having achieved “the finest reputation in its field”.

The body was founded back in 1995 in London and takes independent research to find out what the UKs strongest brands are. Annual league tables are put together after asking the thoughts of business professionals, marketing experts, and UK consumers.

It was found that women are just as interested in technology brands as men, as 47 percent voted Apple as their favorite technology brand with BlackBerry getting 44 percent. The survey saw 2,000 people taking part compiled from a list by a panel of experts.

Another mode of transport Harley-Davidson made up the top three of the list, and unsurprisingly the likes of Ferrari, Bang & Olufsen, and Rolex all made it into the top ten. Google made it into number seven with YouTube finishing off the top ten. What is your favorite brand?

Rory Reid from Cnet is reporting that the company has reignited its partnership with the Zagato design house with the creation of the new car. The front grill reminds you of the classic DB4 GT which inspired the creation of the Zagato. While at the rear has the same masculine feel of the Vanquish, and the tail light has a similar set up to the Ferrari FF sitting above a big diffuser assembly.

The new Aston Martin is powered by a V12 engine producing 510bhp with 570 of torque, which is the same as you would find with the V12 Vantage. No official performance figures have been revealed yet but expect somewhere in the region of 190mph, and a 0-62mph of around 4.2 seconds.

With the huge intake at the front and bubble roof it’s not hard to see the design house influence on the car. The car is to be shown off by the shores of Lake Como before it heads to the Nürburgring on May 28 to make its racing debut. Then towards the end of June it will be entered into a 24-hour race at the same circuit.

There are a number of things that you can change on your new Virage and Cygnet, such as paintwork color, what material you want on your seats, such as leather, or even down to what sort of wheels you would like. You can spend from five minutes to 5 hours getting your choice right; it all comes down to just how fussy you are.

We have to wonder why it is only the Virage and Cygnet that comes with the new customization program? Maybe this will change at a later date? Although you do need to remember not to go too stupid, as these cars are not your average sedan or hatchback – a small mistake could cost you thousands.

Having said that, Aston Martin has not been shy in the amount of choices that you have when it comes to colors, materials etc, so you can go as conservative or radical as you like. We would certainly be interested to know how you configured your Virage or Cygnet?

Now that you have stopped salivating at those images now it is time to get down to the details; the first thing that you need to know is its powerplant, a 4.7-litre V8 engine with increased power for the 2011 edition. We would like to give you the performance figures, but Aston Martin has not been forthcoming with all the details.

However, there is still a lot we can tell you, such as a number of improvements to the aerodynamics and downforce, which are two fundamental features to any racer. What helps with all that extra downforce is a carbonfibre diffuser – anyone who loves F1 will know just how important this feature is to gaining extra downforce.

You can clearly see from the images that the new 2011 GT4 racer has the front and rear bumper from the V12 Vantage, as well as those lights. For those of you who will be taking this new car to the track will find that the new Bosch ABS and traction control system will come in handy in wet conditions (this is an optional extra).

At first glance you would be forgiven for thinking it is just another fancy watch which costs a bomb, well you are right, however it can also open and close your Aston Martin DB9 via buttons on the side of the watch.

There are two sapphire buttons, one on the left and one on the right, when pressed simultaneously it will activate a “find me” feature, which lights up your DB9′s headlamps for a few seconds so you can locate it, this will be very useful if it is parked in a car park full of other DB9s.

Now for the price, the AMVOX2 Transponder watch will set you back £12,426, let’s face it anyone willing to spend £111,000 on a car probably has a few grand to spend on a watch.

Harry Yeaggy, a classic car collector from Ohio was the lucky winner, and was quite surprised that he managed to secure the bid. He commented, “I thought a European would get it, but I guess they don’t appreciate James Bond like we do.” He also that he wanted to take it for a drive around London the same night.

The car will be displayed in his own private museum collection, and the proceeds of the sale are said to be going to previous owner Jerry Lee’s, charitable foundation which helps education and international anti-crime projects.

Jerry Lee originally bought the car back in 1969 for $12,000 US. It still has the 007 refinements including: revolving number plates, bullet-proof rear shield, Browning machine-guns and of course the ejector seat.

Ian Fleming, James Bond’s creator originally wanted the Special Agent to drive another very British car, the Bentley, but filmmakers had other ideas. At the time the DB5 was in direct competition with Jaguars E-type for dominance within the British and American sports market.

We are now hearing that another Bond car is for sale, this is Bond’s 1964 Aston Martin DB5, which is regarded by many as the World’s most famous car, this car alone is expected to raise over $5 million when it goes under the hammer in London on October 27th.

This is the first time that this car has been available to the public to buy, therefore I am sure that there will be a few Bond fans who will be interested in getting their hands on this priceless piece of memorabilia.

The car is being sold by the U.S. radio broadcaster Jerry Lee, he currently owns the car after buying it from the Aston Martin Lagonda factory in 1969 for just $12,000, which at the time was a lot of money.

All of the proceeds made will go to the Jerry Lee Foundation, this foundation “is a philanthropy dedicated primarily to reducing crime and enhancing education through research on what works to achieve these goals”, you can find out more about the Jerry Lee foundation here.

All the Aston Martin’s were from the 1950s and 1960s, a DB2 sold for £513,000 and a BD4 sold for £50,000 – both beating estimates. There seems to be a huge demand for older sports cars, you only have to look at the recent sales of vintage French and Italian models to know what we mean.

As a brand Aston Martin has been struggling – it is hoped that this recent auction in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire will help begin a surge in sales. It is these earlier cars that show more interest than today’s models – so maybe Aton Martin needs to go back to basics and see what the customer rally want.

Scott Reyburn from Bloomberg explains that the red DB4 that sold a couple of days ago was the one that we used to see testing the gadgets in Bond movies, which would then be put on the DB5 model.

The DBS coupes that are finished in special black flick paint with new wheels also have black leather interiors, silver stitching and carbon-Kevlar seats. Bang & Olufsen fit the cars out with a massive 1000-watt sound system containing 13 speakers.

However if you want to do more than drool over this latest edition to the DBS family (and have a great big handful of hundred- dollar bills) you will still have to wait until summer for delivery.

The One-77 features a 7.3 litre V12 engine, which during testing clocked a speed of more than 220mph, this car has recently been “undergoing intensive development at a southern European proving ground”.

Prior to this the Vanquish recorded a speed of slightly higher than 200mph, it is thought that the One-77 recorded a speed of 220.007mph in dry and windy conditions.

The One-77 should launch sometime during the summer 2010, it is thought that it will cost around £1.2 million, however to secure one you need to put down a £200,000 deposit.
