The Assassin’s Creed series is bigger than it ever has been before and the latest game has more features than the rest especially when it comes to the multiplayer modes. Now the multiplayer aspect of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is about to get even better as Ubisoft announces the Mediterranean Traveler map pack extension for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The DLC will bring a variety of features both new and old, including some of the favorites from the previous title Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. The main aspect it will bring to the game is the addition of six new multiplayer maps. The new maps will be called Dyers, Constantinople and Jerusalem and the other three will be familiar as they are Brotherhood’s historical renaissance settings night-time Sienna, San Donato and Florence.

As most of you will know by now, Revelations continues the story of Ezio Auditore and as a single player game offers some awesome gameplay, the best in the series so far according to many reviews. So if the multiplayer aspects are not enough to get you to want to play it then take into account how good gameplay and story is and you should be convinced.

For those who already own the game and are interested in extended their multiplayer experience, the Mediterranean Traveler map pack will be available for download January 24th. According to Eurogamer it will set PlayStation 3 owners back £7.99, the same for PC gamers and those who own an Xbox 360 will be parting with 800 Microsoft Points, the equivalent of around £6.25.

Will you be downloading the latest DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations? What do you think of the game’s multiplayer aspects in general?

Time for today’s random story of the day, as we’ve just heard that Assassin’s Creed hero Ezio Auditore will be making an appearance in Square-Enix’ upcoming RPG Final Fantasy XIII-2, or at least Ezio’s costume will be.

In an unlikely pairing between Ubisoft and Square-Enix, Ezio’s costume from the recently released Assassin’s Creed Revelations game will be available in Final Fantasy XIII-2 as optionable DLC, according to a press release issued by Square-Enix.

Ezio is no stranger to jumping on board other franchises of course, as you may have read the recent news that he’ll also appear as a playable character in the upcoming Soul Calibur V game. And we’d also place a bet on him also appearing in the Sony’s super secret ‘Smash Bros’ game as well.

There’s no word on how much this will cost though, but we can confirm that Ezio’s AC gear will be available for Final Fantasy XIII-2 character Noel Kriess. Considering that there’s an official press release and everything, does that mean we can expect a similar move from Ubisoft in relation to a Final Fantasy XIII-2 costume DLC appearing in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations at some point?

You can take a look at how Noel will look with the new AC attire, thanks to an image below provided by Joystiq. Just as a final reminder to those that don’t know, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due an imminent release in Japan and Hong Kong on December 15, but fans in the US and Europe will have to wait until February 3rd to get your hands on the game – a similar release strategy to the Sony PS Vita handheld.

What are your thoughts on this random collaboration between Ubisoft and Square-Enix? Are you interested in picking up this costume for FFXIII-2 or would you prefer Square to focus on more pressing matters, like a FF7 remake for example?

We cannot stress enough what an exciting autumn is in store for all types of gamers this year, as several highly anticipated titles are set to release. One of these titles is Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, the fourth game in the thrilling action adventure series from Ubisoft. One component of the game that has been improved is the multiplayer section and the developers have unveiled a trailer giving us a sneaky peek at what we can expect from the mode.

We recently provided our readers with news about the beta being live, which gave those lucky enough to sign up to the limited number of spots available, a taste of the multiplayer world of Revelations. Along with the beta came details about what the multiplayer mode entails which included the new modes, new maps and new characters.

The trailer, which can be viewed below, is a little less revealing about what’s new in multiplayer mode and more about the various executions players can perform during combat. It features several clips of different playable characters killing a number of different soldiers and as CVG highlights, it doesn’t hold back when it comes to the gore.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations has got one hell of a reputation to live up to following the success the series has had so far, and judging from its more evolved game engine from Ubisoft, which was used in the prequel Brotherhood, it doesn’t look like it will disappoint. Certain features have been added to the game and more importantly the gripping storylines concerning Ezio and Altair are expected to be brought to a conclusion in this title.

For some gamers the multiplayer section won’t be very important as it is the story mode part that has kept them buying the previous titles from the series. The game hits shelves November 15th. Are you looking forward to playing the multiplayer mode or does the solo campaign appeal to you more?

We have some fantastic news for Assassin’s Creed fans now as we can confirm that the public beta for the highly anticipated title has just gone live today. Previously it was only available for PlayStation Plus users and other select people but now it is available for everyone else.

However, as like every other public beta, spaces are going to be extremely limited and Ubisoft has already advised fans that they should download the beta from the PlayStation Store now if they want to avoid disappointment by leaving it too late.

The beta is available as of 10am UK time this morning, and it will last until September 11th according to the official EU PlayStation Blog. There will be nine playable characters in the multiplayer beta, some of which include the bombardier, the trickster, the sentinel, the deacon and much more. Three maps will be available to choose from and these are Knight’s hospital, Antioch and Constantinople.

Another great thing about the beta as despite the fact that it will only last a few days, Ubisoft has even included a full set of leaderboards for players to utilize as well, although Ubisoft will probably reset them when the full game is out.

If you are planning to participate in the Assassin’s Creed Revelations beta or if you already have access to it, you’ll find the official beta guide very useful on Ubisoft’s website. You’ll find detailed information on the characters, multiplayer modes, perks and abilities available in the beta so there is plenty of content to keep you busy.

Are you a self-confessed Assassin’s Creed fanatic? If so, let us know your opinions on the beta so far – is it shaping up to be the best Assassin’s Creed game so far or not?

The release of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is still a few months away yet but that hasn’t stopped the buildup to it from heating up. Ubisoft have been fairly generous in the content they have released so far, and judging from the trailers and the screenshots we’ve seen, the game looks graphically amazing.

We have some exciting news about the Revelations multiplayer BETA today as the company behind the game has announced it will be available exclusively to PlayStation Plus members from September 3rd. Select Uplay members will also be able to experience the BETA first, though it will only be available until September 11th for both groups.

Although the ACR BETA is not out for a few weeks Ubisoft have been kind enough to give us a few details on key features of what to expect with a promise that more details will be surfacing on a dedicated web page soon.

First of all we have the various maps that will be available. These are called Constantinople, Antioch and Knight’s Hospital. All three are designed for a more strategic approach and are apparently easier to avoid line of sight in.

There are also details on the various characters you can lay during the BETA. There’s a choice of nine to choose from, they are The Champion, The Trickster, The Bombardier, The Deacon, The Thespian, The Vizier, The Guardian, The Vanguard an The Sentinel. Each has customizable sets of ability and animations but share the similar behavior overall.

While both the sets of maps and characters can be used from the outset, the abilities that are available in the BETA are limited to start with. The rest must be unlocked by increasing the rank of your character. These abilities are similar to the ones in AC Brotherhood except minor improvements have been made based on fan feedback. Abilities available are: Morph, Poison, Smoke Bomb, Throwing Knives, Fire Crackers, Disguise and the new ones are Closure and Tripwire Bomb.

Lastly there are four modes available, these are Artefact Assault and Deathmatch which are new and Manhunt and Wanted. They are all available from the start and the new modes were designed based on fan feedback again.

Will you be downloading the BETA for your PS3 soon?

Pre-orders for one of the most anticipated games of the year have begun and Ubisoft has been doing their best to entice people into buying Assassin’s Creed Revelations with a choice of collector’s editions available. We previously brought you details and prices for those editions and today we can elaborate on some of the extra in-game content available.

Most intriguing of all the extra content is the animated short film that will launch the same time as the game called Assassin’s Creed: Embers, Ezio’s coda. It provides the final chapter to an engrossing story that has spanned over four decades, bringing to a conclusion the life of master assassin Ezio Auditore. Frail and aged the assassin has seemingly settled down and started a family but is aware that at any moment his past could catch up with him so is constantly on guard.

The movie Embers was developed by UbiWorkshop and all the animations are computer generated, which as you can see from the film trailer below is very effective. There are several ways in which consumers are able to get their hands on short, firstly it will come as part of the content with both the Collector’s Edition and Animus Edition of the game Revelations which we previously mentioned. It also will be available for digital download via the PlayStation Network and the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Another interesting extra that has also been announced is the graphic novel called Assassin’s Creed: The Chain, according to The Independent it is the follow on from The Fall. brought to us from The Eisner award-winning Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl, it carries on the adventures of Soviet Russia assassin Nikolai Orelov and descendant from 1998 Daniel Cross. No exact date has been given for the release of this comic however the full run of The Fall is being compiled for the November Collector’s Edition of Revelations.

Since the Assassin’s Creed saga began in 2007, the company has managed to shift more than 28 million of copies the games worldwide, cementing its place amongst the best selling franchises available on consoles so far. This may explain why so much effort is being put into the next title; it could be the company’s way of giving something back to the fans for being so loyal. Be sure to check out the trailer for Embers below and feel free to let us know your thoughts.

Will you be getting either of the Assassin’s Creed Revelations special edition collections available?

Are you undecided on whether or not you want to buy the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations game when it makes its way into stores worldwide later this year? If you answered that question with a yes, then I think we have information that could well sway your decision.

According to a recent article by Matt Lees over on the oxm.co.uk website, developer and publisher Ubisoft has just revealed details on three different Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Special Editions. This includes the Collector’s Edition, the Animus Edition and the Special Edition.

If you choose to purchase the Collector’s Edition of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations you will receive the Collector box (break its Assassin seal to reveal its contents), the original game soundtrack, the Assassin’s Creed Embers Movie and art book featuring 50 pages of concept art and illustrations.

That isn’t all you get either, as you will also receive some in-game content including the ability to play as two additional multiplayer characters. Meanwhile, the Animus Edition includes the original game soundtrack, the Assassin’s Creed Embers Movie and an in-depth encyclopedia.

This edition also comes with some in-game content, including capacity upgrades for your hidden gun bullets, crossbow arrows and bombs and one exclusive customization item. Finally, the Special Edition comes with exclusive packaging, the soundtrack and in-game content.

Are you tempted by any of the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations special editions?

Last week we provided our readers with the very first screen and details for the much-anticipated Assassin’s Creed: Revelations game, including a release window and what platforms it would be released for. Now we have just discovered that even more details have surfaced online.

According to a recent article by Mike Jackson over on the computerandvideogames.com website, the new details come courtesy of the latest issue of Game Informer magazine. As the article notes, Ezio will be searching for seals in the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations game.

These seals are said to hold memories of Altair, and will enable Ezio to glimpse into Altair’s life. Although the bulk of the new game takes place in Constantinople, players will also be visiting Cappadocia. Constantinople will be split into 4 districts: Imperial, Galata, Beyazid and Constantin.

Players will also discover that Ezio – who will be over 50 years of age in the next instalment – has a new item called the hookblade in Revelations. The hookblade not only enables Ezio to use ziplines throughout the city, but he can also use it to reach out and pull his enemies in for a combo.

Ezio will also be able to make bombs through a new crafting system and according to Ubisoft; there are over 300 different bomb types. Fans will also notice that the assassin levelling mechanic has now been increased from 10 to 15 in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

We told you a couple of days ago about what could be the name for the next installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. It was thought the new game could be called Revelations after a publicity stunt on Facebook was pulled at the last minute. But Ubisoft has now put a video teaser on Facebook of Assassin’s Creed Revelations.

According to Mic Wright of Electricpig an Assassin’s Creed Facebook page has appeared, and it is promising if enough people press the Like button will reveal a secret about the game. The video which you can see below shows a fortress in the background.

This new video tease shows the hand of an assassin that has a hidden blade fully extended. It is not known if this is the hand of Altair, or even a completely new assassin. The end of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, revealed a number of glyphs which included one that hinted at the French Revolution.

The video has some text which appears to be in Arabic with some dates which appear to fit with Altair and Ezio’s timelines, from the other installments of the games. Assassin’s Creed 4 has been promised previously to be available before E3 in May.
