We’re happy that there appears to be a great feeling amongst the community with regards to the next Assassin’s Creed 3 game. Ubisoft may be trying hard to achieve the same amount of popularity with their Ghost Recon franchise, but it looks like they really have hit their stride with Assassin’s Creed 3.

So far we’re yet to see any negative reaction to the game, based on screenshots and the last trailer shown for the game. Now we get a first glimpse at actual gameplay graphics for the next title and it still looks top notch. Some of the close-up kills look really brutal and despite the fact that the game takes place during the American revolution, we see a short clip where Connor is basically free running through an apartment – it looks great.

It looks like Ubisoft won’t be holding back on the violence either, which will probably be very pleasing to Assassin’s Creed veterans. Be prepared for a lot of gruesome stealth kills using tomahawks, daggers and whatever else Connor can get hold of in that period of history.

Has there ever been more anticipation for an Assassin’s Creed game like we’re seeing here? As we mentioned above, it’s nice to see Ubisoft getting a bit of positive limelight for a change, especially after dodgy games such as the Michael Jackson Experience – sorry.

In a surprising revelation, Ubisoft’s Alex Hutchinson, creative director for Assassin’s Creed 3 has spoken in a recent interview with GameSpy on how they are ‘not planning to invest’ in a keyboard and mouse setup for the PC Version of the game.

While there will definitely be support for this, he went on to say that using a controller for the PC version will be more ideal. Naturally those who played Assassin’s Creed 2 on PC using a mouse and keyboard will object to this, but at the end of the day – the option will still be there to use mouse and keyboard if you prefer.

PC users are still in the dark on when their version will actually release. Ubisoft has committed to an October release on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but we could see a reality where the PC version actually releases around the same time as the confirmed Nintendo Wii U release.

Combine this with the infamous DRM-issues involving Assassin’s Creed games on the PC, it does seem to suggest that Ubisoft are making no secret of their priorities towards console versions. The game is due out in October on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with a Nintendo Wii U version also confirmed to be in the pipeline. It looks like you’re in for a difficult decision to make though, as Ubisoft has offered up some tasty goodies for hardcore fans who are looking for that little bit extra.

Aside from the standard Assassin’s Creed 3 retail version, you’ll also be able to pick up a Special Edition, a Join or Die Edition and the most premium of all, the Freedom Edition. The Special Edition contains an extra single-player mission on top of the standard edition, while the Join or Die version contains an Assassin’s Creed medallion, a George Washington notebook, one extra single-player mission and also one multiplayer package called The Sharpshooter which grants you a special in-game title.

Finally, the Freedom Edition is the best of the lot and like the limited edition of Skyrim, you’ll get a high quality figurine for your money – this one being a 24cm model of main protagonist Connor. Aside from all of the goodies featured in the Join or Die edition, you’ll also get a steel book case art, a lithograph and an extra single-player mission on top, so two in total.

There’s no official pricing yet for the three packs as they will vary depending on retailers, but we have already noticed that some retailers already have a few listings online. UK retailer Play has put up a £57.99 price for the Join or Die edition of the game, while EB Games in Australia are claiming that they have an ‘exclusive’ on the Freedom edition and that you’ll have to pay $128 for it. Check the respective links for full details on both.

Will you be forking out for the Freedom edition to get that figurine of Connor for your collection? $128 is a lot of money for some though, so let us know which version you are intending to get. It may be worth holding out a while before you pre-order as better deals will probably become available in the weeks to come.

After Ubisoft unveiled an initial batch of screenshots for the upcoming game, we thought at the time that this is the finest that an Assassin’s Creed game has ever looked. However, there is one new screenshot in particular that has been released which is nothing short of mindblowing, and just shows how far Ubisoft have developed their graphics engine since AC1. The image we’re talking about is another wilderness shot and shows the new hero Connor dealing with members of the British army with a beautiful backdrop.

The screenshots have been uploaded to leak specialists All Games Beta and trace back to Spanish site GremiodelasSombras. We’re guessing that Ubisoft are planning to make these official soon, but since they have now been plastered all over the internet, we may even see high resolution versions of the shots later on today.

There’s six new images in total, with each showing off a different location setting within the American Revolution storyline. There’s even a fantastic shot showing Connor in a canoe, which also blew us away when we saw it for the first time. Obviously these are not going to be in-game graphics, but we’ll be happy seeing this kind of quality during cutscenes.

Let’s hope it won’t be too long until we see the very first gameplay trailer for the game. We have a feeling that Ubisoft may keep us waiting until E3 2012 for this, but we don’t mind waiting as long as they keep these frequent screenshots coming. As expected, Assassin’s Creed 3 is being developed for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC but Ubisoft has confirmed the surprising news that the game will also be coming to Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console as well. A date of October 31 2012 has been set in place for the console and PC versions, but it remains to be seen if this relates to the Wii U version as well – we doubt it.

A trailer released once again confirms that the game will take place during the American Revolution, with the main character now revealed as Ratohnhake:ton (pronounced Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo), or Connor for short. He has been introduced as a Native American, with his mother being American but having an English background due to his father.

We see much more of the forest elements of the game that we first saw in some leaked screenshots yesterday, and there’s one scene in particular where we see Connor almost ‘free running’ on some trees which will probably get a lot of you talking. The game looks fantastic in our opinion, although we’ve read that some of you are not too impressed by some of the facial models seen on some of the characters.

With a Wii U version on the way too – does that perhaps suggest that it could end up being the best version compared to the other three? Nobody knows for sure what hardware will be included in the Wii U, so we have a sneaky suspicion that the Wii U version is going to be one to look out for.

We told you in our last report that Game Informer were planning to unveil a ton of information on the game as soon as Ubisoft unveil the game first later today. Assassin’s Creed 3 will be the game on the cover of their next issue, but screenshots which are thought to be contained in the magazine are now available for viewing.

First of all, you’ll be pleased to hear that the game looks absolutely lovely. We know that the game will be set during the American Revolution and screenshots we’ve seen show the mystery protagonist in unfamiliar territory, such as forests and high up in the trees whilst sneaking on campsites below in spectacular fashion.

We admit we were a bit skeptical after we first heard about the game being set during the American Revolution, but after seeing these first images – we can’t wait to see some gameplay footage and more details on the new main character. It really does look like a breath of fresh air for the series and you’ll probably be surprised as well once you’ve seen the pictures. We won’t upload them here, but if you want an early look at the game, you can check out the images over at All Games Beta here. Don’t forget that a full reveal is expected in a matter of hours once the countdown reaches 0 on the Ubisoft site.

The game will feature a new protagonist, who Ubisoft promise to unveil in full on Monday March 5th dead on the 5pm mark. Take a look at the website here, you can just feel that it is counting down to something special.

An Assassin’s Creed game set in the 18th century is getting everyone talking at the moment, while further teases from the next cover of Game Informer only ignite speculation further. There’s been a lot of debate whether an American Revolution setting for the game is a good idea, but the images we have seen so far look fantastic so we can’t wait to see what Ubisoft has to say on Monday.

Let’s hope that their unveil includes a teaser trailer and won’t be just a reveal via text. Along with the countdown, Ubisoft has made the somewhat surprise decision to release the official box art for Assassin’s Creed 3 very early. The PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions all feature the same art, but below is the PC version just to give you an idea.

Are you a die hard Assassin’s Creed fan? According to CVG the latest issue of the UK magazine PSM3 features the image, linking it to the game that is expected to follow another release that’s scheduled to appear next year. For those that are unfamiliar with the image in question, it is of a man who appears to be dressed like an assassin standing in a seemingly Egyptian desert (judging from the pyramids in the background) with an eagle flying beside him.

Ubisoft is yet to confirm anything, as we previously stated, and claimed last year that the piece ‘represents an Assassin imagined by the artist and was created for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Encyclopedia’ and was used to commemorate the launch of the website. The reason for the sudden spark in rumors involving this image again seems to have something to do with the ending of the latest game, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. If you do not wish for the end of the game to be spoilt for you, we suggest you do not read on.

At the end of Revelations Altair’s son, Darim says he is taking some of the Assassin’s books to the ancient capital of Egypt, Alexandria. Whether or not this is a massive hint as to where the next game will be set or just a red herring remains to be seen.
