Later tonight Sony will be releasing the PS Vita in other regions outside of Japan for the first time. We have already given you details about some midnight launch plans for the device. We now have a PS Vita price comparison that includes Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury.

Just over a week ago we rounded up some of the best bundle deals available for the PS Vita via some online retailers. But there are some great deals to be had if you want to pop down to your local supermarket. Just like big game releases the buying power of the big supermarkets is showing with some of the prices for the device.

First up what could be the cheapest price available is Asda, who have the Wi-Fi only version of the PS Vita listed for only £197. You only get the console and nothing else for that price except but it’s still pretty impressive. There will be stores open at midnight for you to pick up the device and at that price stock could run out pretty quickly.

Rival store Tesco have the same Wi-Fi version priced at £229.91 but are also listing a bundle deal for £249.80. In the bundle you will also get a 4GB PS Vita memory card along with a choice of a game from a selection that includes FIFA Football, Asphalt Injection, F1 2011, Virtual Tennis 4, and Rayman Origins.

Sainsbury’s have the PS Vita Wi-Fi version listed at £229.99 with no special incentives on offer like it does when launching new game titles. All the major branches of the supermarkets are open 24 hours so you should be able to pick one up tonight.

For memory cards Asda is listing the 16GB version at £37, while Tesco has it priced at £39.91. The 4GB versions are priced at £15 and £19.89 respectively. Many of you will have already preordered your PS Vita from an online retailer so can look forward to a delivery tomorrow, unless it came early and you are busy playing already.

Where will you be getting the PS Vita and what launch titles are you getting?

The price of technology has dropped significantly in recent years, and none more so in the home entertainment sector. TVs and other items such as Blu-ray players are cheaper than ever before as manufacturers and retailers try and tempt us to part with our cash. Today we have news of the Asda Luxor LUX-40-914-TVB 40-inch HDTV that is going for a song.

Leading up to Christmas we told you about the Blu-ray player the retailer was selling for only £40, and then they offered a HDTV for only £50. Now if you fancy a full HDTV the company is selling the Luxor unit for only £250, according to Cnet.

It offers 1080p HD viewing in a 40-inch screen that will certainly not break the bank, and will be ideal for connecting up that affordable Blu-ray player you got before Christmas. It may not be the best LCD TV you can buy, but for your money you get the standard built-in Freeview tuner, two HDMI inputs, two scart sockets, AV input, Component input, and even comes with a table top stand.

Even with the low price the Luxor TV has a number of favorable reviews from customers who have already purchased it. Many have commented that for the money it still looks stylish and is easy to set up. There have been some who have said the sound is a bit skinny though, which is common with many LCD TV sets.

Currently though online the TV is showing out of stock but your local store may have some available. Do think the Luxor is a worthy bargain?

Home entertainment technology has dropped a lot in price in recent years, as large screen TV sets and equipment that is connected to them become more affordable. Since the old CRT television sets started to disappear from our homes and stores, their replacements have fallen dramatically. Today we have news that Asda are to sell an HDTV for what some people spend on a HDMI cable.

Only last month we told you about the supermarket giant selling an affordable Blu-ray player for only £40. Now according to an article over at TechRadar the retailer is going to offer consumers an HDTV to connect it to for only £50.

The HDTV will be available from the 26th of this month as the post Christmas sales kick off, and the TV could stop all those arguments on what to watch this time of year. For your money you get the 15.6-inch Venturer TV that comes with 720p resolution.

Ideal for a kitchen or a small room you also get a built-in Freeview tuner, one HDMI input, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, and stereo sound. The screen is a backlit LED display that may not be the best TV you can buy but for the money you can’t really go wrong.

Expect to see the little Venturer to quickly fly off the shelves this coming Monday, and if you don’t fancy facing the rush and the crowds you could always try Asda’s online store. Remember the £50 Venturer is available from the 26th so good luck if you are planning on purchasing one.

Are you going to try and purchase the £50 Venturer?

This Christmas will see more people join the eReader platform as the market grows bigger all the time. There are a growing number of devices available to consumers now, and an eReader price war is underway as Asda undercuts the Kindle with free books as well.

The technology is ideal for users of all ages to enjoy while reading their favorite books. Apples iPad and the Amazon Kindle are probably the biggest players in the market, but there are plenty of alternatives available. According to IT Portal supermarket giant Asda is set to offer the Kobo Wi-Fi eReader for only £67.

This compares to the £87 that will get you the Amazon Kindle and comes only a few weeks after rival retailer WHSmith announced plans to sell a Kobo eReader. The Asda device will be available in-store and online from this Friday, but there is a good chance it will sell out really quick. The device is only 10mm in thickness and comes with 100 classic titles preloaded as well.

The retailer is also going to offer customers the Touch version of the Kobo eReader for £107. It is being reported that book retailer Waterstones is also getting in on the eReader market as well. The Kobo doesn’t have such a large library of titles available though, and it is unlikely they will be cheaper than Amazon’s offerings.

Prices for the titles have remained surprisingly high and are normally set by the publishers, and can even cost up to £11.99 in eBook format. Will you be buying someone an eReader this Christmas?

The weekly chore of grocery shopping can be difficult for some people with the busy lives we live these days. This is why revolutionary ways in which we approach the weekly shop are becoming more convenient, like online shopping and delivery, making it possible to get on with the rest of our lives. Now Asda has launched an even more convenient way of shopping with their new transactional iPhone app.

The UK supermarket giant can now be accessed through your mobile device. Much like with regular online shopping customers can now browse and price check all products from the store’s website online using their smartphone. They can amend existing orders whether its delivery slots or adding items up until the night before their delivery is due by 10pm.

The app also features a scanner function which enables customers to simply scan the barcode of a product they already have if they wish to order it again, adding it to their basket instantly to save them searching the whole inventory to find it. It also features an integration of Asda’s Price Guarantee which lets customers compare the prices of about 14,000 of their products against products from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrison’s. This ensures that if a customer does find a product cheaper elsewhere they get refunded the difference plus a penny.

The app will also feature directions and maps with a store locator, enabling customers to pinpoint their nearest Asda supermarket and see what their opening and closing times are, as well as what services and key information they have on offer. The app was reportedly created to cater for the 60% of online shoppers who do so using their iPhone. The convenience of being able to do a weekly chore whilst on the move is something that is bound to be appealing to a lot of people, particularly parents.

Will you be doing your weekly shop online using the Asda iPhone app from now on?

Yesterday we gave you the news that Blu-ray players were set to outsell DVD players for the first time this Christmas. This has been lead by cheaper Blu-ray titles and the falling price of the actual players themselves. Today we have the Asda ONN DS-BD52 Blu-ray player that has been launched that will aide the DVD takeover.

The Asda ONN DS-BD52 Blu-ray player may not be the best player available, but for the low price it is a good way for consumers to enter the Blu-ray platform. It could even be a good buy to have in the bedroom or for the children to have. Currently at £40 it is the cheapest unit of its kind available in the country unless rival retailers get in on the act.

Feature wise it has one HDMI output alongside composite video, digital coaxial audio, and an Ethernet port. There is also a USB 2.0 port but this is for firmware upgrades and not media playing. Besides playing Blu-ray discs it will also playback standard DVD, with WMAs and JPEGs can be played back via DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW.

The unit is set to be available in Asda’s larger stores and online, but at the time of writing there is no sign of it on the retailer’s online store. As we are getting closer to Christmas it is likely to sell out pretty quick, so if you are thinking of getting one get to your local store now. After looking at some other retailers such as Argos and Curry’s, the cheapest they have a Blu-ray player for is £70.

Will you be purchasing the Asda Blu-ray player?

We recently told you that more consumers were purchasing a big new blockbuster movie on Blu-ray compared to the DVD platform. This trend looks to continue with the news that Blu-ray players are set to outstrip DVD player sales this Christmas according to a major retailer.

Leading UK supermarket Asda, who are owned by Walmart thinks sales of Blu-ray players will be bigger than those of DVD players this holiday season. TechRadar is reporting that the retailer is going to focus more on the HD format.

The retailer feels the reason why it has taken the platform five years to really flourish is “more subtle, though significant, difference in image quality“, but the tipping point has now been reached in Asda’s eyes. Vision expert from Asda Wayne Steenson said that a bigger amount of homes in the UK now have the ability to enjoy the platform, and the company is “pleased to be offering Blu-Ray players at the lowest price in the market.”

Consumers can pick up a Blu-ray player in the store for only £40 via the ONN branded unit offering a cheap entry into the platform. The Blu-ray platform managed to shrug off the competition it once had from the HD-DVD format that is now extinct, and is now making headway into the market. There are consumers now though who like to download HD versions of films as new TVs become connected directly to the net.

The platform has been helped by the lower prices of the movies that were once a lot more expensive than the DVD equivalent. But now you often see retailers selling Blu-ray movies at a reduced rate only a few weeks after first becoming available. Are you planning on purchasing a Blu-ray player this Christmas?

It’s that time of year again when companies start taking advantage of the festive season in order to boost the sales of their products by lowering their prices and offering special deals. Nintendo is one company that likes to find different ways to boost their sales all year round. This year the price of their Wii console has fallen to an all-time low and will now be available for just £89.

As far as we know the offer is only available at Asda, one of the leading supermarkets in the UK, and is part of a ‘Wii Family Edition’ deal that will give customers the newly configured white Wii console plus two games, which are Wii Party and Wii Sports, one controller and a nunchuck. The offer is being advertised in newspapers as of yesterday and comes after MCV, the trading magazine, had reported that retailers would be dropping the console to as little as £79 to boost sales for the season.

The new consoles are almost identical to the first edition versions except rather than sitting vertically, they sit horizontally and they no longer support backwards compatibility with GameCube accessories or software, unlike the original versions. As MCV explains Asda are also offering discounts on several chart games including Just Dance 3, Kinect Sports: Season Two, F1 2011 and Dead Island.

If you do not already own a Nintendo Wii console then now is the time to get one. The deal offers great value for money and the Wii Family Edition will be perfect for finding things to do while surrounded by loved ones in the upcoming holidays, as the games appeal to people of all ages with a range of interests. What do you think of this deal? Will you be getting a Wii Console this Christmas?

If you a resident in the UK and have lots of unwanted tech just lying around gathering dust, a new avenue has just became available for you to get shot of it and earn some money in the process. Wal-Mart owned Asda has now launched an electrical gadget trade-in service.

What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision are reporting the new service promises not to be beaten on by price by Boots, Envirofone, Mazuma, Sainsbury’s and Tesco. Consumers will be able to trade in old cell phones, MP3s, digital cameras, sat-navs, and handheld games consoles. With the price promise if you can prove the price given by Asda was not the highest within 24 hours, Asda will pay you the difference.

From next month consumers will be able to trade in larger goods such as games consoles, laptops and tablets. Freepost Jiffy bags will be provided in Asda stores for consumers to post their goods off. You can go to the online page for the service now and get instant prices for your old tech.

The company says there are around eleven million unwanted digital cameras and nine million old PCs, just sitting around not being used. A working Sony PSP will get you £15.01 and a Nintendo DS Lite fetches £6.01.

Do you have much unwanted tech?

It was only a couple of days ago that we reported of Samsung’s new Galaxy Tabs. The new devices are bigger than the original with 8.9 and 10.1 inch screen sizes. But just before the release of the new iPad 2 in the UK, we have news of the original Galaxy Tab being slashed in price.

Wal-Mart owned British supermarket giant Asda has dropped the price of the tablet PC to below £300, according to a report on Reg Hardware by Tony Smith. The offer appears to be only online and is reduced from £497 down to £299.

Now we don’t know how much stock of the Android 2.2 powered device Asda might have, but it’s a pretty good price for those who can’t afford the iPad 2 when it comes out tomorrow. Of course specs wise it doesn’t compare to the Apple tablet, but you are still getting quite a lot for your money.

You can pick up the base model of the iPad 2 for £100 more, but some consumers may like the 7-inch screen size of the Galaxy Tab.

Is this price low enough to tempt you to buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab? Tell us what you think.

More About: Asda, Samsung Galaxy Tab
