The big day is less than five weeks away and today we have news that Apple will be holding a one day sale across the world this coming Friday.

The company has started to put teaser pages on its online stores for what it calls the “one-day shopping event”, which according to an article on AppleInsider is to take place around the world this Friday. Unfortunately there are no details currently of what deals are to be had in what is normally the busiest time of year for the retail trade.

In the US the sale coincides with Black Friday that is normally the biggest shopping day of the year in the country. Apple is saying though that consumers will discover “amazing iPad, iPod and Mac gifts” for the one day sale. The teaser page in question has surfaced on the company’s online stores in Australia, Italy, and the US and UK stores.

Last year there were some small savings to be had with $101 knocked off the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac. We also saw $41 knocked off the iPad with the iPad getting a $21 discount, while the iPod Nano saw $11 dropped from the price.

There were also some small deals to be had on accessories such as the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpads among other items. Hopefully given the current state of the world economy Apple might offer consumers bigger discount this year, but it’s not as if their products are not selling well despite that.

Previously other retailers have offered lower prices on Apple products during the holiday season, and in the coming days we may see some nice discounts to be had. Are you planning on taking advantage of the one day sale by Apple?

It is not known what we will see in the coming days with various reports claiming different things. But what are Apple stores gearing up for?

Neil Hughes of AppleInsider is wondering if it’s just the annual back-to-school promotion which is set to start next week. Last year the Apple promotion started on May 25 so would fit in with that. Students and educational faculty’s had the chance last year of getting a free 8GB iPod Touch when buying a Mac.

Meanwhile Jonathan S.Geller from BGR is reporting of claims that say that Apple have been installing NFC payment systems into its stores. The debate has been going on for a while whether the NFC capability will make it onto the next iPhone, but if Apple is indeed installing the systems at its retails stores an NFC iPhone must be coming at some point.

It will be interesting to see what Apple does have planned for its stores if anything. Will they surprise everyone with the launch of a new product? What do you think Apple is planning?

This coming Thursday is the Apple Retail 10th anniversary, and it is looking like the company may have something big planned.

Jonathan S. Geller from BGR is reporting that they have received information that Apple may be planning something big this Thursday to celebrate its anniversary in retail. Employees of the retail stores have been told that no time off can be booked between May 20th and 22nd. Store managers are said to be very excited about the dates.

Each store is also requiring 10 to 15 staff to work through Saturday until Sunday, and during the overnight shift all of the staff have to lock their cell phones in the main office of each store. The stores have allegedly received hardware to install with more coming on Friday or Saturday. Stores are also to be blanked out with blackout curtains.

There is said to be mandatory meetings with staff on Sunday which are normally for training with a new product or service. Staff are required to sign an NDA with Apple, and has had to download gigabytes of information from Apple that won’t be accessible to anyone until Saturday afternoon.

This all seems very cloak and dagger by Apple, but what are they planning. Could they be about to shock the tech world with a new product launch? Could we see a new iPhone or Mac? Maybe it could have something to do with the music cloud service the company has been rumored to be planning.
