Our previous article was quite vague in terms of specs, however we now have some more in-depth information to share with you, sadly at the time of this post we still have no idea of a price, therefore we will have to keep you up-to-date as we hear more.

Let’s quickly give you a run though of the P220′s specs (according to Electronista), apparently there will be second-gen Intel Core i5 processor options, Intel HD Graphics 3000, up to 4GB of memory, WiFi b/g/n, Ethernet, HDMI-out, a larger touchpad than its predecessor, a 4-in-1 card reader, Bluetooth 2.0 and an 12.5-inch widescreen IPS display with an impressive 178 degree viewing angle. We do not know the battery capacity, but we are told that 5.5 hours of usage is expected from a single charge.

It seems as if a lot has been lost in translation from the LG Korea press release, but we believe that there could be both SATA2 and SATA3 support and perhaps a 128GB solid-state drive offering – we will have to keep you posted as more becomes clear.

In terms of design we believe that the P220 is just .82 inches thick and weighs just 2.9 pounds – below we have embedded some images which showcase its impressive design, there will be three color options available, these are: White Pearl, Pink Pearl, and Blue Pearl, as you can see the coloring is quite subtle which is nice.

As we hear more information regarding pricing and U.S / UK release dates we will keep you posted. To be a success we think that it will be priced competitively, yes the design is nice, but performance is what is really important. Incedently we think the white model seen in the image below looks a lot like the recently scrapped Apple Macbook, what do you think?

Future MacBook Specs, Rumors Suggest ARM Will Replace Intel http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/06/future-macbook-specs-rumors-suggest-arm-will-replace-intel/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/06/future-macbook-specs-rumors-suggest-arm-will-replace-intel/#comments Fri, 06 May 2011 14:53:03 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=129955 If you check out Apple’s current MacBooks, MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros you will see that all of them come with Intel processors, well this could be a thing of the past as we are hearing that future MacBooks may features ARM processors instead.

According to a recent article posted on SlashGear Apple may be looking to switch over to ARM-based chips in 2013, it is hard to say whether SlashGear’s sources are reliable, however it kicks off an interesting debate none-the-less.

Over the last year or so we have seen ARM processors come on leaps and bounds, with low power consumption, fast performance and small size in their favor we can see why Apple may be interested in switching across.

At the moment the ARM processors are not powerful enough to run Mac OS X on par with an Intel chip, however there are talks of an quad-core ARM chip coming in the future, if this arrives it should be able to cope with modern-day operating systems.

Apple’s A4 and A5 SoCs both feature ARM CPUs and the new iPad 2 shows just what ARM processors are capable of, therefore it does not sound too far-fetched to see MacBook’s using ARM chips in the future.

Do you think that ARM processors will dominate desktops and notebooks in the future?

New MacBook Pro SKUs on Best Buy Confirm Release and Price http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/20/new-macbook-pro-skus-on-best-buy-confirm-release-and-price/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/20/new-macbook-pro-skus-on-best-buy-confirm-release-and-price/#comments Sun, 20 Feb 2011 17:54:23 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=122616 Lately we have been posting a lot of new MacBook Pro release rumors, however there has been no solid evidence supporting the refresh, today we have had a breakthrough as Best Buy has added new MacBook Pro SKUs to their laptop configurator, this news was recently reported by Engadget.

You can check out the Best Buy laptop configurator for yourself here, if you sort by brand A-Z and then click on “Premium” you will see new Apple models without photos, two of which are called “New SKU H” whilst another is called “New SKU I”.

The two “New SKU H” variants are priced at $1,799.99 and $2,199.99, whilst the “New SKU I” model is priced at $2,499.99, therefore it is thought that the latter is the 17-inch models, whilst the “H” models are 15-inch models, below we have embedded an image showing you one of these new SKUs, as you can see no specs are listed, however it does state that online and in-store availability is “coming soon”.

You can see our roundup of all of the MacBook Pro 2011 rumors here, Best Buy’s new SKU listings are the most solid evidence we have seen so far, hopefully we will find out more soon.

What specs do you expect from a $2,499.99 MacBook Pro?

New Macbook Air: 11-inch Upgrade – A Personal Review http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/05/new-macbook-air-11-inch-upgrade-a-personal-review/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/05/new-macbook-air-11-inch-upgrade-a-personal-review/#comments Thu, 04 Nov 2010 23:27:16 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=112772 We were not shocked when Steve Jobs announced the new 11.6-inch MacBook Air last month, but we were surprised at just how thin Apple made it. People have now had time to spend with the small laptop device – Steve don’t like it called a netbook – and now someone has offered a personal review.

Harry McCracken from Technologizer, writes on PC World that he loved netbooks and Mac devices, but they never did one smaller than 13 inches. However, just over one and a half weeks ago Apple answered McCracken’ prayers and delivered to him this 11.6-inch device.

This meant that he was now able to go back to the small size of a netbook, but with much more performance at his disposal. He states that although this is the closet thing to a netbook, it does not hold back in any way like most of those small 10-inch laptops do.

The processor used is the 1.4-GHz Core 2 Duo, this will not set benchtests alight, but much better than those Atom CPUs used. The 11.6-inch model is like the old Air, as it still has no SD Card reader, unlike the new 13.3-inch version.

There are a number of ways where Apple could improve on the design of the smaller MacBook Air. Harry says that Apple should offer a plastic case design and bring the price down – but we know that Apple are not about compromising in both those areas.

For a complete personal review of the 11.6-inch MacBook Air visit PC World.

MacBook Air Review: Battery Performance and Connectivity http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/21/macbook-air-review-battery-performance-and-connectivity/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/21/macbook-air-review-battery-performance-and-connectivity/#comments Thu, 21 Oct 2010 14:56:56 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=111669 Steve Jobs did his best to convince us that we need a new MacBook Air device, and that we now have a choice between a refresh of the 13.3-inch model and a new 11.6-inch version. During his keynote, Jobs discussed a couple of key features on the devices, battery performance and connectivity.

So let us review these new features and see what Apple has done behind the scenes. The current MacBook Air will last up to 5 hours at a push, but I have never managed to achieve that. The new 11-inch model is expected to offer 5 hours and 7 hours on the 13-inch model.

Both sizes are said to last up to 30 days when in standby – now this is something that would be worth upgrading for. Steve Jobs said that these new Air’s are very green – meaning that power consumption is kept to a minimum.

Connectivity wise things have been improved, but let us take a look at the 13.3-inch version, as this is the one that we already have some experience with. The current version has one USB port, Mini DisplayPort, Headphone Socket and a MagSafe. The new model has all of the above but offers an extra USB port and the much-needed addition of an SD Card reader.

Just those two extra features alone would make things a whole lot easier, as I would not have to carry an external card reader or my camera lead around with me. Are these or the other new features enough to make you purchase the new MacBook Air? For more details visit the Apple website.

New MacBook Air 11.6-inch: Specs For Refresh http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/20/new-macbook-air-11-6-inch-specs-for-refresh/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/20/new-macbook-air-11-6-inch-specs-for-refresh/#comments Wed, 20 Oct 2010 13:37:59 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=111559 With just hours to go until Steve Jobs takes to the stage to delivery his keynote during the Back to the Mac event, we now have word that a new 11.6-inch MacBook Air will be unveiled. Below we will give you some of the spec details of the small Air netbook.

Do not worry, as Steve is still likely to announce details of a refresh of the 13.3-inch version, which is long overdue for a hardware bump. Thomas Ricker from Engadget has learned these details from a trusted source, so feels confident of the news.

So we know that it will have that smaller 11.6-inch display, the so-called Apple netbook will come with a choice of 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with a possibility to upgrade to 2.33GHz. We do not know what kind of storage device it will offer, but maybe this will be in conjunction with an SD Card, as a card reader and 2 USB ports will now be included.

Those of you who are not a fan of the current trackpad will be pleased to know that the smaller MacBook Air will now come with the same one used on the MacBook Pro range. This is all speculation, but the evidence is certainly pointing to a new smaller Air.

What hardware would you like to see in the new 11.6-inch Apple MacBook Air?

New MacBook Air 2010: Faster CPU or Less Heat Issues? http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/08/25/new-macbook-air-2010-faster-cpu-or-less-heat-issues/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/08/25/new-macbook-air-2010-faster-cpu-or-less-heat-issues/#comments Wed, 25 Aug 2010 17:00:59 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=107254 Earlier today we spoke about the possibility of a new generation of MacBook Airs being revealed at Apple‘s September keynote, therefore we thought we would get some feedback to see what it is that consumers really want.

One problem with the current MacBook Air models is that they run extremely hot when used for extensive multimedia tasks, therefore we want to know what you is your biggest priority, fast performance or cooler operation?

It is fair to say that the Core 2 Duos available in MacBook Airs today are somewhat lacking, therefore a refresh is needed, however the relatively slow (for today’s high standards) Core 2 Duo chips seem to suffer cooling problems in the MacBook Air’s ultrathin chassis, therefore a faster chip could suffer even worse problems.

We would like some feedback on this matter to see what you would like, therefore feel free to fill out our simple poll below.
[poll id="216"]

Own a MacBook Air? If so, what changes would you like to see? Let us know in the comments section below.

Apple MacBook with 3G built in, Verizon’s tiny MiFi not enough http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/01/18/apple-macbook-with-3g-built-in-verizons-tiny-mifi-not-enough/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/01/18/apple-macbook-with-3g-built-in-verizons-tiny-mifi-not-enough/#comments Mon, 18 Jan 2010 09:47:54 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=92658 For those of you who own a MacBook Pro or Air, then you will know what I am talking about when I say how cool these portable computers are. However, there is a downside, and that is the lack of built-in 3G. There is a solution for now, Verizon’s tiny MiFi, but most would agree that it is not enough.

Apple are shooting themselves in the foot, there are a number of people who are choosing to purchase a HP or Dell laptop when they would rather have a new aluminum MacBook, but the lack of 3G is a real pain. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel as Apple is considering an upgrade to its Pro line to include 3G.

For now MacBook owners have to use something like Verizon’s tiny MiFi device, but it is not a solution favored by them. Cnet News believes that 3G should be a standard in MacBook’s as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is. The website adds that if it were to happen, then it should not be an AT&T only deal.

If you visit a number of stores you will see cheap netbooks with built-in 3G, so why is Apple so late to the party? Cnet News believes that the reason for this is because customers are demanding it; this is not something that Apple customers are desperate for.

Although, you have to wonder why a huge number of people are using the iPhone 3GS to gain access to the Internet, surely it has to be something that MacBook users would want. I know I would, it does become a pain when you are not in a Wi-Fi hotspot and you need to gain access to the Internet, have you ever tried to work on an iPhone before?

For a more detailed look into this story visit Cnet News.

Apple MacBook Shot Dead by Israeli Border Security http://www.product-reviews.net/2009/12/15/apple-macbook-shot-dead-by-israeli-border-security/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2009/12/15/apple-macbook-shot-dead-by-israeli-border-security/#comments Tue, 15 Dec 2009 15:14:13 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=91377 If you decide to visit Jerusalem, then just make certain that you backup your content on your laptop. A young American woman was glad that she did just that as her Apple MacBook Air met its maker, as it was shot dead by Israeli Border Security. I suppose it was better than being blown up.

It all started when the young lady was pulled in by Israeli security officers and hounded her for more than two hours with questions. She was then asked a number of questions, did she have a boyfriend, was he Arab, Egyptian, Palestinian? This is unconfirmed and we only have the young ladies word on it, but needless to say it was the MacBook that took the blame.

The security officer’s told her that her laptop had to be blown up, as you would imagine she was in total shock about losing her MacBook and the loss of all that data. She was then taken to see the mess that awaited her, the device had not been blown up, but it did have three bullet wounds.

Although the MacBook Pro was dead the data was salvaged, but that still left her angry. When looking more closely at the images here, you can see that the bullets penetrated all the through. The trackpad wrinkled from the force of the bullet, this is something that I would want to keep as a souvenir.

There is no question that this trip will ever be forgotten. Have you had anything this bad happen to one of your laptops?
