With the lack of iPhone 5 appearance at the WWDC 2011, it means that rumors about the device continue to circulate. We previously brought you news of the possible reason for the delay of the smartphone being due to its new 8 megapixel camera that it is rumored to have.

There were even rumors that the iPhone 5 would feature a 12.6 megapixel camera. Another rumor surrounds the use of speech recognition in the device and the news we have today provides confirmation that these rumors could be true, so long as the evidence is not fabricated.

The news comes from MacRumors who came across two screenshots seemingly of the next generation smartphone’s iOS menu, which has the option of Nuance preferences. These screens were posted via Twitter by @ChronicWire.

Rumors that Nuance and Apple were working together to give the iOS speech recognition features surfaced a while back but this is the first evidence of such a partnership. According to the article at MacRumors the source is normally a reliable one but we will just have to wait for an official confirmation from Apple to know for sure if the news is true.

Does the use of speech recognition appeal to you?

With Apple’s annual WWDC event around the corner, we just have time to tell you about one last interesting rumor, in relation to release details for the infamous iPhone 5. Fresh information from an analyst claims that the fifth-generation device is still on course for a release before the end of the year.

You’re probably thinking ”Why should I believe this again?”, and rightly so since the release period for the iPhone 5 seems to change every week with multiple sources offering alternative release predictions.

This latest one, isn’t too dissimilar to previous release expectations, as Brian White, an analyst with Ticonderoga Securities offered his latest insight on the iPhone 5 release. According to him, production of the new iPhone will start in July, and continue throughout the Summer building up to a retail release in September, as reported from BGR.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard a September release date for the iPhone 5, but is White just jumping on the bandwagon like the rest? Nobody knows for sure, except Apple of course as we’re sure they are loving the attention that their latest creation is getting.

Will we see it unmasked at WWDC 2011 though? – unlikely. Fingers crossed though that Steve Jobs has a surprise for us. Give us your expectations for the iPhone 5 release.

Well what do we have here? After talking about the iPhone 4S this week and it’s possible appearance at WWDC 2011, we now have a bit of a bombshell to share with you. It looks like Apple has secretly begun shooting commericals for their upcoming iPhone 5 handset.

A listing appeared on Craigslist asking for iPhone 5 commercial participants, and it looks like may be genuine since the listing was removed a few hours after being online. Luckily for you, a screenshot was captured courtesy of Mac Rumors and you can check it out below:

Titled ‘iPhone 5 Casting’, it specifically asks for ‘happy’ and ‘smiling’ people, 5 to be exact split up into different age groups, sex and ethnicities. According to the listing, Apple are apparently willing to pay a very generous sum for the commerical – £4500 + 10% states the listing. We’re not sure why the currency is listed in pounds though and not dollars, especially since the commercial listing is looking for participants for the LA area.

Do you think this is real or fake? If it was fake, then why would the listing have been removed so quickly – it makes you wonder doesn’t it. Apple are obviously known for their slick commericals, so could this be the first real indication that the iPhone 5 will release after Summer as previous speculation suggests? Time will tell.

Earlier on we informed you about some rumored new images of the iPhone 5 showing a new flash placement on the back casing, but now we have some even more exciting rumors to tell you about. It has been reported that the iPhone 5 will be equipped with an 8MP rear camera sensor, after Apple has struck a deal with a new component supplier.

The supplier in question is Largan Precision, and according to a fresh article published by Digitimes, they have agreed a deal with Apple which will see Largan Precision produce 8 megapixel camera sensors for the iPhone 5 in the third quarter of 2011.

Interestingly, the article adds that Largan Precision’s business generally comes from selling 5MP camera sensors for devices, with just a small portion of their workload spent on producing 8MP sensors. Obviously this will change considerably if they are indeed confirmed to be Apple’s new camera supplier for the iPhone 5.

There are not any details on the front facing camera for Apple’s new device yet, but we’re hoping that it will be around the 2MP mark to keep up with the Android competition on the market. Of course, it’s not the first time that Digitimes has come out and splashed the dirt on Apple hardware secrets. Let’s hope this particular one turns out to be true, as an 8MP camera on the iPhone 5 sounds lovely to us.

We have an update on the iPhone 5 release to share with you now, and it’s pretty significant as some new rumored pictures of the device have showed up online, and it may give us another look at how the final design will end up if it releases towards the end of this year.

Interestingly, these new pictures seem to look identical to the ‘mystery’ White iPhone 4 device which we told you about here and was running an unreleased version of iOS 4. These new pictures have been obtained by Chinese website M.I.C Gadget and there are a number of design changes that you’ll want to know about.

Firstly, it looks as if the touchscreen will be slightly larger than the one seen on the current iPhone 4, although it doesn’t look like a 4-inch size and it definitely isn’t edge to edge. The front of the alleged iPhone 5 also sports a new proximity sensor above the speaker, while BGR is reporting that the back of the device will be rounded again, like the iPhone 3GS and older models.

Based on these pictures though, would you welcome this design for the iPhone 5, or would it be a total disappointment to those expecting a completely revamped design? Don’t forget, these are just rumored pictures until Apple state otherwise. We’ll update you when we have more details, or if these images are confirmed with fresh information.

Earlier on we brought you an indefinite confirmation that the iPhone 5 would be out in September rather than Summer due to a fresh report from Reuters. Now we have some more specs rumors to tell you about, and it’s pretty exciting if it turns out to be true.

Fresh reports are suggesting that OmniVision, a company which has previously supplied Apple with rear camera sensors have produced a new camera sensor, one which is meant to be a 12.6MP sensor and have support for 1080p video recording, according to this report from Redmond Pie.

According to the report, no company has placed an order for this new camera sensor yet, but obviously with the iPhone 5 now likely to release in September, there’s plenty of time for this to change. How amazing would it be if Apple upgraded their 5MP iPhone with a 12MP iPhone – it really is mouthwatering stuff.

The report above also suggests that Apple may ditch OmniVision in favor of choosing a camera sensor manufactured by Sony, but hopefully this isn’t the case. As soon as we get more details on this rumor, we’ll let you know.

Do you think it is likely that Apple will bring a 12MP camera to the iPhone 5, or is this merely pipe dreams?

If you needed further confirmation that the iPhone 5 won’t be releasing this Summer, this is probably is it. It has now been reported by a very reputable source that the iPhone 5 will now be arriving this September, with production of the next generation iPhone due to start in July.

That source is none other than Reuters, who have been told the information by three different sources who are familiar with the matter – yeah that old one again. Anyway, the main point here is that the iPhone 5 won’t be shown at WWDC for a change, but instead at Apple’s Fall event in September.

Reuters add in their report that the design is going to be the same as the iPhone 4, as detailed in our article yesterday, and they back up strong speculation that the iPhone 5 will include a dual-core processor, most likely to be the A5 processor as seen in the iPad 2.

What do you make of this fresh confirmation from Reuters? Considering that they have decided to publish this, it’s highly likely that this information is accurate, more so than it would be from say the WSJ as they have been wrong about Apple rumors once or twice in the past.

iPhone 5 this September folks – give us your thoughts.

There has been much speculation recently that Apple may not be launching the iPhone 5 around the time we have come to expect. The upcoming WWDC event in June is thought to be a software only event, and no new hardware is due at the event in June. But an ad has appeared from online retailer Amazon which if not a mistake, could be very intriguing.

Beatweek have spotted an ad that Amazon has placed through Google which is stating the iPhone 5 is already on sale. Of course no such device exists at present, but the ad which you can see below also offers free shipping. If you click on the ad it just takes you to sales for the iPhone 4 according to Beatweek.

Now it could be just a simple typo by someone from Amazon, or some sort of publicity stunt to raise some advertising revenue for the retailer. The term iPhone 5 is searched a great deal at present, as we are at that time of year where we normally start finding out what the next generation of iPhone will bring.

There could be another reason for the ad, as Amazon may already know what’s coming from Apple in June if anything. Now this is probably very unlikely but you never know for sure. What do you think is it just a simple typo or some other mistake?

We have a treat for future iPhone 5 owners now, as we have a great image analysis to show you, which lists all the iPhone 5 rumors and speculation so far in an infographic which we’re sure you’ll appreciate, especially if you want to know potential new features for Apple’s next iPhone.

The image has been provided by the guys over at NowhereElse.fr, and it has been provided in the style that you would usually see up on Apple’s official product pages, complete with custom Apple style thumbnails and a bit of information on each rumor.

For example, there are details relating to a new 8MP camera for the iPhone, a bigger 4-inch display screen, a better display resolution and even the possibility of an iPhone 5 without a physical home button.

Moving on, we see rumors of a possible slide-out QWERTY keyboard for the iPhone 5, as well as an unlikely rumor touting the possibility of a 3D display screen and better battery life. Towards the bottom of the image, we see information regarding whether or not the iPhone 5 will release this Summer, and if it will come equipped with 4G LTE support and iOS 5.

This is pretty unmissable if you are thinking of getting Apple’s next iPhone. You can check out the image in the link above. Let us know which features from their list you think are more likely to happen, and which features are more farfetched.

It looks like the Apple iPhone 5 release will not only come with 2011 industry standards such as a dual-core processor, but it’s also looking to revolutionize the smartphone for good with a fresh approach into RFID technology.

We spoke about this briefly in a previous report which you can read here, but now we have much more details on Apple’s intentions to include built-in support for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) for the fifth generation iPhone.

A new article published over at Apple Insider talks about how Google has already established RFID technology on some of their Android smartphone, but Apple aims to go one further than Google by offering much more than just e-wallet payments at retailers.

If Apple has their way, 2011 could be the year in which users are able to take control of any other Mac computer by using ‘remote computing’ to change the settings so it essentially offers the same experience you would normally get with your Mac computer at home.

Their NFC / RFID features do not stop there either. Another idea would be to use the iPhone to bring up detailed information on a particular product you would be looking at whilst shopping. This would be information that wouldnt be listed at a retailer, and the iPhone data shown on screen could even include coupons and vouchers.

Some of you may be just be concerned about what new multimedia-related features the iPhone 5 may possess, but this information just goes to show that Apple are thinking way beyond that – we wouldn’t expect anything less from Steve Jobs and co. Will Apple shake up the industry with their intriguing RFID and NFC features for the iPhone 5? Let us know your thoughts on this.
