So far all news surrounding the iPhone 4G is pretty much unconfirmed, however we have recently come across some pretty reliable information which seems to confirm the iPhone 4G’s RAM and screen resolution.

Back in early April we reported that the iPhone 4G would perhaps feature a screen resolution of 960 x 640, we are now hearing claims that this resolution is accurate – this is believed by Digitimes senior analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo also strongly believes that the iPhone 4G will feature 512MB of RAM, this is a vast improvement compared to the 3GS’s 256 MB eDRAM and completely overshadows the 2G and 3G’S 128 MB eDRAM. Having 512MB of RAM also brings the handset level with the Nexus One and the HTC Incredible.

As previously stated this news must be treated as a rumor at the moment, however as we hear information which confirms/refutes this we will keep you posted.

Would you like the iPhone 4G to feature 512MB of RAM and a screen resolution of 960 x 640?

When we first learned that the Apple iPad came with the Apple A4 Microprocessor we all hoped that it would find its way in the new iPhone 4G. There have been a number of rumors that this has happened, but looking at this teardown it is the best conformation yet.

You can see from the image on Engadget that the inner workings has that A4 chip, and we are certain that it has been slowed down – otherwise it would demand too much battery power. Chipworks were the ones who discovered this little gem, stating that then 339S0084 chip number that appears on the hardware is the same number as the Samsung chip.

The other text that we see is APL0398, the very same that appears on the Apple iPad tablet device. If this is true then we can expect a more-powerful iPhone in 2010, even if Apple has to de-clock the chip.

So all the pieces are now in place, we now wait to see what Steve Jobs has planned for us at WWDC 2010

Due to a leak by Gizmodo last week, which appeared to preview Apple’s next generation iPhone, it seems as though Apple could very well unveil and release the iPhone 4g sooner rather than later. But why would they do that you might ask?

Well, in an email to Cult of Mac, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said that he thinks Apple might release the fourth-generation iPhone earlier than expected because now that Gizmodo have released their bombshell scoop, it seems as though iPhone lovers would rather wait for the new release rather than shelling out for something that would be pretty much obsolete when the iPhone 4g hits the shelves.

According to Munster, he said that “it’s safe to say, more people are waiting for the new one,” therefore resulting in “negative” sales for the existing iPhone models.

Rumors are suggesting that June 22 could be the day that Apple reveal the new iPhone 4g at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. You should also note that Apple have revealed its past two iPhone models at their annual Worldwide Developer Conference which also takes place in June.

But if Munster is correct, we could see an announcement as early as May, any later than that would make this entire email pointless. But the fact of the matter is, do you think Munster is right in his prediction?

If you haven’t yet heard that Gizmodo paid $5,000 for a prototype 4th-generation iPhone you must have been living in a cave for the last few days, anyway back on subject, it seems that Gizmodo got bored of the iPhone 4G / HD therefore they have recently took the device apart to see what could be powering the next-gen iPhone.

To be honest everything within the prototype was pretty much what we expected, however the smartphone’s mainboard / motherboard / logicboard / systemboard (whatever you want to call it) was extremely small, this shows the work which Apple are putting into their next flagship handset.

Earlier on we spoke about the battery, it is rated at 5.25 Watt and 3.7 Volts, this apparently equates to a capacity 1420 mAh, this capacity is smaller than a lot of competitive handsets, however I am sure that OS 4.0 will be designed to be as efficient as possible.

The image below shows how large the 3GS’s motherboard is in comparison to the leaked iPhone’s screan, the image here shows all of the 4G’s internal components, check out the tiny motherboard!

So far there have been quite a few Apple iPhone 4G / HD concept images, however three photos which recently showed up on IntoMobile appear to show the aluminum unibody casing of the upcoming smartphone.

One of the photos has been embedded at the end of this post, and I must admit that I was very impressed with the photos, however apparently there is meta data embedded in the pics which suggest they have been mocked up on Photoshop CS4.

Just because they have been through Photoshop CS4 it doesn’t mean that they aren’t legitimate, however at the moment we must seriously doubt these pictures.

If these photos are legitimate it shows that the iPhone HD will have a brushed aluminum casing, this fits in with Apple’s iMac, MacBook Pro, and iPad designs.

To see all three of these photos check out the link below, do you think these photos are legit iPhone HD shots?

When we say iPhone 4G, we do not mean that it will use 4G technology as the HTC EVO 4G does- it means that it is the 4th-generation of the iPhone. Apple will have to do something very special with the new 2010 handset if they have any hope of fighting off Android.

We have heard that the new iPhone 4G will come with a front-facing camera; this could prove very popular for enterprise users – a market where the iPhone is lacking. We also believe that the new handset will come with a more powerful processor – the same used in the iPad, but de-clocked.

We understand that the new iPhone OS 4.0 will run all new features on the 3GS, but the 3G will lack a number of the new features. We have to wonder if this will persuade iPhone 3G owners to upgrade to the 4th-generation version if and when it is launched.

We cannot make that decision for you, but you need to ask if the new features in hardware and OS will be enough for you to spend a huge amount of money on the new iPhone? Although we recently learned that the new handset could be cheaper than the current 3GS model.

What will be your reasons for buying the new iPhone 4G?

A recent analysis on touchscreen reponsiveness with the latest smartphones on the market, has concluded that the touchscreen within the Apple iPhone performed best out of the group analysed.

As reported from Apple Insider, tests were performed by a laboratory robot using the SimpleDraw application under supervision by MOTO labs.

Handsets that were tested include the Motorola DROID, BlackBerry Storm2, Google Nexus One, Palm Pre and HTC Droid Eris. The iPhone performed best, while the Nexus One – soon to land on Verizon, came second.

The worst touchscreen was the DROID, as tests concluded that it had “significant waviness and stair-stepping.”

What are your thoughts on this? Either way, it is great news for potential iPhone 4G users, knowing that they are picking up a handset with the most accurate touchscreen on the market.

We have some interesting news to bring you now, as it has been reported that the U.S Army may be supplied with specially designed handheld devices by Apple, for use on the frontline during duty.

As reported from Apple Insider, commanding general with Research, Development and Engineering Command, Maj. Gen. Nick Justice, visited Apple headquarters at the start of this month, to discuss the upcoming iPad tablet, as well as future ideas that Apple has in place.

It is thought that the U.S Army are keen to experiment with future versions of the iPhone, iPad, iMac as well as MacBook computers.

In the past, the Army has used custom iPods to translate Iraqi on the spot, while Macs have also been used for counter-hacking, along with other Apple hardware for video surveillance.

Will Apple be designing a modified version of the iPhone 4G for the Army this Summer? Let us know your thoughts on this. More details through the link.

Some interesting news for Apple lovers who are looking to pick up the upcoming iPhone 4G handset now, as we have heard reports that Apple are exploring the possibilty of including an audio text messages feature, ‘walkie talkie style’ in the future.

As reported from Apple Insider, it is understood that Apple has been brainstorming ideas for such a service, since November 2009, but details have only been made public this week.

Since the conventional method of sending SMS texts back and forth between users are limited to a certain amount of data – it has been revealed that Apple are looking at alternatives around this, in this case – with the use of audio messages.

It is an interesting feature for sure, but would it really work? Nextel has a similar ‘walkie-talkie’ service, so we will have to wait for clearer details on this.

Head over to Apple Insider for a series of drawings, which explain the possibilties that Apple are exploring. Give us your thoughts afterwards.

We have recently stumbled upon more concept images of the upcoming Apple iPhone 4G, and I must say despite there being little chance of the iPhone 4G looking anything like this the renders are pretty impressive.

You can see the full size image of the renders at the end of this post, they show the iPhone 4G in a range of colors, all of which feature internal storage of 64GB and a front-facing camera.

To be honest I feel that the physical design of the 4th generation iPhone is not paramount to it’s success, however improved hardware and an improved user environment will be extremely important.

I believe the key to the iPhone 4G’s success will be for it to feature an OS which is improved and supports Flash and multitasking, also a faster processor and a better quality camera with a flash will be a vast improvement.
