We have our ‘daily’ update on the rumored, but inevitable Apple iPad 3 to bring you now, as the latest whispers are suggesting that Apple are now at full steam ahead with production on their third-generation iPad device, but not without running into a few possible display conflicts in the meantime.

There has been a lot of debate prior to the iPad 3 coming out, on which company will be manufacturing the display that will be used on the device. Initial signs were pointing to Sharp being given the honor, but this report white we wrote back in November suggests that it will be a three horse race between Sharp, Samsung and LG.

A new article published by Korean website Electronic Times this week has provided a twist in the display battle though, claiming that Sharp has allegedly ‘failed’ to pass Apple’s approval process and as a result it will be LG and Samsung who will jointly supply LCD display components for the iPad 3. Their report also adds that Apple are taking no risks in terms of potential iPad 3 shortages, with a reported 65 million orders of LCD display panels from LG and Samsung, as noted by 9to5Mac.

As for an update on when the device will be coming out, we have again heard that the iPad 3 will be shipping in March, with iPad 3 components now being assembled by both Pegatron and Foxconn in China. Those of you that are hoping for a major design and hardware overhaul for the iPad 3 may be in for a disappointment though, as a report here claims that the iPad 3 will be mostly ‘exactly’ the same as the iPad 2, all be it for a few internal changes.

How important is the display manufacturer for you? It is worth noting that LG is Apple’s current display manufacturer for the iPhone 4 so perhaps they will stick with LG for the iPad 3 and leave Samsung to handle other component areas. Is it a big deal for you if Sharp do not provide the display for the iPad 3?

We have some fresh details on the rumored iPad 3 tablet device to share with you now, as it has been reported that the device will be upgraded with a new display, capable of outputting twice the resolution quality seen on the current iPad.

Once again, the details have surfaced from deep with inside the iOS 5 beta, as images uploaded to Apple Insider confirm that the resolution of the new iPad will be boosted to 2048 x 1536 pixels, compared with the current resolution of 1024×768.

If the higher resolution is confirmed for the iPad 3, it will mean that the device will follow similar upgrade tactics that Apple used for the iPhone 4, by upgrading their display screen with the Retina display compared to the old one on the iPhone 3GS.

What we don’t know yet, is when the device will release, as speculation is still brewing that it could be out before the end of the 2011. Could we enter a scenario where Apple’s Fall event introduces a new iPhone, new iPod Touch, and a new iPad? If that’s the case, then it’s going to be a event to look forward to for sure. Don’t forget that iOS 5 is due out in September as well, so all in all it’s great news for Apple fans.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you looking forward to hearing details on the iPad 3, or is it all about the iPhone 5 for you?

After bringing you fresh rumors on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 this week, we feel it’s only fair we tell you about the latest details regarding the iPad 3. It has been reported that a member of Apple’s senior exec team has visited Korea to discuss a potential deal involving OLED display screens on the iPad 3.

Just for your reference, the original iPad and the iPad 2 used an IPS LCD display as the screen of choice, but according to an article published by the Korean Herald, Apple are apparently having talks with Samsung to equip the iPad 3 with OLED screens for greater capacity, as reported from Apple Insider.

What are the advantages of having an OLED screen on the next iPad though as opposed to the IPS LCD display that they currently use? Well, an OLED screen will offer greater brightness, and reduced battery consumption – two key factors that consumers would love to see on the iPad 3.

In terms of release, you’ll also be pleased to know that the Korean Herald mentions that the iPad 3 is still on course for a release at the end of this year, so that adds another piece to the puzzle that it could be out alongside the iPhone 5.

On a side note, a deal between Samsung and Apple could mean trouble for LG, as the company currently supplies LCD screens for the iPad 2, so we’re sure they would have read the news with great interest.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you welcome OLED screen technology on the iPad 3?

It has been a while since we last heard any rumors about the iPad 3, but this latest rumor we couldn’t resist telling you about. We’re hearing that the device won’t be coming out this year contrary to previous speculation and also it won’t come with a Retina Display screen like many of you have been expecting.

Unsurprisingly, the rumors have once again surfaced from Taiwanese publication Digitimes who seem to be becoming rather notorious for their constant Apple leaks. Anyway, according to their report, they apparently have ‘knowledge’ of Apple’s third generation tablet and have spoken to one of Apple’s iPad component suppliers who have gone on record to say that an iPad 3 release in 2011 with a Retina Display screen is ‘wishful thinking’, as reported from BGR.

However, there is still a slim chance of another iPad coming out this year, but it will be regarded as a ‘minor update’ according to Digitimes source and that the only major improvement from the iPad 2 will be 4G support so it can be used on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

Don’t forget, this is still just speculation but as we stated above – you should still be aware of the whispers going on abroad. What are your thoughts on what has been claimed – Do you think the iPad 3 will still come out in 2011 or not?

We haven’t even heard official details on the second generation iPad tablet device yet, but we have some strong rumors which suggest that Apple are planning to release a THIRD version of the iPad before the end of the year.

According to Apple Insider, the news has surfaced from John Gruber at Daring Fireball. For those of you who don’t know, the guy has a proven track record in spilling the beans on forthing Apple products, and he’s back with the first information on the iPad 3.

He thinks that the iPad 2 will release sometime in March, with the iPad 3 following it with a release possibly in September. Specific features are unknown yet, but it could end up being the premium version with distinct advantages over the iPad 2. Gruber thinks that the iPad 3 will be announced at Apple’s annual iPod event, and that it will be running iOS 5.1 – the same software which the next generation iPod will run on too.

What do you make of this information overload from Gruber? Do you honestly think that Apple will release yet another iPad a few months after releasing the iPad 2. It seems rather crazy when you think about it, but we’re not one to doubt John Gruber.

If the iPad 3 does come out around the September period, then it is very likely that we’ll see it go head-to-head with the recently announced HP Touchpad device, which packs an industry leading 1.2Ghz dual core processor. We’ll keep you updated on this story.
